Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 871: Chapter 869: Ignition (43) Chapter 871: Chapter 869: Ignition (43) In fact, not only Akasha and her companion, but even the Demigods who had rushed halfway, were equally perplexed at the moment.

They watched as Fu Qian, with half his neck missing, sat there while his flesh and blood softly restored itself; almost everyone pondered the causes and consequences in silence.

Even Fu Qian himself was looking at his own right hand, lost in thought.

With the end of Visceral Critical Strike, the details of just a moment ago had become hazy; he couldn’t even recall what his target looked like.

The only certainty was that he had utterly destroyed a “hero” named Ballard with a rather malevolent posture.

“The Prophet apologizes for his rudeness just now and hopes to have another discussion with you,” said Akasha suddenly, looking seriously at Fu Qian.

Even after she had spoken, her brow visibly relaxed slightly.

“Sure, I’ll be waiting right here,” replied Fu Qian, unwilling to give up his lunch, while inwardly giving a nod of admiration.

Truly worthy of the Prophet, to “figure things out” so quickly even after losing a character.

The perplexity of Akasha, her companion, and the other Demigods had a simple reason—they had forgotten about Ballard under the effects of Visceral Critical Strike.

That’s why they couldn’t understand how the recent conflict had even occurred.

The reason why Akasha seemed relieved was because there was now an explanation for the bizarre situation—Yuan Fang believed that the conflict had been initiated by the natives.

It made sense; on one hand, he had no apparent reason to attack, and with half his neck gone, he hadn’t even fought back.

Such sincerity in cooperation could move heaven and earth.

As for why the natives were suddenly so inhospitable to their partners, the reason was also easy to guess—they thought his stance was ambiguous, suspecting he let outsiders who had fallen into their trap go, and in a fit of rage, they lashed out.

Fortunately, Yuan Fang intervened in time to prevent a tragedy.

Yes, in Fu Qian’s opinion, it was most likely that the Prophet directly called out remotely, causing Akasha and her companion to cease their attack.

Otherwise, it was hard to imagine how they could have stopped so abruptly.

And why was Yuan Fang coming now?

A group of people had acted rashly, nearly killing a partner.

Even if it was just to plot with him, he would need to come forward and soothe the situation.

Of course, Fu Qian hoped it wasn’t the only reason.

…

Looking at it now, whether it was spiritual contamination or corruption, the reason this mission had emerged was because his patient was affected by unknown influences, resulting in mental instability.

The Introduction mentioned that His “nature was profound and serene,” but now He had become “restless.”

The restlessness was so intense that assistance from external forces was needed to guide out of confusion, namely himself as the mission agent.

This was no easy task.

The Introduction was extremely cryptic.

Targets, their state, the problem, up to this point, these contents could only be deduced by continuously testing and inferring a glimpse of the puzzle, infinitely more difficult than making a diagnosis from a silk thread.

And now, he needed to attempt the fastest treatment possible based on these limited elements, while the patient’s condition was unknown.

Because the patient could become incurable at any moment.

…

Fortunately, as an expert in spiritual contamination, seasoned by constant exposure, Fu Qian had his own insights in this area.

Considering an existence akin to the World Will, it was hard to imagine anything that could completely blind Him.

Self-doubt often stemmed from self-questioning.

If He had troubles, it was likely doubt about His original self, the so-called loss of initial resolve.

In other words, He was not incapable of resisting restlessness; rather, the restless state might not necessarily be wrong in His eyes, wrong might be His original self.

And for this situation, what he needed to do was to help correct errors and rebuild the initial resolve.

And specifically, how to rebuild… a role model seemed to be a means worth considering, like Ballard.

Although, essentially, Ballard was nothing more than a symbol given form in a realm of chaos.

His death, even his disappearance, was a minor matter, just an ancillary figure for a sacrificial burial, unlikely to make any real impact.

But in the Unseen Hillock, where destiny reigned supreme, this entity “not even considered a life” represented an extreme condensation of a hero concept.

What of a preordained fate?

In numerous films and television works, where stirring scenes abound, as a discerning viewer, you could clearly know who was in makeup, how they were portraying, how they were narrating, even where the zippers on the suits were.

All these details let you know it was all an act.

And yet, years later when looking back, you might find it childish and laughable.

But that doesn’t contradict the “hero” they wanted to display; he believed as the World Will, his patient wouldn’t be so petty.

From just that piece of the narrative, He should be able to interpret something worthy of example, to reexamine His own doubts about His initial resolve.

So young one, do you still believe in the light?

…

Yes, that was the true meaning of Fu Qian’s conversation with Ballard just now; the whole process was also a “discussion” with the patient.
In Fu Qian’s view, though indirectly touching on the issue, this might have been the most influential method he could employ for now.

And Ballard did not disappoint.

Faced with an absurd fate, he allowed his true self to burn away without a trace, sweetly accepting his destiny.

And Fu Qian had expressed “honor” also because of this.

Everyone had their limitations, and he didn’t think anyone could sit with a sense of superiority before those who had made the most of their initial resolve within those confines.

…

“I am truly sorry for what happened just now.”

After the incident, Fu Qian seemed to be treated with exceptionally high regard.

Yuan Fang, evidently a recluse, had rushed to the restaurant fairly quickly, without doubt, after his request was relayed through Akasha.

And the first thing he did upon sitting down was to apologize sincerely.

“It’s okay,” said Fu Qian, without even lifting his head, indulging wholeheartedly in the feast before him.

The two bodyguards, on the other hand, clearly had no appetite and sat in silence.

“So, according to what was mentioned before, is this meeting also predestined?”

Fu Qian, a man of politeness, finally wiped his mouth after being sated and looked at Yuan Fang to ask.

Was it an illusion, or did Yuan Fang actually seem rather joyful over this “misunderstanding”?

“Yes,” Yuan Fang nodded firmly.

“My gratitude to you is the same, I am very certain.”

“Just now, I saw more, and the beautiful future became even clearer.”

Indeed, there was a genuine smile on his face.

“This is thanks to your cooperation.”

So, it was still a future blessed by Flame Blessing?

Fu Qian nodded subtly, with no change in expression.
