We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 567: He Said I Looked Very Pretty... (2 iin 1)

The next day, Xiao Mo came to Daoist Yunxi’s courtyard and told Daoist Yunxi that he accepted the proposal she had made before.

Seeing Xiao Mo agree, Daoist Yunxi quickly announced the news that Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng would soon be married.

The news soon spread throughout Seeking Immortality Temple.

After the disciples of Seeking Immortality Temple heard it, quite a few of them, both men and women, could not help sighing.

After all, there had always been many female disciples who secretly admired Xiao Mo, and even more male disciples who admired Gui Junmeng.

However...

Sad as the disciples of Seeking Immortality Temple were, in their hearts, they still approved greatly of Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng’s marriage.

Because when Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng stood together, they truly looked like a gifted man and a beautiful woman, a match made in heaven.

It was as though the two of them had been born to be a perfect pair. No matter who else was placed beside either of them, that person would seem somehow unsuitable.

Three days later, Daoist Yunxi calculated an auspicious date for Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng’s marriage according to their birth dates and hours. Their wedding ceremony was set for March of the following year.

Wedding invitations were sent one after another to the Human Alliance.

Gui Junmeng was Daoist Yunxi’s only direct disciple.

And Xiao Mo and Gui Junmeng were rare geniuses among the human race. Though young, they were already cultivators of the upper three realms, and in the future, they were destined to shoulder the great responsibility of the human race.

Therefore, their marriage naturally drew the attention of countless people.

Barring any accidents, those with status and reputation in the Human Alliance would all attend when the time came.

By then, the scale of the wedding would certainly not be small.

This also kept all of Seeking Immortality Temple busy.

The entire Seeking Immortality Temple became busy as if wound tight. Not only did every detail of the wedding have to be carefully arranged, they also had to make thorough preparations to welcome guests from every direction.

Because Liu Shui handled matters meticulously and thoughtfully, and because she was familiar with both Gui Junmeng and Xiao Mo, she naturally became the main person in charge of the wedding arrangements.

From procurement to decoration, everything proceeded in perfect order under Liu Shui’s direction.

Strip after strip of bright red silk was hung high between the corridor pillars and eaves of Seeking Immortality Temple, fluttering lightly in the wind.

Large red “double happiness” characters were pasted neatly on the window lattices.

Every red lantern adorned each corner of the Daoist temple just right.

The solemn, tense atmosphere that had hung over the Daoist temple because of years of war seemed to be quietly diluted by this approaching wedding.

One morning, Gui Junmeng folded her hands before her and walked alone through Seeking Immortality Temple.

During these days, whenever she had free time, she liked to walk quietly through the temple like this and look around, watching every part of the Daoist temple turn red little by little.

As she looked at the increasingly festive decorations, the woman’s eyes blinked softly, pure gentleness and anticipation rippling within them.

For Gui Junmeng, from childhood to adulthood, there had always been very, very few things she wanted.

Every day, from the moment she opened her eyes until she closed them again, her heart was filled with cultivation.

When she was very young, she had already learned of her own background. She knew she had a younger sister, and she also knew that Mother “did not want” her.

But Gui Junmeng had never blamed her mother because of it.

Because in her heart, she also understood that Mother had not had it easy.

Only...

No matter how sensible a little girl was, in the end, she was still only a little girl.

When she was small, whenever Gui Junmeng saw children her own age in the Daoist temple holding their mothers’ hands as they walked past her, she would always stop without realizing it and quietly watch them for a while.

She would lower her head and look at her own fair, tender palm.

She would also secretly wonder what it would feel like if Mother held her hand.

When she was small, at night, she would also sit alone in the courtyard, raise her head, and stare dazedly at the sky full of stars.

She would wonder whether that younger sister who was far away at the edge of the world, whom she had never met, was living well.

But every time, Gui Junmeng would quickly stop those thoughts and no longer think about them.

Because she knew that if she thought too much, her heart would feel stuffy, and then it would not be easy to fall asleep...

Later, Gui Junmeng learned from her master that she had a fiancé, and that in the future, she would marry him.

“Master, what is a betrothal? And what is a fiancé?”

The little girl raised her head. Her clear, bright eyes looked at her master curiously. To the little girl, words like “betrothal” and “fiancé” were far too unfamiliar.

Daoist Yunxi crouched down, reached out, and gently stroked her disciple’s hair, explaining softly, “A fiancé is the man who will marry you in the future, Junmeng. He will become your husband, and he will always stay by your side, until your hair turns white, until the end of time.”

“Oh...”

Little Junmeng blinked, half understanding and half not.

She still did not quite understand what her master meant.

