Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 649: Locked Room and Falling into Water

Lin Yu admitted that knocking out Chen Yongde was a gamble.

But from the results, he had bet correctly.

At the very least, attacking the villagers of Chen Family Fort didnʼt trigger any chain reaction—these villagers werenʼt important to the Mastermind.

If they were important enough, the Mastermind probably wouldnʼt have let Chen Yongde endure the scorching midday heat, nearly dying from it, just to chat with them.

However…

Although knocking out Chen Yongde didnʼt trigger anything unusual, that didnʼt mean they were in the clear.

”Letʼs go. Since this old man showed up here, it means the Mastermind has already noticed our actions.”

”And… it seems he doesnʼt want us entering this house, which indirectly suggests we might be in the right place.”

After speaking, Lin Yu left Chen Yongde where he was and walked to the door.

The door was bolted from the inside. Lin Yu pushed from the outside but couldnʼt open it.
He frowned slightly.

That was strange…

If this house had been uninhabited for a long time, why was it bolted from the inside?

”So itʼs a door bolt. Female Warrior, let me use my saber to pry it open from the crack.”

Yue Zhenqiao seemed to misunderstand Lin Yuʼs frown and quickly spoke, then handed over his saber.

Lin Yu shook his head.

”No need.”

Then he stepped back, spun around, and delivered a vicious side kick to the door.

”Bang!”

”Crack!”

The door bolt snapped, and the door flew open under Lin Yuʼs kick, revealing the interior of the stone house.

Lin Yu strode inside.

”Letʼs go.”

He said calmly.

Yue Zhenqiao, watching from behind, smiled wryly as if used to it by now.

”Right… This Female Warrior could take down the Mountain Demon Leader in one move. Opening a door hardly needs my help.”

Wu San and Liu Chengyang behind him were once again awed by Lin Yuʼs strength and quickly caught up.

The four entered the house, and Lin Yu surveyed the furnishings.

A stone bed, a stone table, a wooden cabinet—the furnishings were simple and sparse, indeed looking as if no one had lived here for a long time.

But Lin Yu quickly noticed something was off.

He walked to the bed and lifted the straw mat—though he only lifted a corner, the mat folded along a specific crease.

This was a mark left by repeated folding in that spot.

And after Lin Yu lifted it, the stone bedʼs surface was revealed—it wasnʼt a single slab but made of several strip-shaped stones.

Lin Yu lightly ran his fingers over these stone strips and quickly found a few that were different.

Pressing his finger against them, he felt faint air currents coming from the narrow gaps—proving there was a ventilated space beneath.

”Come over here.”

Lin Yu called to the three dart masters, who gathered around, confused.

”Female Warrior, is there something strange about this bed?”

Wu San asked, puzzled.

”There should be a hidden passage under these stone strips, leading to some locked room,” Lin Yu explained. ”So we need to open this up.”

”Does anyone here know about mechanisms?”

Lin Yu asked.

Since it was a locked room, there might be self-destruct or protective mechanisms, so he couldnʼt just kick it open like the door.

Thus, Lin Yu wanted to hear the localsʼ opinions.

After all, he didnʼt know much about mechanisms in the Prison Mountain Realm.

All three dart masters shook their heads.

But after shaking his head, Yue Zhenqiao spoke up: ”Female Warrior, although I donʼt know mechanisms, these hidden rooms are still meant for people to use, so there must be a concealed switch outside…”

Lin Yu cut him off: ”I know that… Iʼm asking because Iʼm not familiar with the mechanism styles here in the Fire Hell. I do have some knowledge of them.”

Lin Yu said, then nudged Old Zheng.

”Find the switch for me.”

Old Zheng sighed helplessly: ”Boss, finding inanimate objects isnʼt really my specialty…”

”Itʼs fine, just try your best. Iʼll have Hannah assist you.”

Lin Yu said, and after a long time, he summoned Hannah.

After giving Hannah instructions, the little octopus camouflaged herself and slipped into the gaps between the stone strips.

While Old Zheng and Hannah began searching, Lin Yu also started looking around.

But everyone had their own expertise—Lin Yuʼs search efficiency was still a bit lower than Old Zhengʼs and Hannahʼs, especially since he had to maintain an air of professionalism while searching.

Fortunately, Hannah was reliable enough.

”Croak! I found it, Director!”

”I followed the mechanical transmission structure in the gap and found a lever in the hidden compartment behind the cabinet. Pulling it will open the entrance to the locked room.”

”Good work, Hannah. You can rest now.”

Lin Yu praised Hannah and then recalled her—though the temperature in this stone house was much lower than outside, with forty degrees Celsius almost feeling cool, it was still a bit hot and dry by Hannahʼs standards.

Following Hannahʼs report, Lin Yu calmly walked to the cabinet.

He opened the door, removed the partition, and found the hidden compartment, revealing a lever.

”Here it is.”

Lin Yu said, then pulled the lever.

”Creak…”

A heavy sound came from the stone bedʼs direction. Lin Yu turned to see the three stone strips beneath the mat retract into the wall, revealing a downward passage.

”There really is a mechanism and passage!”

Liu Chengyang exclaimed in surprise.

”Of course there is. Did you think the Female Warrior would lie to us?”

Yue Zhenqiao said, stepping forward: ”Female Warrior, let me go down first to scout the path.”

With that, Yue Zhenqiao rummaged through his travel bag, pulling out a hemp rope, a fire striker, and a box of talismans, then walked to Wu San and Liu Chengyang.

”Wu San, tie the rope properly. Weʼll follow cave exploration rules.”

”Liu Chengyang, help me stick some obstacle-avoiding and disaster-avoiding talismans on myself, then give me your signal arrow.”

Wu San and Liu Chengyang nodded and were about to secure the rope and apply the talismans.

But in that time, Lin Yu was already standing by the bed.

”No need to be so troublesome. Iʼm more capable than all of you combined… the strongest should scout.”

”And… I donʼt need that much preparation.”

Lin Yu said, pulling out the Fear Torch and lighting it.

Pale flames illuminated every corner of the room.

”You donʼt even need to come down. Just stand watch up here. If I need you to come down… Iʼll call you!”

Lin Yu said, then holding the torch, he jumped straight down.

Before Yue Zhenqiao and the others could stop him, they saw Lin Yuʼs figure disappear.

Moments later, a ”splash” sounded from below.

”Thereʼs water! Itʼs safe!”

Lin Yuʼs calm voice came from below.

But shortly after, his voice turned into a curse.

”No, itʼs not fucking safe at all—how the hell is this boiling water?!”
