Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 590: The Suspect

As Lin Yu had said, the teachers who ran the infirmary had clearly gone for their lunch break, so the infirmary door was locked and bolted from the inside.

But of course that was nothing for Li Nian, who was famed as a Master Thief.

For a school door lock like this, Li Nian did not even need any game items. She took two hairpins off her head, covered her hands with her body, poked them into the keyhole and clicked them twice, and the infirmary door opened.

”Letʼs go.”

Lin Yu followed Li Nian closely, slipping through the narrow gap created by the opened infirmary door.

The two of them entered the infirmary.

Then Lin Yu commented again…

”What an impressive infirmary.”

Although it was called an ”infirmary,” its size matched many community clinics.

And the equipment inside was very complete: pulse oximeters, an AED, ventilators, everything one would expect.
Sure enough, wealthy people cared a great deal about their childrenʼs safety and health.

Li Nian curled her lips. ”Itʼs okay. Anyway, there are six resident school doctors. I think two of them look a bit like Players.”

Li Nian pointed to the wall, where photos of Shengle Middle Schoolʼs six school doctors were hung.

”That one named Cheng Mingwen, and the one named Lin Ruizhe, both seem suspicious.”

As she spoke, Lin Yu looked at the two men Li Nian indicated on the wall.

Cheng Mingwenʼs profile said he used to be the chief physician at Jiangcheng Second Hospital. He looked like a typical older doctor—though he appeared only in his forties, his hair was already thinning, and he had heavy bags and dark circles under his eyes.

Lin Ruizhe, who came from Lin Yuʼs extended family, had graduated from the Traditional Chinese Medicine University with top marks. He looked like a handsome young man with slightly long, ear-length curly hair and a somewhat melancholic temperament.

”Lin Ruizhe, huh? With that resume and that age, itʼs a bit odd for him to be working as a school doctor.”

Lin Yu rubbed his chin and said.

Li Nian agreed.

”Right? Iʼve always thought that guy was weird.”

”But those two arenʼt Edwin. Want to check somewhere else? Donʼt you have other suspects?”

Li Nian shook her head. ”After I calmed down and thought about it, other teachers and students just donʼt look as suspicious as these two. Even if you rule out the ʼDoctorʼ profession factor, these two still stand out...”

Lin Yu shrugged. ”Alright, I can only tell you this: theyʼre at least not members of the Psychological Society that I know… so even if they are Players, itʼs very likely theyʼre not with the Psychological Society.”

Although Lin Yu did not know many Psychological Society members, adding Old Zheng to the list made the count more considerable.

”You mentioned earlier that the Jiangcheng branch of the Psychological Society only has two people… Even if the Psychological Society has an undercover agent living in Jiangcheng whom most of their own people donʼt know about, itʼs better to assume for now that the person who contacted them on behalf of Dolantine might be from some other organization.”

Saying that, Li Nian walked straight to the two menʼs desks, put on a pair of rubber gloves, and began rifling through their personal effects and trying to unlock their computers.

Lin Yu listened to her analysis and watched her searching, then spoke in a measured tone.

”If thatʼs the case, let me use some of my other connections— you know I know May May.”

”Oh, Iʼve heard. Heʼs already become an assistant team leader for Order,” Li Nian paused here, ”so he hasnʼt blocked you?”

”How would he block me?”

Lin Yu said helplessly.

Li Nian stopped what she was doing and grinned slyly. ”First thing when someone reaches shore is to cut off lovers, huh…”

She seemed to have somewhat gotten used to Lin Yu appearing on campus and could joke about it now.

”Youʼre spreading rumors, right?”

Lin Yu lightly flicked Li Nianʼs forehead.

”Aiya, I was joking… Itʼs just that you joining the Psychological Society and him joining Order… if he still keeps in contact with you, thatʼs against Orderʼs rules and heʼd be punished.”

Li Nian said, then grew serious.

Lin Yu waved his hand nonchalantly. ”Itʼs fine, it wonʼt be found out.”

Then he walked to the other side of the room and took out his phone.

He used Zhu Mingʼs account to send a message to May May, then secretly switched to the phone interface May May used and sent a message to Good Night.

”Do we know any top-level Doctors in Jiangcheng?”

Good Night replied, ”Iʼll check for you.”

Lin Yu wasnʼt worried; after all, he wasnʼt really depending on him.

Zhu Ming messaging May May and Good Night messaging May May were just procedural, so that if anyone discovered any clue later, they would see a normal message trail.

Lin Yuʼs real target to query, of course, was Shen Bingmiao!

He switched to his own phone and tapped Shen Bingmiaoʼs QQ account.

[Double Wood: Senior, help me check whether Cheng Mingwen and Lin Ruizhe in Jiangcheng are Players?]

[Nine Waters: Got it got it!]

Shen Bingmiao replied instantly.

A few seconds later she sent another message.

[Nine Waters: Cheng Mingwen is, his Class is Doctor, First-Tier, and heʼs affiliated with Jiangʼan Hall.]

[Nine Waters: Both of those two are staff at Shengle Middle School… Did you go find the Master Thief?]

[Double Wood: Yes, she said Dolantine came near Shengle Middle School and seemed to have contacted someone at their school.]

[Nine Waters: I remember a bit. But Dolantine knows Jiangcheng is my turf, so she was cautious and avoided me.]

[Nine Waters: Besides Cheng Mingwen and Li Nian, there are three other Players who often operate around Shengle Middle School.]

[Nine Waters: One is the logistics manager for Orderʼs Jiangcheng branch, ʼNorthern Shrimpʼ, real name Guan Tingrong, male, thirty-one, the contractor for Shengle Middle Schoolʼs cafeteria. His Class is Chef, Second Tier.]

[Nine Waters: Another is a registered bounty hunter with the Huntersʼ Association, forum ID ʼHe Jingʼ, Class Craftsman, First-Tier, who has recently gained some reputation. Both the Huntersʼ Association and the forum speak highly of her and say sheʼs reliable… but she isnʼt entirely a Shengle Middle School person.]

[Double Wood: Why do you say that?]

[Nine Waters: Because her real name is Zhao Xiuling. Sheʼs thirty-seven and is the parent of a student in Quality A class in second year. She rented a place to stay and accompany her son at school.]

[Nine Waters: Becoming a bounty hunter is likely just to supplement the family income.]

Lin Yu looked at this unusual mix and couldnʼt help but feel respect.

A devoted mother who normally accompanies her son to school, who in special circumstances transforms into a First-Tier bounty hunter to earn money for him.

[Nine Waters: The last one hasnʼt joined any organization nor been promoted. Heʼs still a freshman brat; ignore him.]

[Double Wood: Really ignore him?]

[Nine Waters: His forum ID is ʼEternalNight╳GodEaterʼ. If you really want, Iʼll send you his profile.]

[Double Wood: Then itʼs fine.]