But from that moment onward, this little girl, who had originally only known how to bury her head in cultivation day after day, felt anticipation in her heart for the first time.

She began secretly imagining what her fiancé would be like.

“Junior Sister Junmeng...”

Just as Gui Junmeng was gradually sinking into thoughts of the past, a woman’s crisp call suddenly came from behind her.

“Senior Sister Han.” Gui Junmeng returned to her senses, turned around, and bowed to her senior sister.

“Junmeng, you really made me search for quite a while...” Senior Sister Han raised a hand and wiped the hot sweat from her forehead.

“Senior Sister, is something urgent?” Gui Junmeng tilted her head slightly, her eyes full of curiosity.

“What else could it be?” Senior Sister Han smiled helplessly. “Your wedding clothes are already finished. Come with me quickly and try them on. If there’s anywhere they don’t fit, we can take our time making alterations.”

“Hurry and come with me...”

Senior Sister Han was impatient by nature to begin with, and she knew very well how mild and unhurried her Junior Sister Junmeng’s temperament was, so without another word, she directly took Gui Junmeng by the wrist and hurried toward the courtyard.

When Gui Junmeng returned to the courtyard where she lived, several of her senior and junior sisters from the Daoist temple were already waiting inside the room.

The moment they ✧ NоvеIight ✧ (Original source) saw her return, they immediately crowded around her and pulled Gui Junmeng into the room.

Before Gui Junmeng could come back to herself, all the room’s shutters had already been lowered, the heavy curtains drawn tightly shut, and a spell formation to prevent outsiders from peeping was set up as well.

Immediately afterward, Gui Junmeng felt the tie at her waist being gently pulled, loosening slightly.

In only a short while, that plain Daoist robe silently slipped down around the woman’s fair, tender ankles.

The senior and junior sisters stared at Gui Junmeng’s exquisitely curved figure and skin as white and smooth as cream. For a moment, all of them froze.

In their hearts, they had actually known all along that Junior Sister Junmeng possessed beauty capable of toppling kingdoms, and that her figure was among the very finest.

But only when they truly saw the figure hidden beneath that spacious Daoist robe with their own eyes did they suddenly realize—they had still underestimated her!

The body hidden beneath that Daoist robe was even more astonishing than they had imagined. From head to toe, not the slightest flaw could be found. She was simply so perfect she did not seem like someone from the mortal world.

“Stop looking, stop looking. Hurry and help Junior Sister put on her bridal gown.” Senior Sister Han was the first to come back to herself. She called out repeatedly to the other junior sisters, even reaching out to knock them on the head one by one. “All of you—anyone who didn’t know better would think you were lust-starved ghosts.”

“Clearly, Senior Sister was the one staring the hardest just now...” several junior sisters lowered their heads and muttered softly.

Still, they quickly picked up the red wedding dress and, with many hands moving at once, helped Gui Junmeng dress properly.

Afterward, they pressed Gui Junmeng down to sit before the silver mirror and carefully combed her cloud-like hair, stroke by stroke painting on delicate makeup.

Finally, when Gui Junmeng lifted a piece of rouge paper with slender fingers and lightly pressed it between her lips, the instant her tender, thin lips were stained with bright red rouge, the senior and junior sisters beside her felt their hearts suddenly tighten. Even their heartbeats sped up beyond their control.

Even though they themselves were women, at this moment, an inexplicable flutter still inevitably rose in their hearts.

“Junmeng, you... you’re so pretty...” Junior Sister Yu stared blankly at Gui Junmeng in the mirror and could not help saying softly, her eyes full of amazement and envy.

“That’s right, Senior Sister. You really are too beautiful. In all my life, I’ve never seen a woman as pretty as you,” another junior sister could not help praising.

“Am I pretty?” Gui Junmeng looked at herself in the silver mirror. Her long, curled lashes fluttered gently, like butterflies dancing among flowers.

“Of course you’re pretty! If even you don’t count as pretty, then there probably aren’t any pretty women left under heaven.”

Senior Sister Han also nodded, extremely satisfied.

“As the saying goes, red wedding clothes are a woman’s most beautiful garments. Seeing it today, it really is true! But Junior Sister, take a look yourself. Is there anywhere the bridal gown or makeup still needs to be adjusted?”

“I... can’t really tell...” Gui Junmeng shook her head. She had never cared much about things like clothing and makeup, and she had never paid attention to them.

“All right, then. In that case, we’ll make the decisions ourselves.”

Senior Sister Han also understood in her heart that Junmeng had worn Daoist robes since she was small and had never even applied powder and rouge to her face. To make her propose any changes herself was truly making things difficult for her.

