The Quest for Immortality

Zhen’s heart was filled with rage.

The other barbarian soldiers of the Shugu Main Department were equally shocked.

They didn’t know what had happened, why the Armor left by their ancestors, symbolizing the supreme glory of the Shugu Tribe, and indestructible, was now worn by the enemy.

And now these barbarian soldiers of the Shugu Tribe had to fight against a formidable foe wearing the heavy armor of their ancestors?

The morale of the Shugu Tribe’s army was shaken.

Dan Zhu seized the opportunity and waved his hand, shouting, ”Kill!”

The great battle began.

Dan Zhu led by example, and the Bone Heavy Armor soldiers of the Danque Tribe followed to charge and kill.

The Bone Heavy Armor of the Shugu Tribe was indeed very powerful. This was apparent in the barbarian soldiers of the Shugu Tribe.

Unbreakable by swords and spears, impervious to water and fire, no strength could penetrate the heavy armor.

Faced with the near ”absolute defense” of the Bone Heavy Armor, even the Shugu Tribe found themselves helpless.

They never thought that one day, the enemy would come at them wearing their own Barbarian Armor.

Moreover, the enemy had almost half more Bone Heavy Armors on them than they did.

There was not much suspense in the battle.

After two hours of fierce fighting, the Shugu Tribe was defeated.

General Zhen led his troops to retreat thirty miles and set up camp, his face livid.

This was not his first defeat, but it was the most ”incomprehensible” loss he had ever suffered.

He lost in the hands of his own ”ancestors.”

This was a manner of defeat he had never imagined in his life.

Zhen’s first reaction was treachery.

The Danque Tribe bribed an insider from the Shugu Main Department and stole a large batch of Bone Heavy Armor from the Shugu Tribe.

But upon further thought, he found it impossible.

The amount of Bone Heavy Armor in Dan Zhu’s possession was no small number.

With such a quantity of ancestral heavy armor, even he couldn’t ”steal” it and didn’t know where to steal it from.

Zhen also conducted a thorough investigation of his subordinates and found no traces of ”traitors.”

Regarding the ancestral heavy armor, a taboo of the tribe, any tribe member who dared leak information had committed an unforgivable sin and would be subjected to the torture of bone grinding, sacrificing to the ancestors.

No one in the Shugu Tribe would have the courage to attempt such torture.

Zhen turned it over and over in his mind, unable to understand or think of any possibility or find any reason.

Why did Dan Zhu have the ancestral heavy armor of his Shugu Tribe?

Zhen’s face was exceedingly grim.

A keen subordinate whispered, ”Sir, could it be...Dan Zhu’s people made it themselves?”

Zhen’s face looked unpleasant, ”Made it themselves? Who made it? The Holy Pattern of Bone has been lost, besides the ancestors of the Shugu Tribe, who else could make such heavy armor?”

”Are you suggesting that it was ’our ancestors’ of the Shugu Tribe who forged armor for Dan Zhu?”

The subordinate, looking fearful, mumbled and did not dare to speak.

Zhen appeared furious, unable to calm down for a long time.

But getting angry wouldn’t solve the problem; the battle had to be fought.

The Shugu Tribe had to face the threat of the ancestral heavy armor they once took pride in.

They also had to endure the humiliation of having the heavy armor of their ancestors worn on the enemy.

This battle, the Shugu Tribe lost again.

Even though General Zhen was a Late-stage Golden Core Cultivator, it didn’t help.

In the Second Grade Mountain Realm war, the Heavenly Dao had restrictions, and the gap between Golden Core and Foundation Establishment Peak wasn’t as vast as imagined.

Once Foundation Establishment Peak barbarian soldiers donned the Bone Heavy Armor built with Second Grade Twenty Patterns Ultimate Formation, inside the Second Grade Mountain Realm, their combat power was close to the Golden Core.

With fifty Foundation Establishment Peak barbarian soldiers from the Danque Tribe wearing fifty sets of Bone Heavy Armor inscribed with the Ultimate Formation, they were almost equivalent to fifty Golden Cores.

In some sense, even stronger than the Golden Cores.

Because Golden Cores couldn’t unleash their full potential.

Golden Cores couldn’t break the heavy armor either.

But those wearing heavy armor could wound Golden Cores, and although not lethal, once injuries accumulate, who knows.

This is a Tao Cultivation war, not a cultivator’s solo fight.

Accumulating small victories to win against stronger opponents, that’s the law of war.

In the next three days, after several battles of varying sizes, the Shugu Tribe kept losing and had retreated fifty miles from the Wutu Mountain Realm.

After these battles, Zhen also noticed that the heavy armor of the Danque Tribe was crafted differently from that of the Shugu Tribe.

The Bone Heavy Armor of the Danque Tribe clearly had a rougher technique, cheaper materials, and the forging marks indeed seemed new, with no trace of time or dust.

This meant these heavy armors were very likely newly forged.

In a rush, many details were made casually.

Zhen was in disbelief.

”Is there really someone in this world who can create the battle armor of my Shugu Tribe’s ancestors?!”

”Who is it?!”

”Dan Zhu? Is it Chi Feng? Or some armor crafting elder from one of these small mountain realms, or a legacy left by some tribe?”

”Or is it...that demon shaman wearing human skin with a lily-white face?”

Zhen’s gaze was fierce and grave. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

To verify this hypothesis, in the subsequent fights, Zhen tried all means to ”capture” a piece of Bone Heavy Armor for research.

But these tactics were merely remnants of Mo Hua’s art.

The Shugu Tribe didn’t have the strange Formation methods like Mo Hua’s.

Therefore, Zhen tried many times but could neither trap nor capture the Danque Tribe’s barbarian soldiers wearing Bone Heavy Armor.

Zhen had to put this matter aside temporarily and focus his mind on the battlefield.

The Shugu Main Department was not without its fight.

Zhen, as the Main General of the Shugu Main Department, was no average figure. He had fought wars for years, was experienced, and knew many tactics to limit heavy armor soldiers.

After a brief consideration, Zhen decided to engage in guerrilla warfare and rapid strikes with the Danque Tribe.
