Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 241, Want Points? Do You Have What It Takes?

Lu Fan did not even need to summon Xiao Cui to cast Jade Shield on him. Instead, he directly used the Skill, Void Break, turning into a stream of light with Xiao Ye, forcefully breaking through the ambush.

Those arrows and dark energy balls had not even touched Lu Fan and Xiao Ye before being shattered by Void Break.

The remaining arrows and dark energy balls could only hit each other, causing violent explosions with bursts of strong gusts pouring out, proving these two Skills indeed had considerable power.

“Damn it, we missed!” One of the ambushers said in frustration.

Lu Fan looked at him. The man was riding a giant green butterfly, wearing leather armour and wielding a short bow. [Those arrows from earlier must have been shot by him.]

Above his head, his information was clearly displayed before Lu Fan.

Gu Lang, Level 57, Forest Arrow God, Extreme Earthly Country, 34,831 points, Rank 14.

The other person had also revealed himself. He was a tall, thin man with wings made of Dark Element behind his back. They resembled demon wings, allowing him to fly in midair.

He wore black cloth armour and held a staff inlaid with black gems, with Dark Element flowing around his body.

Lu Fan took a look and could tell this man in black was clearly a Mage.

Badan, Level 57, Dark Night Mage, Golden Fragrance Country, 33,465 points, Rank 15.

Dark Element flowed around his body, making his form appear somewhat translucent, hovering between a state of Concealment and Non-Concealment.

[Seems like Wei Ji and the other two’s ability to collectively use Concealment earlier is likely due to this man’s Skill.]

At this moment, Wei Ji emerged from the foul-smelling swamp pool, clinging to a tree trunk as thick as a person as she poked her head out. Wiping the mud from her face, she complained. “Gu Lang, Badan, what’s wrong with the two of you? How could you both miss?”

Badan’s face was dark and gloomy as he tersely said. “Didn’t you miss too?”

Wei Ji unhappily grumbled. “I have a Close Combat Profession. It’s normal to be detected before I can strike! As for you two, I already helped you gain some time to release your Skills, yet you still let him escape. Aren’t my injuries in vain?”

At this point, Gu Lang loudly called out. “Enough. Stop arguing. It’s not our fault. Our opponent has some ability. His strength is greater than we imagined! He will definitely be tough to beat, so we need to be careful. But, if we can take down this fat sheep, the rest of the trial will be simple.”

As he spoke, greed flashed in Gu Lang’s eyes as he stared at the points above Lu Fan’s head. “That is close to 600K points! If we split it between us, each person can get over 100K points. That’s definitely enough to secure positions in the top four.”

At these words, Wei Ji and Badan nodded unconsciously, eyes burning with fervour.

Hearing their continued interest in his points, Lu Fan could not help but smile as he held up his Flaming Meteor Sword and said. “You want my points? You’ll need to have what it takes. You couldn’t even hurt me with that sneak attack of yours. In a direct fight, what chances do you think you have against me?”

*Hehe!* Wei Ji grinned, showing her yellowed teeth. “Brat, don’t celebrate too early. You are indeed stronger than what we have imagined, but today, this Swamp will definitely be your grave!”

Lu Fan smiled and asked. “What makes you so confident?”

Just as Lu Fan’s words fell, Kiran’s voice came from the bottom of the swamp pool. “Because I’m here!”

As he spoke, there was another disturbance from the swamp pool as the seven-coloured python emerged carrying Kiran.

With Kiran’s appearance, suddenly the entire swamp pool began churning non-stop, as if it was boiling. Soon, countless snakes of various colours and sizes emerged from the swamp pool, constantly twisting their bodies and coiling together.

Instantly, within about ten kilometres of the swamp pool, almost no mud could be seen. The swamp’s surface was completely covered with densely packed snakes, a sight that made one’s whole body shiver without end.

However, through Black Dragon Perception, Lu Fan could sense that these snakes were not actually real. They were just Effects from a Skill. Otherwise, with so many snakes lying in wait under the swamp pool, Lu Fan would have definitely sensed them.

Under Lu Fan’s perception, the appearance of these snakes was completely due to Array set up around the swamp pool.

This was a very rare Array Type Skill, though its specific Effects had not been made apparent just yet.

Still, since this was Lu Fan’s first time seeing an Array Type Skill, he was quite interested in its composition. Even before entering this area, he had already detected the eight Array points outside.

The eight Array points had also been hidden by Badan’s Skill, but like Badan himself, they could not escape his Black Dragon Perception.

Lu Fan was not afraid of this Array. If it was a Crowd Control Type Array, it would have no effect on him and Xiao Ye.

If it was an Attack Type Array, Xiao Cui could simply release Jade Shield to easily block it.

If the Array proved too troublesome, they could always have Xing Chen use Starry Space Passage to escape.

In short, a mere Array would not cause Lu Fan much trouble.

After these snakes appeared, even though she knew they were not real, Wei Ji was still scared pale. She quickly climbed up a nearby tree, not daring to stay among the snakes below.

Lu Fan watched the hellish scene below with interest, appearing completely unbothered as he spread his hands and asked. “And then? Is this Array just for show?”

Kiran was covered in mud but he still wore a triumphant smile. “Just for show? You’ll soon know the power of my Ten Thousand Snake Poison Array!”

As Kiran’s words fell, all the writhing snakes below suddenly raised their heads, opening their fanged mouths and beginning to spew out poison gas.

Although it was just a Skill Effect, the sight of hundreds of thousands or even millions of snakes simultaneously spewing poison gas across the swamp pool was enough to make one’s hair stand on end.

The poison gas rose from below, quickly enveloping the swamp pool.

Wei Ji, being at the lowest position, was the first to be affected by the snake poison. As soon as she came into contact with the poisonous mist, the affected areas began smoking and then swelling and festering.

Her expression was extremely poor, clearly affected by an extremely powerful poison Debuff.

Wei Ji cried out in pain, but before she could speak, the poison gas had completely surrounded her.

One could see her skin beginning to fester at a visible rate. Under such poisonous exposure, forget about her Attributes being greatly reduced – it was questionable whether she could even survive for half an hour.

The earlier ambush was just a test. This was Kiran and his group’s real killing move!
