Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 434, The Devouring Dragon King in the Dragon Fall Valley

Lu Fan took it out, and a severely damaged book appeared in his hand.

First, he looked at its details.

Explorer’s Journal: (Special Item)
Description: A journal which recorded the original owner’s experiences while exploring the Wilderness. Judging from the degree of damage to this journal, never set foot at where the original owner had last been at…

[A Special Item, without any Grade specified?] Lu Fan thought about it. Previously when he claimed Divine Grade Treasure Maps, he generally got a Dragon Egg and something like a Dragon Blood Potion. In short, the value of this journal should be equivalent to a Dragon Blood Potion, which was once very precious to Lu Fan, but now seemed rather ordinary.

So, this Explorer’s Journal was probably not a very useful Special Item.

At least that was what Lu Fan thought as he opened the journal.

Sure enough, it contained dense writing. Although the text was badly faded, with careful examination, it was still legible.

“Dragon Country Calendar Year 589, January 9th. My exploration team and I officially set out for the new Map called Dragon Fall Valley. According to reports, half a month ago, someone saw three Giant Dragons fighting. Their fierce battle took place in the sky, deep in the Western Border. It lasted for three days and three nights before the Giant Dragons finally fell to the ground. The place where they landed was smashed, creating multiple huge ravines which intersected and spread. Now, the location has formed an endless canyon, contaminated by Dragon Blood. Their blood had caused Monsters there to mutate, and this canyon also formed a new map called Dragon Fall Valley.”

“Half a month later, one Giant Dragon left Dragon Fall Valley, but the other two never flew out. According to informed speculation, there is a possibility of two injured Giant Dragons in Dragon Fall Valley that can be Tamed. Or alternatively, incredibly valuable Giant Dragon carcasses. Either way, Dragon Fall Valley currently contains endless treasures worthy of our venture. I hope our journey to Dragon Fall Valley will be successful.”

“…”

“Dragon Country Calendar Year 589, January 14th. Now, we have been exploring the Western Border for five days. We are getting closer and closer to the Dragon Fall Valley Map Coordinates provided by our informant. Everyone is excited. The captain even asked me, as a Fourth Profession Change Beast Tamer, if we really meet an injured Giant Dragon in Dragon Fall Valley, whether I could Tame it. I naturally told him that if we really found a Giant Dragon there, I would definitely be the first Beast Tamer in the world to have a Pet Dragon.”

“The captain didn’t believe me and said he wanted to make a bet with me. If I could really become the first Beast Tamer in the world to have a Pet Dragon, he would give me a Diamond Grade Equipment. Hehe, captain you don’t know this but before I came, I spent a fortune to buy a Scroll that increases the chance of successful Taming. You are going to lose your Diamond Grade Equipment to me!”

“…”

“Dragon Country Calendar Year 589, January 16th. We finally reached Dragon Fall Valley, but the environment in Dragon Fall Valley is far harsher than we had imagined. The Monsters here are too dangerous, with none below Level 85, and their Attributes are much higher and more difficult to deal with than Monsters elsewhere. Moreover, the poison on their bodies is headache-inducing. Every day, Xiao Die has to cast Purify countless times on us to help us remove various Debuffs. Seeing her so tired every day really makes my heart ache.”

“When I tame a Giant Dragon, I’ll definitely be the strongest in our team, right? At that time, I will confess to her. Although we are no longer young, who says only the youth are allowed to pursue love?”

“…”

“Dragon Country Calendar Year 589, January 23rd. We have been exploring Dragon Fall Valley for a week. The further we go into Dragon Fall Valley, the stronger the Monsters we encounter. We’ve even had casualties. Yesterday, the captain was attacked by a Boss. Deadly poison directly entered his heart, and even Xiao Die could not save him. Furthermore, besides the captain, two other Fourth Profession Players also died. Fortunately, Xiao Die was not injured. If we did not have her, a Fourth Profession Priest, to clear our Debuffs, we definitely would not be able to continue forward.”

“Even so, we can’t give up! No matter what, we must find a Giant Dragon and Tame it!”

“…”

“Dragon Country Calendar Year 589, January 30th. Hehe! We finally saw the Giant Dragon in Dragon Fall Valley. As rumoured, there are still two Giant Dragons in Dragon Fall Valley. One is already dead, and the other is still alive. Moreover, it is severely injured and, even after such a long time, still hasn’t recovered and is dying.”

“My teammates and I are all very pleased with this discovery. We now could confidently say that those who died along the way did not die in vain. As long as everything goes smoothly, we are very likely to Tame this injured Giant Dragon and bring back the carcass of the dead Giant Dragon. That alone would allow us to obtain countless invaluable materials.”

“I took out the prepared scroll and used the Taming Skill on the injured Dragon. After using it, I realised how naive I had been. Even though we were all Fourth Profession Players, even though the Giant Dragon before us, named Devouring Dragon King – Maw of the Abyss, was already severely injured and dying, the gap between us was still too great.”

“It opened its eyes, and countless poisonous gas exploded, blasting all of us away. Everyone was directly corroded by the poisonous gas, and they were instantly killed. I had relied on my Summon, my trusty Iron Armoured Giant Bear, to fend off most of the poisonous gas for me. It was the only reason I am still alive. Unfortunately, even I could not escape my fate. Some of the poison that touched my body is corroding me at a visible rate. I know I can’t hold on much longer. In my last moments, I’m writing down these words. I hope to bring them to the outskirts of Dragon Fall Valley. I hope someone will find this journal and heed my words as a warning.”

“Dragon Fall Valley is a place more dangerous than any Forbidden Zone. Giant Dragons are truly beings that can rival Divinity! Anyone who attempts to enslave Divinity will fail. So, don’t come to Dragon Fall Valley. Especially never try to provoke the Giant Dragon at the deepest part of the valley, the one called Devouring Dragon King – Maw of the Abyss!!”

The last two characters were extremely messy, showing that the journal’s owner had likely reached the end of his life.

This journal was indeed just that, someone’s written notes.

After Lu Fan finished reading it, he was greatly shocked!

After all, the Devouring Dragon King – Maw of the Abyss recorded in the journal was not unfamiliar to him. [Isn’t that the Dragon King that turned the Flying Dragon Nest into the Flying Dragon Cemetery?]

Even now, Lu Fan still had an uncompleted Nightmare Difficulty Opportune Mission on his Mission Panel – Kill the Devouring Dragon King – Maw of the Abyss!