For the better part of an hour, the senior and junior sisters kept trying all kinds of makeup on Gui Junmeng. They also had her stand up and turn back and forth while they sketched the details of the bridal gown on a scroll.

Only, no matter what kind of clothing or adornments were placed on Gui Junmeng, everything looked far too perfect.

This instead put Senior Sister Han and the others in a difficult position. They actually did not know where to start.

“All right, Junmeng, wait in the courtyard for now. Don’t take off this bridal gown yet, and don’t run around everywhere again either. We’re going to fetch some new jewelry for you now and see which kind suits you better.” Senior Sister Han carefully instructed Gui Junmeng.

Gui Junmeng nodded gently to show that she understood, though there was still a touch of obedient softness in her eyes.

Before long, Senior Sister Han and the others all dispersed, leaving only Gui Junmeng alone in the courtyard, dressed in her bridal gown and sitting quietly.

“Meow~”

While Gui Junmeng was waiting for her senior and junior sisters to return, a soft cat’s cry sounded.

A calico cat stepped lightly into the courtyard at an unhurried pace.

This little female calico cat had been living at Seeking Immortality Temple for five or six years already. Gui Junmeng and Xiao Mo often fed it, so they could be considered familiar with one another.

Gui Junmeng bent down, picked up a pastry from the stone table, and leaned slightly forward to hand it to the cat.

The calico cat stretched out a paw, dragged the pastry over, and finished eating it in a few bites. Then it leaped onto Gui Junmeng’s lap and curled up there steadily.

Gui Junmeng reached out with her small hand and gently stroked its soft fur.

In the woman’s warm embrace, the calico cat yawned comfortably, licked its paw, narrowed its eyes, and grew drowsy.

But a little while later, the calico cat suddenly raised its head again, pricked up its ears, and meowed toward the outside of the courtyard.

Following its gaze, Gui Junmeng raised her head and looked over. Where her gaze landed, she saw Xiao Mo standing outside the courtyard gate, his expression calm as he looked at her.

Their eyes met, and for a moment, neither spoke. Between the two of them, there seemed to be a faint trace of soft intimacy.

“Just now... Senior Sister Han and the others brought the bridal gown over and said I should try it on.” Gui Junmeng was the first to explain. As she spoke, she slowly lowered her head, and her voice also grew softer.

Even she herself could not say why she needed to explain that.

Earlier, when her senior and junior sisters had fussed over her in the room, she had not felt anything.

But now, wearing this bridal gown and being looked at by Xiao Mo like this, a faint sense of shyness rose uncontrollably in her heart.

“So that’s how it is.” Xiao Mo nodded gently. “Daoist Yunxi recently obtained a Daoist classic and said it might be of some benefit to you. I brought it over for you. May I come in?”

“Mm.” Gui Junmeng nodded gently.

Only after receiving permission did Xiao Mo step into the woman’s courtyard and lightly place the book in his hand on the stone table beside her.

“I still have some things to handle, so I won’t disturb you further, Junmeng.” Xiao Mo bowed, then turned to leave.

“Xiao Mo...”

Just as Xiao Mo was about to turn and go, Gui Junmeng softly called out to him.

Xiao Mo turned around and looked at the woman before him, dressed in a bridal gown. He asked gently, “Is there something else, Junmeng?”

Gui Junmeng raised her head. Her clear eyes looked straight at Xiao Mo as she asked softly, “Just now, Senior Sister asked me if there was anything about the bridal gown or makeup that needed changing, and I couldn’t answer... What do you think... is it pretty?”

“It is.” Xiao Mo nodded, without the slightest perfunctory note. “It really is very pretty.”

Hearing Xiao Mo’s praise, Gui Junmeng could not help lowering her head again. A faint blush quietly rose on her cheeks, and her voice was so soft it seemed afraid of disturbing something. “Th-thank you...”

“I’m only telling the truth.” Xiao Mo smiled slightly and said, “Then I’ll take my leave first.”

“Mm.” Gui Junmeng answered softly, the shyness in her words like that of a newly wedded wife. “You... come back early...”

Xiao Mo was slightly startled. Then he nodded and said softly, “All right...”

A clear breeze brushed past, and Xiao Mo’s figure disappeared from the woman’s courtyard.

Gui Junmeng still sat on the stone stool, lowering her head and gently stroking the calico cat in her arms.

“Little Calico... did you hear that?”

She looked at the little cat in her arms, her tone as gentle as white clouds drifting softly.

The woman’s red, tender lips curved faintly, like a narcissus quietly blooming in the spring breeze.

“He said...”

“I looked very pretty...”
