We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 552: In This Life of His, I Want to Try (2 in 1)

Half an incense stick later.

On the rugged mountain path of Mount Sikong, winding down toward the foot of the mountain.

A man in monk’s robes was carefully carrying a woman on his back, walking down the mountain one step at a time.

Xiao Mo’s arms were gently hooked beneath the hollow of the woman’s knees, doing his best to avoid touching her thighs, only wanting to maintain a monk’s propriety and distance.

But the woman seemed to find that uncomfortable. From time to time, she shifted slightly, adjusting her posture.

Without him realizing it, Xiao Mo’s broad, solid hands had quietly come to rest on the woman’s shapely thighs.

And even through the coarse linen trousers, Xiao Mo could faintly feel the elasticity and softness of her thighs.

What was more, on the mountain path, he had to step over roots blocking the road and larger stones from time to time. There were even some gullies he had to cross.

So the whole journey was inevitably somewhat bumpy.

And the woman’s figure was already exceptionally lovely, her curves like a winding stream. Added to that, she seemed to have not the slightest guard against Xiao Mo, and her soft, delicate body tilted forward from time to time with the swaying.

As a result, Xiao Mo’s back often felt the warm touch brought by those two soft masses before the woman’s chest.

That feeling was as though the clouds in the sky had been gently kneaded into two clusters, and those two clusters of cloud were softly, heavily pressing against his back.

“Miss,” Xiao Mo called softly, arranging his words in his mind.

“Monk, what is it? Am I too heavy?” The woman tilted her head slightly. Her gaze fell on Xiao Mo’s side profile, and her tone was sweet and soft.

“No, Miss is very light. Only, Miss, you may support yourself with your hands on my shoulders,” Xiao Mo reminded her tactfully, a trace of helplessness hidden in his tone.

“But aren’t I already supporting myself with my hands on your shoulders...”

As the woman spoke, she leaned fully over Xiao Mo’s shoulder with the motion. Those two soft clouds seemed to be squeezed into the shape of flattened persimmons, pressed tightly against Xiao Mo’s spine.

She seemed not to care at all about such intimate contact. Her whole person simply pressed openly against Xiao Mo, as if all of it were only natural.

The strands of hair falling from the woman’s head also brushed against Xiao Mo’s ear from time to time. Each time they swept past, they brought a faint fragrance, like wildflowers blooming in the mountains, quiet and elegant without being cloying.

Seeing the woman so “unconcerned with minor details,” Xiao Mo did not know what to say for a moment. He could only shake his head helplessly, thinking to let it go. There was not much road left anyway, so he continued carrying her down the mountain.

The woman looked at Xiao Mo’s somewhat embarrassed cheeks, and the corners of her lips could not help curving into a beautiful arc. A little slyness filled her eyes, as if she were secretly pleased because she had teased such an innocent young man.

Of course, for the woman, in this life, she had only ever teased him.

“Is Miss a villager from Cloud Village?” Xiao Mo changed the subject, asking as if casually.

“Mm.” The woman nodded gently. Her voice was crisp and pleasant, like a spring in the mountains ringing clear.

“The village where I lived before was destroyed by the demon race...”

She paused, and a faint layer of dejection colored her tone.

“I fled with my aunt, but halfway through, my aunt was lost too, and I could never find her again. But before that, my aunt said I had another aunt who lived in a place to the east called Cloud Village, so in the end, I found Cloud Village.”

“But I never expected that when I arrived at the village, that aunt I had never met before had already passed away.”

The woman’s voice lowered a little more, and she gave a soft sigh.

“The village chief saw that I was pitiful, so he let me settle down in the village and live in my aunt’s old courtyard.”

“So that is how it was.” Xiao Mo nodded, and could not help remembering the woman the villagers had kept mentioning before, the one “as beautiful as a fairy.”

It should be her.

“Say, monk...”

Perhaps because she felt the road was too quiet, the woman tilted her head slightly. Her warm, gentle breath brushed lightly past Xiao Mo’s ear. Her beautiful fox-like eyes blinked as she looked at his side profile with some curiosity.

“How many years have you been a monk?”

“Eighteen years,” Xiao Mo answered calmly.

“Eighteen years?” The woman was full of surprise when she heard that. “You... you don’t look that old, do you? You should be about the same age as me, right?”

“This humble monk has just turned eighteen this year,” Xiao Mo said truthfully with a slight smile. “The abbot said that when I was little, someone abandoned me at the temple gate, and Sikong Temple took me in. So counted that way, this humble monk has been a monk almost from birth.”

