Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 945: Chapter 943: Prism (16) Chapter 945: Chapter 943: Prism (16) Fu Qian had never been blindly optimistic, and after realizing the colors before him were changing again, he quickly glanced at his own reflection to note the position and size of the fluorescent light.

At the next moment, he picked up the kitten Henry and sat back down, turning Oliver over so he was facing up.

If this was another color transition, he wanted to see what this person would turn into.

Now, it was already very clear around him: the red was fading fast, replaced by a bright, searing white light like the dawn of early morning.

However, the development of events was not as ideal as imagined; as time passed, the intensity of the white light became extravagantly strong, soon filling the entire field of vision, leaving no visibility.

The moment he completely lost his vision, Fu Qian didn’t hesitate to kick out.

Empty. Oliver was indeed gone.

…

A few seconds later, the white light gradually receded, and Fu Qian’s vision slowly returned.

And as he expected, although he was still sitting down, the scene before him was no longer the previous laboratory.

Neat seating, dim lighting, a huge screen, such a classic setup, he was clearly sitting in a movie theater.

Another time-space transfer, perhaps? Of course, this time it seemed a bit different.

Fu Qian looked down. In his left hand, he was currently holding a leather collar with significant wear and tear.

The at least ten-pound kitten Henry was hanging off it, head drooping, with a face that looked just woken up, devoid of energy.

Back to normal.

Fu Qian was moved internally and reached the same conclusion from the animal’s demeanor and appearance, while having a vague guess about his current situation.

“Angelo, did you end up finding your friend or not?”

Almost at the same time, a voice sounded from behind him.

Fu Qian turned to look, his first reaction was there seemed to be an added wall in front of him.

It was an exceptionally burly middle-aged man, probably over two meters tall, with bulging muscles all over, stretching his jacket taut.

Being less than one meter away from such a presence, especially with an unfriendly expression that matched his earlier tone, was without doubt quite oppressive.

“Are you talking about this?”

Fu Qian leaned to the side, showing the Henry in his hand.

“Good.”

Brother Wall glanced at it but seemed slightly disappointed in his demeanor.

“You were pretty efficient this time, but I’d prefer you to fulfill your duties well and make sure this creature doesn’t find another chance to sneak in.”

“Otherwise, just like I said earlier, if any customer comes to complain about stepping in cat feces again, you can pack up and go home right away!”

“Understood.”

Facing this stern reprimand, Fu Qian expressed great satisfaction because the information contained within made it very easy to sum up his current predicament.

His identity was no longer an adventurous intruder but a staff member of the cinema.

And the person before him was clearly some kind of supervisor.

Adele had mentioned earlier, besides enjoying trips to the research institute, the cinema was also one of this cat’s hangouts.

And because of its habit of burying poop, the supervisor, named Sergei, was furious and tasked him with finding the cat and throwing it out.

Quite magical; under the white light, he had directly become a character within the instance.

Seemingly relieving was the fact that items like the Mercy Sedative were still with him, suggesting he had only turned into a character recognized by the original inhabitants.

“Alright, now throw it out. I don’t want to see even a single cat hair here when I come back later.”

While he was pondering, Brother Wall issued his orders once again and then turned away without a second glance at Fu Qian, exuding an imposing momentum as he left.

“Sleeping pretty well, huh?”

As the boss left, Fu Qian looked at Henry, who was even yawning, and casually greeted him, though the latter clearly didn’t bother to pay any attention.

“Angelo?”

And just then, the door was opened once more, and this time the name called was with a female voice.

It even sounded vaguely familiar.

Seeing Adele, with her red beret, Fu Qian wasn’t particularly surprised.

Just from the fact that a cinema employee had the time to look for a cat, he could guess that this scene was set before the accident, and Adele was naturally alive and well.

This wasn’t necessarily bad news; theoretically, he had more opportunities to find clues and paint a full picture of the event, thus identifying the source of the colors.

Even from Adele’s tone, it was clear she was quite familiar with his current identity.

“Henry, you came here again?”

By now, Adele had come closer and was momentarily startled to see the cat in Fu Qian’s hands.

“No wonder Sergei looked so upset.”

So his supervisor’s name was Sergei?

Fu Qian regarded the cat-loving lady before him, who not long ago had met a tragic death, and shook his head the next instant.

“Adele, you’re looking quite terrible.”

“That’s not surprising.”

Adele was taken aback for a moment, then replied with a bitter smile.

“Was what you said earlier a joke?”

Hm?

Fu Qian kept a poker face.

“What do you mean?”

“The disaster you foresaw!”

Adele sounded a bit anxious.

“I thought you were joking when you said that, but now a lot of people are talking about it outside. Tell me honestly, you didn’t just dream it up, right?”

“No.”

Fu Qian firmly shook his head, while a sense of clarity washed over him.

His current identity was actually one of the sources spreading the prophecy of disaster?

“Who told you that?”

Fu Qian’s candid response left Adele somewhat stunned.

“I don’t know.”

But the next moment, despite her expectant look, Fu Qian turned completely around in his reply.

This was also the truth.

…

“Okay.”

After looking at Fu Qian for a few seconds, Adele didn’t show too much displeasure but hurriedly continued.

“I came here specifically to warn you, whether it was you who started spreading it or not, don’t mention it again.”

“Apparently, the research institute, being the chaotic source in the story, is already looking for the person spreading rumors.”

They came specifically to warn him?

Eliminating those who raise questions is certainly an age-old, universally applied standard move, no matter the time-space.

Fu Qian silently praised the move, without any surprise.

“In any case, watch yourself. I’ll take Henry for now.”

Seeing Fu Qian silent, Adele shook her head and reached out to take the cat.

Yet Fu Qian raised his hand, eluding her grip.

“Sergei just flipped out, saying he doesn’t want to see it at all recently. I think it’s better to hand it over to Paul and let the owner take good care of it.”

“Um… okay.”

Adele appeared somewhat reluctant, but at the moment, she was unable to find a counterargument.

“Then I’ll go with you.”
