Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 835: A One-Sided Battle

”Fish, hey, Sister Fish, why did you just start fighting them directly?”

Kui sighed as she watched Fish on the ground, strangling the snake descendant—or rather, since its upper body was serpentine, she should say she was squeezing its neck just below the snake head.

”Less chatter, more help! With five against five, weʼre not at a disadvantage, are we?”

Fish said, pressing the snake descendant firmly against the ground. Despite its thrashing and writhing, she showed no signs of letting go.

These snake descendants didnʼt seem as massive as the one Lin Yu and Fish had encountered underground. Each was only about a personʼs height, likely having deliberately shrunk their bodies to infiltrate Lilee.

And since they had no hands, once Fish pinned the snake head down, the creature could only twist, struggle, and kick its legs futilely without any means of escape.

In fact, because Fish was clearly squeezing with tremendous force, the snake descendant couldnʼt even open its mouth to breathe!

She was probably intending to choke the life out of it!

Yet despite already dominating the one-on-one fight, she still called for help...

Naturally, because there wasnʼt just one snake descendant.

Not long after Fish crashed down while strangling this one, the other four snake descendants also leaped down.

They immediately lunged at Fish, preparing to rescue their companion.

However, the remaining players werenʼt about to stand idly by.

Brother Qi made the first move—though heʼd only just woken up, his reaction was the fastest.

A curved blade resembling a crescent moon materialized in his hand, and with successive slashes, he forced three snake descendants back.

Just as the remaining snake descendant prepared to advance, a smear of paint splattered directly across its face.

Kui had already set up her easel and was daubing colors onto it.

The four snake descendants immediately retreated after being blocked, then opened their mouths in unison, spewing out greenish-blue breath.

But the breath had barely appeared before crimson flames ignited, rolling back against them.

”Boom!”

Phoenix tore a used magic scroll, and flames erupted from the solid wooden staff in her hand.

The snake descendants coordinated flawlessly, but these three players were no pushovers either.

As for Lin Yu...

As a ”Second Tier” player who had already exerted effort using his [Items] earlier and even negotiated the hidden Boss into leaving voluntarily, he was naturally presumed not to participate in this battle.

And while the three players here held their own against four opponents, Fishʼs one-on-one duel had already reached its conclusion.

Fish wasnʼt truly intending to choke the snake descendant to death. As it struggled, she had been waiting for the moment its strength waned.

The fear of life and death affects even dark creatures.

True enough, the snake descendantʼs movements slowed slightly, exposing an opening.

Fish wasnʼt about to let such a fleeting opportunity slip.

She released one hand, pulled out a peach wood sword clearly from the Prison Mountain Realm, and drove it fiercely into the snake descendantʼs head.

Though the peach wood sword wasnʼt sharp, it was evidently hard enough!

Under Fishʼs forceful strike, the sword practically smashed through most of the snake descendantʼs skull, then pierced the ground beneath it, pinning it down!

While the Abyss dark raceʼs generally robust vitality prevented the snake descendant from dying immediately, it was clearly unable to continue fighting.

Fish immediately pulled out the peach wood sword and, with one hand, drew [Grace] to support the other three players.

The three-against-four fight there was already nearing an advantage. With Fish joining in, the battleʼs momentum tilted decisively.

”Bang!”

A burst of blazing white light shot out, striking the leftmost snake descendantʼs body and exploding into a spray of blood.

Fishʼs accurate shot also momentarily stunned that snake descendant. Immediately after, Brother Qi swung his blade at another.

The curved blade clashed against the snake descendantʼs scales, producing a metallic ringing sound and spraying sparks!

Clearly, these snake descendants were quite tough—while Fishʼs peach wood sword could break through their defenses, Brother Qiʼs curved blade seemed unable to cut through their scales with sheer sharpness.

But since Brother Qi dared to strike, he naturally had his reasons.

Suddenly, black sludge seeped from the curved blade, creeping along the edge and slipping beneath the snake descendantʼs scales.

The cold-blooded reptileʼs features typically showed no human-like expressions, but at this moment, it suddenly displayed a look of ”pain.”

”Hiss—”

The snake descendant shrieked and collapsed to the ground.

The moment it fell...

”Boom!”

With an explosive roar, the roomʼs temperature suddenly rose.

On Phoenixʼs side, with her coordination, two snake descendants that had become trapped in endless colorful paint were engulfed by flames she summoned and silently crumpled to the ground.

In almost no time, all five snake descendants were completely neutralized, entirely incapable of further combat!

And Lin Yu hadnʼt even lifted a finger throughout.

Watching from the sidelines, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but remark.

”Sure enough... these five snake descendants had virtually no chance of winning in a direct confrontation against these four ʼThird Tiers.ʼ”

The excessively easy battle also made Phoenix frown.

”Itʼs much easier than I expected... Among these five, only the one Fish took down had reached the threshold of Monarch-tier without formally advancing.”

”The other four were just slightly stronger Lord-tiers.”

Brother Qi let out a breath. ”One-on-one might have been a bit troublesome... but when ʼPlayersʼ cooperate, weʼre far more formidable than these monsters.”

Though they knew each other, they were clearly not familiar partners.

Yet even so, their coordination still produced an effect greater than the sum of their parts.

”But even so, these dark creatures are still a bit weak,” Phoenix remained skeptical. ”It feels... somewhat counterintuitive.”

”Maybe itʼs because the real challenge of this [dungeon] is actually finding these dark creatures,” Kui analyzed. ”Plus that hidden Inquisitor of the Tribunal. If not handled properly, he would have been a major problem. Itʼs just fortunate we had Fish and Schreiber to negotiate and eliminate the Inquisitor of the Tribunal ahead of time.”

”That also helped us locate these snake descendants.”

Hearing Kuiʼs praise, Lin Yu humbly replied, ”Itʼs mostly luck, really...”

”Iʼm not actually thinking from the [dungeon] difficulty perspective. Iʼm just wondering—with just these five snake descendants, theyʼre not exactly weak, but can they really cast the Death Sleep Technique to plunge an entire city into ʼslumberʼ?”

Phoenix said doubtfully, then added.

”Also, how did the five of them manage to bring in that [Item] capable of sealing off all of Lilee—a cross-boundary [Item] from Pure Abyss—right under our noses?”
