We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 103: You Must Not Get Tired of Looking

”Why?” Xiao Mo asked in confusion.

Shang Jiuli proudly lifted her fair little chin, as if saying ”Junior Brother, this attitude of yours makes it difficult for Senior Sister.”

Xiao Mo was stunned for a moment, then bowed respectfully to Shang Jiuli and asked reverently, ”Please enlighten me, Senior Sister.”

After her ”little vanity” as a senior sister was satisfied, Shang Jiuli stepped forward and whispered softly, ”Iʼm telling you, but you mustnʼt tell anyone else. The reason flood dragons find it difficult to undergo tribulation is because during the first great war between the human and demon races, the ancient sages of the Hundred Schools borrowed the fortune of the human race and sealed the fortune of all dragon-kind.

During that first human-demon war, both humans and demons tried their best to win over the dragon race. The reason was simple, actually the human race was quite close to the dragon race. After all, dragons had the innate divine ability to summon wind and rain, so most mortal dynasties had very good relationships with the dragon race.

Even common people would build temples for some dragon beings, which were dragon king temples. The dragons, borrowing the incense offerings from the peopleʼs worship, could also cultivate better. It was mutually beneficial.

But the demon race also had a good impression of their relationship with the dragon race. This wasnʼt hard to understand. No matter what, dragons could be considered demons.

Back then, the human race actually didnʼt expect the dragon race to help fight against the demon race, as long as the dragon race remained neutral it would be good enough but nobody knows what the demon race promised the dragon race. In the end, the dragon race joined the demon race.

The dragon race was already very powerful. The four sea dragon kings were all at Ascension realm, not to mention hundreds of flood dragons under their command ranging from Nascent Soul to Immortal realm, ruling over the four seas.

With the dragon race siding with the demon race, the four seas stood in opposition to the human race. This made it increasingly difficult for humans to fight against demons.
Fortunately, at that time there was a cultivator who led our human race in resistance. After that great battle, that cultivator perished completely, not even leaving behind his name. The ancient sages also refuse to mention him.

However, under his leadership, the human race barely won. The demon race was ultimately defeated, and the dragon race suffered countless casualties.

The ancient sages of the Hundred Schools took the opportunity to seal the dragon raceʼs fortune. The reason the sages did this was because everyone knew the demon race was unconvinced, especially since the four sea dragon clans had suffered too much and accumulated considerable resentment.

They worried that in the next human-demon war, if the dragon race participated, it would be very difficult for humans, so they simply cut off the dragon raceʼs retreat.”

”I see,” Xiao Mo nodded thoughtfully.

Shang Jiuli continued, ”I heard from my grandfather that for dragon-kind nowadays to successfully undergo tribulation, they need at least a sageʼs heart to assist them, to break through the seal for dragon-kind. Only then can they successfully undergo tribulation, otherwise itʼs almost impossible to succeed.”

”What is this sageʼs heart?” Xiao Mo asked again.

”A sageʼs heart is incredibly difficult to achieve. Take us Confucian scholars for example, to achieve a sageʼs heart, first you must reach the Immortal realm. Second, you must have your own insights into the scholarly path, at minimum you must write books and establish theories that gain recognition from the Heavenly Dao.

Currently, among the Confucian Academy and the four great academies, there are no more than six people who can reach this level. Even our teacher hasnʼt reached this level.

Moreover, using a sageʼs heart to lift the seal for dragon-kind requires sacrificing the sageʼs heart to heaven and earth as the price. So tell me, how could there possibly be a sage who would sacrifice themselves to help dragon-kind undergo tribulation?”

”...” Listening to Senior Sister Shangʼs words, Xiao Mo lowered his head in silence.

”Alright, thatʼs all Iʼll tell you. You absolutely cannot tell anyone else about this. Back then, I was also very interested in dragons and phoenixes, and kept pestering Grandfather until he was willing to tell me.” Shang Jiuli said with a smile.

”Please rest assured, Senior Sister.” Xiao Mo promised.

”Letʼs go. Donʼt oversleep tomorrow, remember to attend class. Since youʼre just starting, youʼll need to attend general lectures at first. After you make some progress, youʼll follow Teacher directly like we do.”

”Yes.”

Xiao Mo bowed respectfully and bid farewell to Senior Sister Shang.

On the way back, Xiao Mo was still thinking about the matter of the sageʼs heart.

Before he knew it, Xiao Mo had returned to the front of his courtyard.

In the courtyard, the woman in a white dress was carrying bedding out from the room to dry in the sun.

”Xiao Mo, youʼre back!”

Seeing Xiao Mo, the joy in the womanʼs peach blossom eyes overflowed.

”Mm, Iʼm back.”

Xiao Mo smiled as he entered the courtyard, helping Ruxue hang the quilts properly on the bamboo poles in the yard.

”Did you meet Teacher Qi?” Bai Ruxue asked.

”I did.”

”How is Teacher Qi?”

”Teacher Qi is a person with a free-spirited nature and very high learning. During this period, Iʼll first attend general lectures at the academy, then seek learning from Teacher Qi later.” Xiao Mo looked at the woman beside him, ”Itʼs just that during this time, I might leave early and return late, leaving you alone at home. Iʼm afraid youʼll be bored.”

”Itʼs fine.”

Bai Ruxue shook her head.

”I have many things to do too, like cleaning the courtyard, washing your clothes, and cooking meals for you to eat when you come back. I wonʼt be bored at all.”

”Really?” Xiao Mo smiled.

”Really, really.” Bai Ruxue nodded, ”Besides, because I know youʼll come back, I have something to look forward to every day. Whenever I see you return, I feel very happy.”

Hearing Ruxueʼs words, Xiao Mo felt slightly moved and reached out wanting to touch Ruxueʼs hair, but thinking of something, his palm hung in the air and never came down.

Seeing this, Bai Ruxue stepped forward and placed Xiao Moʼs hand on her head.

Under the manʼs large palm, Bai Ruxueʼs eyes narrowed as she nuzzled against Xiao Moʼs broad palm.

Looking at the woman before him acting like a small cat, Xiao Mo couldnʼt help but smile, ”Ruxue.”

”Mm?” Bai Ruxue blinked.

”Do you think I can become a Confucian Sage?” Xiao Mo asked.

”Eh?” Bai Ruxue looked puzzled, ”Why are you suddenly asking this?”

”Itʼs nothing.” Xiao Mo shook his head, ”Just suddenly thought of it. I heard Senior Sister say that every Confucian scholar aims to write books, establish theories, and achieve sagehood.”

”Emm,” Bai Ruxue touched her chin, ”Becoming a sage is very difficult, but I believe you can do it.”

”Then Iʼll work hard. When you taught me to read as a child, Ruxue, when I become a sage, youʼll be the sageʼs enlightenment teacher.” Xiao Mo said with a smile.

”The sageʼs enlightenment teacher, hehe~ that sounds quite nice.” Bai Ruxue thought this title was pretty good.

”Then Iʼve decided too. I want to cultivate well and transform into a true dragon.” Bai Ruxue clenched her small fists, ”After all, as an enlightenment teacher, I canʼt bring shame to the future Confucian Sage.”

Xiao Mo was slightly stunned, gently stroking her long hair as he smiled, ”Good, then Iʼll wait for that day. I havenʼt seen a true dragon yet. Youʼll definitely look beautiful in true dragon form.”

”Then Iʼll accompany you every day and show you every day.” Bai Ruxue pouted, ”You must not get tired of looking.”

”I wonʼt.”

Xiao Mo shook his head, looking directly into the womanʼs eyes.

”Iʼll never get tired of looking.”