“So that’s how it is...” The woman’s eyes shifted left and right twice, as if she were thinking of something. Then her tone carried a hint of teasing. “Then that means you didn’t become a monk willingly back then, right? In your daily life, have you ever thought about... returning to secular life?”

“That, I have not.” Xiao Mo shook his head frankly, then asked in puzzlement, “But why does Miss ask that?”

“Because I heard monks have to keep all sorts of strange rules.” As the woman spoke, she bent her slender white-jade fingers one by one and counted them out. “For example, you can’t drink wine.”

“And for another example, you can’t eat meat.”

“Most importantly, you can’t marry and have children.”

“Logically speaking, as long as a man is normal, he’ll always want to marry a wife, won’t he?”

Her eyes blinked as she looked at Xiao Mo.

“Holding a soft, fragrant wife in your arms every day as you fall asleep—isn’t that a very, very wonderful thing? Are you really planning to guard an untouched body for the rest of your life? Wouldn’t that make this whole life a waste?”

“That, I have never thought about either.” Xiao Mo’s tone remained peaceful. “Actually, reciting Buddhist scriptures every day is quite good too. As for marrying and having children... having a family is naturally good, but after marriage, there are also the troubles that come with marriage.”

“Oh—” The woman drew out the sound, her little mouth pouting lightly, a somewhat puffed-up anger appearing between her brows and eyes.

Behind Xiao Mo, her right hand quietly clenched into a delicate fist, as if she very much wanted to knock Xiao Mo’s blockhead awake with one punch.

But in the end, the woman held herself back and did not continue the topic.

By evening, Xiao Mo had carried the woman all the way into the village and brought her into the courtyard where she lived.

“Do you need me to call the village chief’s wife over? Miss, your ankle is twisted, and living alone, daily life may be somewhat inconvenient.” Xiao Mo looked around the cold, empty courtyard and asked with concern.

“There’s no need. I can still take care of myself.” The woman shook her head. Her tone carried a little ease. “Later, I’ll find a stick to lean on. I won’t trouble anyone else.”

“In that case, this humble monk will take his leave first.” Xiao Mo took a small medicine jar from his sleeve and placed it gently on the table, instructing her, “Miss should apply this medicine to your ankle every day. Within three days, it should recover.”

“Thank you, monk.” The woman happily put the medicine jar away and looked at him with crescent-curved eyes. “But I still haven’t properly thanked you. Why don’t you stay for dinner, monk? I’m not boasting, but my cooking is quite good.”

“Thank you for your kindness, Miss.” Xiao Mo joined his palms and bowed. “Only, the abbot is still waiting for me to return to the temple and report back. Also, with only a lone man and a lone woman here, it would be improper for this humble monk to linger.”

“All right then...” A trace of disappointment flashed quietly through the woman’s eyes, but she still smiled and said farewell. “Be careful when you go up the mountain.”

“Thank you for your concern, Miss. Then, Miss, this humble monk takes his leave.” Xiao Mo nodded, then turned and walked toward the courtyard gate.

“Monk...” Xiao Mo had only walked a few steps when the woman’s call came from behind him.

“Does Miss have something else?” Xiao Mo stopped and turned back.

“Monk, you saved me, but I don’t know your name.” The woman smiled gently, her brows and eyes picturesque.

“This humble monk’s Dharma name is—Queyin.”

“Queyin...” The woman repeated it softly, as though engraving those two words in her heart. “Then, Master Queyin, my name is Xiao Jingci. Make sure you remember it.”

Hearing the woman’s name, Xiao Mo smiled slightly and nodded gently.

“Hey, monk, don’t just nod without saying anything. I said my name is Xiao Jingci. Did you remember it or not?” The woman pouted slightly, waiting for Xiao Mo’s answer.

“I have remembered it,” Xiao Mo answered.

“Not only do you have to remember it, you have to remember it firmly.” The woman’s smile was full and bright. “You’re my benefactor. You can’t forget me cleanly after a couple of days.”

“Do not worry, Miss. This humble monk has always had a very good memory,” Xiao Mo promised. “I will not forget.”

“That’s good. Then hurry back. In a little while, the sky will be dark.” The woman waved a hand, watching Xiao Mo turn and walk out of the courtyard.

And just as Xiao Mo left the courtyard, his figure completely vanishing from the woman’s sight.

The woman stood up as if nothing had happened at all, walked to the doorway, and kept looking in the direction Xiao Mo had left. Her gaze did not draw back for a long, long while.

