We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 62: Xiao Mo, I Will Wait for You to Return

Bai Ruxue ran out of the courtyard.

Little Green chased after her, but her sisterʼs cultivation level was far too high, and she quickly disappeared from sight.

Walking through Stone Bridge Village, the more Bai Ruxue looked at everything in the village, the more familiar it felt.

Without realizing it, Bai Ruxue arrived in front of the courtyard of the villageʼs deceased old village chief.

She pushed open the bamboo gate, stepped inside, and reached out to wipe the windowsill, which was already covered with a thick layer of dust.

Leaving the courtyard, Bai Ruxue continued walking aimlessly.

After an unknown amount of time, Bai Ruxue came to a grave.

”Tomb of Wang Can, clerk of Qingshan County and village chief of Stone Bridge Village.”

”Tomb of Chen Hong, wife of Wang Can.”

Looking at these familiar names, Bai Ruxueʼs head ached faintly again, and sadness arose in her heart.
She knew them, but she had forgotten them.

Even more, she had forgotten a very, very important name.

A name more important than her own life.

Turning around, Bai Ruxue continued walking.

The setting sun melted like gold, heavily sinking toward the western mountains, dyeing the horizon a soft orange-red and deep purple.

Evening mist spread quietly like thin gauze. That large setting sun stretched the womanʼs shadow on the ground extraordinarily long and thin, like a river of ink silently flowing across the quiet grassland and cold tombstones.

In front of the tombstones, the woman had just placed several fresh wildflowers she had picked.

Bai Ruxue went up the mountain, choosing a small path that felt familiar to her.

Halfway up the mountain, Bai Ruxue stopped.

A stone appeared before Bai Ruxueʼs eyes.

It was clearly just an ordinary stone, but the more she looked at it, the more her head hurt.

She pressed her forehead as strange yet familiar scenes appeared uncontrollably in her mind.

[”Hey! Little scholar, youʼre here. Iʼve been waiting for you for so long.”

A girl in a white dress saw the young man riding a big black ox up the mountain and stood up happily.

”Does the young lady want to ride the ox again today?” the young man asked with a smile.

”Yes, yes, quickly, I want to ride the ox with you.”

”Alright.” The young man patted the big black ox, and it walked in front of the girl and lay down.

The girl mounted the back of the big black ox, sitting behind him.

He read books.

She swung her little feet under her dress, listening to him read.]

[”Where are you?”

”You big fool.”

”Why havenʼt you come back yet?”

”Iʼm giving you one last, last chance. If you donʼt appear tomorrow, Iʼm really going to be angry.”

”Iʼll never talk to you again!”

One night.

After waking up, the young girl sat on the stone, waiting for a scholar.

The scholar said he was going to take exams, so he had to leave for a while but the scholar had said that when spring came next year, he would return.]

[”In my spare time, I carved this hairpin, wanting to apologize to her, but now it seems sheʼs no longer waiting for me, and this hairpin is no longer needed.”

”Who says itʼs not needed? I want it!”

”Miss, this hairpin is for Miss Bai Ruxue.”

”I am Bai Ruxue.”

”But miss, you just said you werenʼt...”

”Did I say I wasnʼt Bai Ruxue?”

The young girl smiled like a flower, reaching for the hairpin.

”Quickly, help me put it on.”]

[”I donʼt want to cultivate!”

The grown-up young girl angrily looked at the man before her.

”Become an immortal? So what?”

The woman clenched her fists tightly.

”An immortal path without you is not the path I want to walk!”]

”Who is he?”

”What is his name?”

Fragmented scenes flashed through Bai Ruxueʼs mind.

Bai Ruxue looked at the stone before her, her eyes trembling violently.

In the broken scenes, his figure was so familiar but Bai Ruxue just couldnʼt remember his appearance clearly, could never recall his name.

After a long time, Bai Ruxueʼs headache gradually disappeared.

Bai Ruxue sat on this stone for a long while, trying to remember more but the memories remained stubbornly blurred.

She stood up and continued walking up the mountain.

Night had already drawn its curtain across the sky.

When Bai Ruxue reached the mountaintop, the stars had already adorned the night sky.

Bai Ruxue stood on the mountaintop, the Milky Way right overhead, as if within reach.

She gazed at the mountains, at the myriad lights of homes not far below at the foot of the mountain, and her head began to ache again.

More scenes flashed through Bai Ruxueʼs mind.

[”Shout quickly, shout quickly.”

”Youʼll feel better if you shout it out.”

”You need to feel better, otherwise Iʼll be unhappy too!”

The woman brought him to the mountaintop because he was in a bad mood.

She didnʼt like seeing him with a worried, frowning face.

”Do I really have to shout?” The man felt somewhat embarrassed.

”Yes, yes! You must shout!”

”Alright.”

The man gathered his courage and shouted loudly, ”A hundred years is so short!”

”Eh? Youʼre troubled by this?” The woman laughed and stepped forward, shouting in the same direction, ”How is a hundred years short? A hundred years is very long!”]

”Who exactly are you?”

”Why, why canʼt I remember what you look like?”

”Why canʼt I recall your name?”

Bai Ruxue sat on the grass, hugging herself tightly, tears gradually soaking her dress.

After crying for an unknown length of time, when Bai Ruxue stood up, a brocade box fell from her sleeve.

Bai Ruxue picked up the box and opened it.

Inside was a golden ring engraved with patterns of purple sun grass and blue waterfall flowers.

[”This time I went to Qingshan Town specifically to make this ring. Ruxue, will you marry me?”

The woman raised her head, looking at him with eyes like ripples on a spring lake:

”Next spring, when you return from the metropolitan examination.”

”Come and marry me.”

”Then I will marry you.”]

”Xiao Mo...”

On the mountaintop, Bai Ruxue slowly spoke this name.

”Xiao Mo!”

”Xiao Mo!”

”Xiao Mo!”

As if afraid she might forget again, the woman repeated it over and over.

[”Xiao Mo, will you teach me to read and write?”]

[”Xiao Mo, will you come play with me tomorrow?”]

[”Xiao Mo, I want to go down the mountain with you.”]

With each repetition, the memories in the womanʼs mind came together like pieces of a puzzle, one piece after another.

”I remember... I remember everything...”

The woman turned around and ran down the mountain.

[”Xiao Mo, my cooking is delicious!”]

[”Xiao Mo, look, new clothes for you.”]

[”Xiao Mo, you should eat more mutton to have strength for studying.”]

Tree branches tore the womanʼs dress.

The woman didnʼt care and continued running down the mountain.

[”Xiao Mo, shall I keep this ring for you?”

”Keep it with you?”

”Of course Iʼll keep it.” The woman turned around and whispered, ”What if you give it to another woman...”]

A tree branch tripped Bai Ruxue, and she quickly got up and continued running down the mountain.

[”Xiao Mo, what does ʼholding your hand, growing old togetherʼ mean?”]

[”Xiao Mo, can we grow old together?”]

[”Xiao Mo... I... will wait for you to return.”]
