Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1362: Chapter 1360 The Fallen Empire (19)

Decisive action, unwavering will.

It has to be said, the combat discipline displayed by the Nightmare Guards is far superior to the confused awakeners who have no idea how to group fight.

In a short period, what seemed like a simple raid and retreat was thwarted only because they underestimated the strength of their target.

First, there were their highly advanced stealth tactics.

Compared to the earliest patch of mud on the ground, these quietly surrounding Guards displayed hiding skills that were like an overwhelming strike from a higher dimension.

Even I only sensed them slightly as they were about to strike.

Moreover, I was already preaching the Gospel back then, so I conveniently used it to inspire awe.

Additionally, their strategy was clear, initially observing the clash between myself and the awakeners, aiming to exhaust both sides.

Once the situation became stalemated and my Enlightenment was in full swing, they launched an attack without mercy.

Apart from this, it was apparent they were significantly more formidable than the three previous possessed attackers.

If struck by a Black Arrow, even if not in a vital spot, the only difference was the speed at which it turned one to muck.

If not for my reminder, there might only be Lady Raven left after the first attack round.

Realizing their depletion wasn’t as severe as imagined, and their combat power was even more exaggerated than last time, they decisively abandoned the awakeners, who posed little threat, focusing all efforts on me.

Finally, the leader who led by example, having used the information gap to create a perceived opportunity, was outsmarted and, upon assessing the damage personally, chose to retreat briskly, with commendable decisiveness.

A simple thought revealed that once they retreated, they would likely regroup, gather more elite forces, and launch another assault based on the latest power evaluation.

For me, that was undoubtedly a favorable scenario, a chance to meet more representatives of the Nightmare faction.

But it wasn’t good enough.

As mentioned earlier, time is pressing, requiring extreme efficiency.

For instance, helping them return faster.

Amidst the loud crash, the crystalline giant arm collided fiercely with the black armor.

…

Despite rapidly depleting, this strike was nowhere near its peak state, yet the body beneath the armor shattered along with it, scattering into the air.

Just like the previous Black Arrows, before touching ground, each fragment disintegrated into black arcs of light, gathering into a stunningly magnificent firework.

This brutal scene was undoubtedly breathtaking on the spot.

Due to the process being incredibly fast, more than one fleeing awakener turned back to observe.

However, even with the commander slain, the Nightmare Guards remained calm and collected.

Those who had leapt down had already used the opportunity to return to the top, withdrawing swiftly with the others.

Aside from the Black Arrows dropping from the sky once more to hinder actions, they left nothing behind, not even a harsh word.

Professional.

For a moment, Fu Qian gazed at the night sky again, full of admiration.

“Are you… specifically targeting them?”

Lady Raven, who persisted without fleeing, now wore a complex expression.

The plan she thought well in hand was instead a series of unexpected upheavals.

When things spiraled out of control and all seemed hopeless, the threat suddenly vanished without a trace.

In fact, she wasn’t the only one feeling a sense of loss now.

Realizing there seemed no immediate need to continue fleeing, the other awakeners also exchanged meaningful glances.

It was clear they had experienced numerous revelations today, none easily digestible.

Their future, how to avoid the fate of those above ground, and what the four afflicted will become in “reality”…

Although their longstanding fears were confirmed, they felt even more confused.

Under such emotions, more than one person had a vague urge to hear the Gospel once more.

Unfortunately, just as Lady Raven’s question went unanswered, they waited in vain for the Angel Envoy’s voice.

Silently and without notice, the figure gazing at the night sky directly disappeared from that spot.

It seemed he genuinely didn’t care about their reactions…

Realizing this, the group felt a profound sense of loss.

…

This direction feels somewhat familiar.

Amidst the quiet night, Fu Qian’s form flickered continuously.

With even greater activity than the real Leytin, the transformed Blood Conquest was not lacking in stepping stones.

Earlier, he used the same tactic to vanish from the awakeners’ sight.

As mentioned before, there was no need to waste time on conversation with them.

At this moment, Fu Qian quickly discovered that the direction appeared to be towards Leytin’s West District Church.

Although he couldn’t see the towering church structure in the night.

And how was the direction determined?

Simple, the leader seemingly escaping earlier was pulled back by the Thread of Concern.

Currently, the illusory guide, visible only to himself, pointed in that direction.

As stated before about sending him back quickly, the strike was not intended to kill.

Due to the turbulent negative effects on his body, Fu Qian had a peculiar perception of the surrounding life states.

He was fairly confident that even if these Nightmare Guards appeared in their true form, as long as he refrained from using Visceral Critical Strike, they would not die easily.

In the situation just now, the leader’s firm words and actions demonstrated almost no possibility for site communication.

Therefore, Fu Qian straightforwardly chose to send the leader back in person to report.

Utilizing the Thread of Concern’s effect, he would easily track down the core members of the Nightmare Guards who correctly understood the current situation.

This would make the ensuing exchanges more efficient, helping them maximize their potential.

An organization dedicated to maintaining the Nightmare and highly repulsive to the law forces from reality might offer information value surpassing the Celestial Sphere Sect of true Leytin.

As for the mission goal of this journey, the legendary agent, Fu Qian believed it to likely relate significantly to this organization.

Fu Qian was confident that his rampant actions would not go unnoticed by the agent preventing the Nightmare from infiltrating reality.

The following actions would surely give it more insights.

Of course, if entirely unrelated, that would be fine as well.

Completing the mission was never the primary purpose this time.

…

Emerging from the shadows, having already retracted his wings, Fu Qian circled past a couple providing a stepping stone, gazing at the scene before him.

It truly was the location of the West District Church.

However, at this moment, the grand structure was gone, replaced by a tranquil lake.

The trace of the Thread of Concern pointed beneath the water, where no path was visible.

In the silence, Fu Qian’s figure was submerged, choosing the water path.
