Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 580: Second Tier! Choosing Professional Tools!

After Lin Yu left the auditorium, more and more nobles gradually woke up.

And the first thing that caught their attention was the mountain of corpses piled up inside the auditorium!

The corpses of the powerful and influential, deliberately stacked by Lin Yu, were piled up neatly, drawing the gazes of the nobles who had just awakened from their unconscious state.

This cruel scene filled them with immense panic and bewilderment.

And the subconsciousness that had long been quietly implanted in their minds during their slumber began to take effect at this moment.

”Oh my god—who on earth did this?!”

”So many people are dead!”

”Look... even His Excellency Alt Mercury is dead!”

The highly visually shocking scene greatly shook everyoneʼs hearts, further diminishing their already compromised judgment.

Therefore, those viewpoints and thoughts that naturally surfaced seemed as if they had spontaneously arisen from within themselves.
And after the first few people screamed out in terror the news that ”Alt Mercury is dead,” this notion, combined with Altʼs peaceful appearance at this moment, the various rumors from before, and the chaos they witnessed before losing consciousness...

No one would even think to doubt that perhaps Alt Mercury was not dead.

These intense 『beliefs』 ultimately transformed into irrefutable ”truth.”

...

Outside the auditorium, at the main entrance of the Sleepless Night Family estate, Lin Yu, who had already resumed his original appearance, felt his 『Fraudster』 ability activate successfully and the fact of Altʼs death becoming 『true』. He let out a long sigh of relief.

Shortly after, the old Steward of the Sleepless Night Family came out and handed Lin Yu a sealed envelope.

”Respected Sir, this is what the Family Head asked me to deliver to you.”

Lin Yu took the envelope and casually opened it.

Then, looking at its contents, he raised an eyebrow.

Inside was a Truth Corporation B-1 level Department Head ID card and a Sleepless City Second-Class Resident card.

Attached was a complete set of ”identity documents,” detailing the entire life trajectory of a promising young man from the Sleepless Cityʼs Outer City named ”John H. Arthur,” from his birth to his step-by-step rise to becoming a Truth Corporation B-1 level Department Head and a Second-Class Resident.

The asset point rewards from Contract C-77 were naturally also stored under the account of ”John H. Arthur” in the form of savings accumulated over the years.

But compared to those asset points, this identity itself seemed like the most valuable reward.

A fake identity personally forged by the Sleepless Night Family Head, someone standing at the pinnacle of power and acting as both a maintainer and creator of the gameʼs rules, was already difficult to call a fake.

In other words, Lin Yu now had a genuine, legal identity within Sleepless City—if he were to play the role of an NPC within Sleepless City in the future, any Players or other NPCs would find it very hard to find flaws in his ”past” or within Sleepless Cityʼs databases.

Of course, ”mystery enthusiasts” like Fu Luo might notice that this name was a combination of ”John H. Watson” and Captain ”Arthur Hastings,” which could arouse some suspicion.

”Thatʼs quite a twisted sense of humor...”

In a way, although Sleepless Sky Huoxing seemed to be a completely different type of person from the benefit-driven Sleepless Night Family Head, perhaps her temperament was still somewhat inherited.

But regardless... this identity was very useful.

Lin Yu gratefully put away the identity cards.

”Thank you... Did the respected Sleepless Night Family Head have any additional instructions?”

”Yes, Sir. The Family Head asked me to convey a message to you,” the old Steward said respectfully. ”The Family Head said, ʼAfter the destroyed ceremony, the pointed-to deceased possesses the symbol of ʼthreads.ʼ”

Hearing this, Lin Yu was momentarily stunned, then nodded.

”I understand. Please thank the Family Head on my behalf.”

Lin Yu tipped his hat in salute, then stood up and left the entrance of the Sleepless Night Family estate.

Not long after leaving, Lin Yu felt the familiar sensation of weightlessness and dizziness wash over him again.

Then...

He opened his eyes and arrived for the second time within the white room-like 【Settlement Space】 unique to the completion of a 『Promotion』.

Immediately, lines of bloody text appeared before his eyes.

【Personal Dungeon Clear Objective: Complete Assassination Contract C-77 and successfully receive the reward.】

【Judging in progress... Objective completed】

【Congratulations, you have cleared the 『Personal Dungeon』 and completed this 『Promotion Trial』!】

Seeing this line of bloody text, Lin Yu finally felt a sense of tangible reality in his heart.

”『Second Tier』... finally!”

For Lin Yu, he could feel that as the 『Death Game』 progressed, his entanglement with it grew deeper and deeper.

Moreover, Lin Yu was well aware that due to some unknown factor within him, his circumstances were far more urgent and abnormal than those of ordinary 『Death Game』 Players.

But fortunately, he was finally 『Second Tier』 now... Whether it was for Revenge or dealing with the increasing malice coming his way.

Undoubtedly... he now had more ”confidence.”

Especially since the news of him being 『Second Tier』 was naturally concealed—who would think that someone who had just reached 『First-Tier』 not long ago could immediately achieve 『Second Tier』?

Coupled with the professional characteristics of a 『Fraudster』, if used properly, the fact that he was already 『Second Tier』 could potentially play a huge role.

【Having completed two 『Promotion Trials』, you have officially become a 『Second Tier』 Player.】

【Detected that your Class is 『Fraudster』. Please select the 『Second Tier』 Specialized Item you wish to obtain.】

”Here it comes!”

Then, four flashes of white light appeared before Lin Yu!

Four 『Second Tier』 【Specialized Items】 appeared before Lin Yu.

”Whoa, the moment of choice has arrived.”

Lin Yu scanned them at a glance. From left to right, they were: a quill pen, a small four-sided pyramid, a pile of golden powder, and a transparent film formed of lips, teeth, and a tongue.

The names of the four 【Specialized Items】 floated before Lin Yuʼs eyes.

【Narrative Trick】, 【Pyramid Scheme】, 【Public Opinion Forges Truth】, 【Honeyed Words and Fair Appearances】.

Lin Yu looked at these four 【Specialized Items】 but was in no hurry to check their detailed descriptions.

Lin Yu raised his wrist and rubbed the crow mark on it.

Even within this 【Settlement Space】, he could still feel the connection between the crow and himself.

Although all signs indicated that the 『Death Game』ʼs level of existence far surpassed that of gods...

A 『Death Game』 without a will of its own could still be exploited by gods in various ways.

Calmly, Lin Yu called out by flicking the mark on his wrist, using the opportunity left for him by the ”God of Truth and Falsehood and Change” to ask it a question.

”Hey, hey, hey, come out. I need to talk to you. Itʼs urgent.”

A moment later, accompanied by a ”coo,” a blurred, overlapping sound as if from thousands of voices rang out.

”Oh dear, what is it?”