“You still say you’ve always remembered...” The woman’s delicate hand lightly gripped the old doorframe, bleached pale with age. Her eyes trembled faintly, and her voice was so low only she could hear it. “Isn’t this... forgetting me...”

“But it’s all right... If you’ve forgotten, then we’ll begin again.”

A long time later, the woman withdrew her gaze and turned back into the courtyard.

Half an hour later, the gate to the woman’s courtyard was opened again. A woman also dressed in a linen blouse and skirt walked in.

The moment she entered, what came into view was her Young Lady drying clothes.

Crystal-clear drops of water shone in the dusk light, slowly sliding down her Young Lady’s fair, tender arms and refracting into specks of broken radiance.

In her Young Lady’s beautiful peach-blossom eyes, there seemed to be a few ripples of joy from the heart. Her brows and eyes were full of tenderness that could not be hidden.

“Young Lady? Why are you doing such rough work? Let me do it.” Yueshi hurried forward, reaching out to take the clothing from her Young Lady’s hands.

“It’s no trouble. It’s only washing and drying clothes.” Tushan Jingci shook her head slightly, her tone calm. “And right now, I’m only an ordinary woman. If I don’t know how to do any rough work at all, and Xiao Mo discovers that everything about me seems strange, wouldn’t I give myself away in front of him?”

She paused, then turned her head and asked casually, “Speaking of which, how are the sects nearby? Has everything been handled properly?”

“Reporting to Young Lady, the small sects around Luoyun Town have already submitted to Tushan. All of them obey Young Lady’s orders and absolutely would not dare come disturb Young Lady’s peace.”

Yueshi reported truthfully, then lifted her head and looked at her Young Lady.

“But Young Lady... have you... already seen him?”

“Mm.” When Tushan Jingci thought of him carrying her on his back as he walked along the mountain path, a gentle smile spread through her brows and eyes. “He is now a monk in Sikong Temple. He is still the same as before. Even his temperament is the same...”

“But Young Lady, he is a monk now, after all.” Yueshi weighed her words, her tone carrying some concern. “And according to the information we have collected recently, that abbot of Sikong Temple may not be simple.”

To be honest, she was terribly afraid that her Young Lady would do something irrational and forcibly snatch Xiao Mo away from the temple.

“I know what Sister Yueshi is worried about.” As Tushan Jingci hung the clothes in her hands on the bamboo pole, she said unhurriedly, “Don’t worry. I know my limits. I won’t fight Sikong Temple head-on to snatch him. And I don’t need to snatch him by force.”

“Young Lady already has an idea?” Yueshi asked.

“Sister Yueshi, think about it...” Tushan Jingci turned her head slightly. “Although Xiao Mo is a monk now, if he himself violates the precept against lust, can he still be a monk? Would he himself still be willing to be a monk?”

She slowly turned around. The corners of her lips curved faintly, and her brows and eyes carried a smile filled with certainty.

“If he does not want to be one, then what reason would that Abbot Yuankong have to stop Xiao Mo from leaving?”

“And besides...” Tushan Jingci’s voice gradually lowered, but her beautiful eyes sharpened little by little. There was even a faint trace of killing intent in them.

“Even if I truly mean to take him away, what can Sikong Temple do to me?”

She lifted her chin and looked toward Mount Sikong.

“In this life—I will not allow anyone to take Xiao Mo from my hands again.”

“Absolutely not!”

......

On Seeking Immortality Mountain, inside Seeking Immortality Temple.

A woman had already packed her belongings neatly.

She put her bundle into her storage pouch, gently closed the door, walked out of the courtyard, and followed the stone steps down toward the foot of the mountain one step at a time.

And just as she was about to leave the mountain gate, a woman still full of charm, dressed in Daoist robes, was already quietly waiting for her at the gate.

“Master.” Gui Junmeng walked forward and bowed respectfully.

“You are going to Mount Sikong?” Daoist Yunxi looked at her disciple and asked softly.

“Mm.” Gui Junmeng nodded. Her voice was gentle. “I want to bring him back to the temple.”

“Are you sure?” Daoist Yunxi shook her head lightly, her tone carrying some concern. “Your younger sister should already have arrived at Mount Sikong as well. She will not let you take him away.”

“I know...”

Gui Junmeng lowered her head slightly, her long lashes trembling faintly.

But very soon, she lifted her eyes. Her gaze was clear and firm as she looked straight at her Master.

“But Master...”

Her voice was not loud, yet every word fell clearly into the wind before the mountain gate.

“In this life of his, I want to try.”
