Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 941: Chapter 939: Prism (12) Chapter 941: Chapter 939: Prism (12) So does that mean we actually found the right place just now?

Lady Star’s words immediately caused a strong reaction; the group exchanged glances in an instant.

“If I could, I’d rather it not be that possibility.”

But then Red Dragon slowly shook his head, his smile bitter-sweet.

“Confirming the target’s location is good, but if it really is there, it will mean there’s always a group of bastards blocking the way…”

Being able to see but not touch, the mission would become eternally unattainable…

Red Dragon’s words weren’t hard to understand; the atmosphere instantly became tenser.

“Wait a second.”

At that moment, Qing reacted to something, rushed to the window, and peered out, her body then stiffening.

“There really are people outside, they look a lot like the ones we encountered before…”

The next moment, she turned back and said through gritted teeth.

So does that mean even if we escape, it won’t make much of a difference?

The news Qing brought was undoubtedly shocking, and three more people rushed over to see for themselves.

Even from a considerable distance off the ground, and in dim light, they could still make out the movement of individuals moving in bizarre patterns below.

“It seems we’re truly stuck between a rock and a hard place.”

Human adaptability was indeed astonishing; when Red Dragon returned, he seemed to have accepted the possibility described by Fu Qian.

“First of all, even if I exert all my strength, I don’t believe there’s the slightest chance of fighting our way back to enter the top floor.”

“And although the spread of the fluorescent growth is slow, there’s no doubt it’s still progressing; continuing to stay here would also mean sitting ducks.”

While acceptance was one thing, he expressed considerable pessimism about the current situation.

“Actually, there’s no need to be so tense; there are still many things we can try, like pouring a few bottles of the stuff from the safe, and betting on the power of genetic mutation.”

Fu Qian, however, didn’t seem particularly anxious and pointed at the death row inmate closest to the safe.

In fact, after the latter finished observing outside the window, his gaze indeed fell intentionally or unintentionally on those potions, contemplative.

“What if you all are overthinking the problem?”

Seeing the team’s morale plummet, and the instigator Guansi still spouting nonsense, Masked Man couldn’t help but speak up again.

“Why must this color change be related to our actions? What if it just naturally happens at a certain time? Maybe we just happened to do something consistent with it just now?”

“That’s also a possibility…”

Listening to the Masked Man’s complete speech, Red Dragon’s demeanor was a bit hesitant, obviously not completely convinced by the other’s words.

“It’s the most likely possibility.”

The Masked Man was unexpectedly firm and even pointed at Fu Qian after speaking.

“I believe Guansi also acknowledges this.”

Huh?

This statement was undoubtedly odd, and everyone’s gaze returned to Fu Qian for a moment.

“Guansi… where’s your cat?”

At that moment, Qing realized something.

It was a revelation that woke the rest, and the three members of Red Dragon suddenly realized; the very cat this guy insisted on saving, even at the risk of conflict with a teammate, had not been mentioned in a long time.

He had hung the cat on his belt while unlocking earlier, but now, it was clear there was no place where a cat could be hidden on him.

“Not good to only notice after being reminded! Always be vigilant of the people around you!”

Faced with a multitude of suspicious stares, Fu Qian sighed and delivered a meaningful line.

“It disappeared, just before I inserted the object into the lock hole.”

At that moment…

For a time, the members of Red Dragon looked at each other.

At the time, their attention was almost entirely on what lay beyond the door, and accustomed as they were to Transcendent perception, they hadn’t noticed the change.

Most crucially, despite such an incident, this guy hadn’t shown any signs of it, to the extent that only Masked Man had noticed the whole time.

“It’s not your fault; technicians always tend to go unnoticed.”

Fu Qian comforted everyone in his own unique way.

“At that time, I paid a little attention, and the special color also started changing synchronously.”

“If that’s the case, then indeed, there’s a good chance it’s time-related, and not tied to our actions…”

Speaking thus, Qing’s eyes sparked with an idea.

“That means if we wait here, the color might change back…”

“And if we act faster this time, we could very likely get through the door before the change occurs.”

Star took over, her eyes brightening as she spoke, hope reigniting.

“That possibility can’t be ruled out; in fact, we might have another chance.”

Masked Man looked meaningfully at Fu Qian as he continued.

“If we’re not different from those things outside, then couldn’t it be that once we’re infected to a certain degree, we’ll be considered the same kind and not attacked?”

“In that case, even if the colors haven’t changed back, we could go straight through them to get inside…”

Lady Star’s eyes shone even brighter for a moment.

“That does sound good, but just because we don’t feel anything now doesn’t mean it’ll be fine if the contamination gets deeper.”

This time, it was the death row inmate who was first to realize this.

“We don’t even know at what degree we won’t be attacked.”

“There’s a good chance we need to be as mad as they are to be considered one of them.”

“You’re right; basically, there might just be such a window of opportunity, but it’s not easy to seize… but there are still things we can do.”

Faced with the death row inmate’s skepticism, Qing seemed to have an idea already.

“We might need to take some risks, or rather, take risks in batches, just like the initial exploration.”

“The moment those things outside show reduced aggression, we start trying to enter the top floor in groups, rather than waiting for them to stop attacking completely.”

“In such scenarios, we can maximize the benefits of potential contamination and avoid going mad all cooped up in here.”

…

Qing’s suggestion was easy to understand, but this time nobody was quick to concur.

In theory, her idea could indeed enhance the success rate of the plan.

But there’s a difference between team spirit and a spirit of self-sacrifice.

Putting everything else aside, those who went first would be taking an enormous risk.

“I think the situation shouldn’t be that drastic; we can wait a bit longer and see.”

Even Red Dragon, slightly pondering, proposed a relatively conservative view.

This senior always seemed to work at a relaxed pace, Fu Qian mused internally.

All along the way, Red Dragon fundamentally seemed optimistic, or inclined not to believe the mission would be extremely difficult.

But to Fu Qian, there had been far too many unscrupulous times in the warehouse.

“Don’t delay; I’ll go first!”

And with that exasperated sigh, he stepped forward amid an array of life-questioning expressions.
