Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 887: Chapter 885: Rotten Flesh (Part 6) Chapter 887: Chapter 885: Rotten Flesh (Part 6) “If you came during the day, Brother Tyler would most likely be pretending to be dead, and you wouldn’t see this kind of proactivity.”

Having successfully witnessed the suspect’s escape, Fu Qian, who hid in the dark, was very satisfied with his earlier decision.

By now, Tyler had quickly straightened his back, but he still found a corner to hide his form, carefully observing his surroundings.

With that movement, Fu Qian noticed something peculiar slipping from Tyler’s body.

It seemed to be a grey cloth, about the size of a tabletop, semi-transparent, and with irregular edges, at first glance, it was even difficult to discern whether it had a physical form.

Yet such an item seemed to be of no low ranking.

Tyler must have used it to wrap around his body, which is how he obtained the High-Tier ability to shuttle through shadows.

At this moment, the grey cloth twisted around Tyler’s back, like a tattered cape.

And just like that, it became quite clear that Tyler’s presence was considerably concealed.

This must be what gave him the confidence to slip out and act under the cover of night.

…

Fu Qian didn’t think that Tyler genuinely wanted to escape.

Their interactions were limited and, aside from being a bit simple-minded, Fu Qian didn’t know much about this member of the Bloodline Clan.

But from what he currently saw, there was no reason for Tyler to run.

If he weren’t responsible for that series of vile events, setting aside whether he’d be willing to take on the name of a fugitive, Grantham would never let such a thing happen.

Otherwise, even if matters were cleared up later, the Gulad family wouldn’t be able to remain in Shangjing.

And if Tyler really did do those dishonorable deeds?

Then he would have even less chance to flee.

Given Gulad’s current situation, a mishandling of the case would mean more than just no longer mingling in Shangjing.

Even if Tyler were of 24-karat pure blood, Grantham would definitely be interested in offering him up as a sacrifice.

So even with a few items at his disposal, he had no chance to escape.

And judging from the situation just now, there were no members of the Bloodline Clan lurking outside Tyler’s residence, which in some sense indicated Grantham’s confidence in his innocence.

Wait, having just spoken of innocence, was Brother Tyler about to besmirch himself?

…

In the blink of an eye, Tyler had chosen a direction and dashed off, with Fu Qian naturally and quietly following behind.

At this moment, Brother Tyler had already stopped.

And even from such a distance, Fu Qian could smell the scent of alcohol and vomit.

This place looks familiar, if I remember correctly, I was here not long ago.

Back then, I was with Chief Yuan and Su Gao, and we found the first victim of Ember.

Fu Qian surveyed his surroundings.

It had to be said, this was indeed a lively place.

Even though the night was not too deep, he could already see men and women with flushed faces, occasionally rushing to the side to vomit, or even falling over, unconscious.

This was truly an area prone to corpse-picking incidents, and Brother Tyler running here was indeed somewhat sensitive.

And at this moment, he was using the cover of night to delve into that area of glitz and glamour.

…

Was he trying to find the real killer, or clear himself?

Unlike Tyler, Fu Qian had already given up on hiding his form and, protected by his mask, walked confidently and boldly forward.

Under the night filter, people’s tolerance for odd and extravagant attire was clearly much higher.

Following Tyler’s footsteps all the way until he quietly concealed himself in a certain place, Fu Qian looked around and came to the above conclusion.

Although he hadn’t completely merged with the shadows, Tyler’s presence was greatly diminished, thanks to the darkness and the effect of his cloak.

In such a posture, concealed in a corner, his gaze was locked onto a woman.

The latter was in a rather indecent pose, kneeling on a bench.

Judging from her exposed profile, she was heavily made-up but not old, and her clothing was rather conservative, though she was now clearly in a foggy state of mind.

While he watched her intently, it was clear that Tyler was not interested in the woman herself but was closely monitoring every man that approached her.

Under such favorable conditions, Tyler seemed to think she was suitable bait, attempting to use her to lie in wait for his prey.

The method wasn’t particularly clever, but it indeed seemed like something a hotheaded youth would do.

No wonder Brother Tyler, despite being significantly older, could rival the reputation of a young prodigy.

However, it’s good for young people to have passion, but if Brother Tyler had a sufficient sense of crisis, he would know that in such situations, one could easily be implicated and unable to clear their name even if they jumped into the Yellow River.

As time ticked by, it had been over half an hour, and still, nothing Tyler hoped for occurred.

Throughout the process, the intoxicated woman, despite her confusion, somehow managed to dismiss several groups of men who approached her.

Eventually, she managed to stagger to her feet, hailed a taxi, and left, much to the disappointment of the lurking wolves.

Brother Tyler was clearly more disappointed, watching a prime piece of bait slip away.

However, until the car door closed and drove off, and although he hesitated slightly, he didn’t make any small moves to stop the process.

…Whether it was out of fear of being discovered or something else, at least he has some principles!

Having witnessed this scene, Fu Qian expressed his approval with a comment, then immediately stood up.

He didn’t head towards Tyler but instead turned and walked away, slightly relaxing his extremely concealed aura.

And almost instantly, Fu Qian realized he was being targeted by Tyler.

Without looking back, he briskly rounded a corner and entered a deserted alley.

Such a simple ruse would hardly work on anyone with experience in the worldly society.

Fortunately, Brother Tyler lacked that.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

As he turned the third corner, Fu Qian felt his right foot sink, as if the animated shadows had firmly grasped it, with a voice coming along with it.

He even knew how to hide his identity.

Without struggling, Fu Qian stopped, looking at the figure who emerged from the corner.

In comparison to before, Tyler’s face now featured a mask.

Moreover, unlike the one on his own face, Tyler’s mask was clearly crafted with great care—the overall shape resembled a butterfly ready to take flight, and even the chin was left uncovered to suit the design.

Truly a born elegance, isn’t he? Can’t he be a bit more low-key right now?

Fu Qian couldn’t help but feel moved.

And it was clear that Tyler, too, was staring at Fu Qian’s mask in a daze.

That was the awkwardness of clashing styles.

“Tyler Gulad?”

As he silently ridiculed the situation, Fu Qian didn’t answer the question but instead asked in a deep voice.

“You really know who I am!”

Tyler sounded not upset but actually pleased, manipulating the shadows that now entwined Fu Qian’s other foot with a flick of his wrist.

“I think you need to explain properly how you managed that.”

“How did you recognize me?”

Facing this overtly threatening statement, Fu Qian scoffed and shook his robe.

“I’ve long heard of the great names of North’s Jiang En and South’s Tyler. Today, Sa Jia has come specifically to learn a thing or two.”
