The Quest for Immortality

Subsequently, he thought to himself, ”Luckily, I am not a disciple of the Water Prison Sect; otherwise, having touched the Water Prison Forbidden Box, wouldn’t my cultivation be abolished, and I’d be thrown into the water prison, never to see the light of day?”

Yu Canghai was unaware of Mo Hua’s little thoughts and continued:

”The second point refers to the ’Forbidden Technique.’

”What Forbidden Technique?”

Yu Canghai hesitated for a moment, then solemnly said, ”It’s a pupil skill.”

Mo Hua thought it indeed was, ”The kind of pupil skill Shui Yan uses?”

Unexpectedly, Yu Canghai was shocked and said, ”Shui Yan knows pupil skills?”

Mo Hua was also surprised and said, ”You don’t know?”

Yu Canghai’s face turned slightly pale, and he shook his head.

”That’s not right,” Mo Hua frowned, ”Didn’t you have a confrontation with Shui Yan? He didn’t use pupil skills on you?”

Yu Canghai’s expression was complex, ”No, I fell into their ambush, trapped by nearly a hundred foundation building cultivators, consumed by them in turns, with Shui Yan secretly attacking.”

”In such a situation, let alone being unable to use the Golden Core power, even if I could use my Golden Core cultivation, I would not be a match for them...”

”Apart from those exceptionally talented cultivators with outstanding killing techniques, generally speaking, a Golden Core early stage cultivator’s cultivation power is approximately ten times that of the foundation establishment late stage.”

”I possess Golden Core middle stage cultivation, which is considerably strong, yet even so, it would be impossible to remain unscathed amidst the assault of nearly a hundred foundation building cultivators.”

”Moreover, there’s the suppression by the Heavenly Dao, as most of these water brigands have practiced evil skills, inherently being desperadoes, slaughtering ruthlessly...”

”Oh.”

Mo Hua nodded in agreement, but then felt somewhat confused.

Why wouldn’t Shui Yan use pupil skills in front of Elder Yu?

Could it be, he was afraid of being recognized?

Mo Hua pondered for a moment, feeling slightly surprised.

This Water Prison Jade Box likely also has an ”improper origin.”

Hence, in front of Elder Yu, a person from the Water Prison Sect, he dared not use pupil skills.

He feared being seen through by Elder Yu, letting others know that this forbidden box is in his possession.

And previously at the pier, when they had an unexpected encounter, Shui Yan noticed Mo Hua could perform the Water Prison Technique, mistaking him for a remnant of the Water Prison Sect, intending to kill him to silence the witness.

Besides other reasons, it was very likely because he felt great pressure confronting Uncle Gu and had to resort to using pupil skills.

Afraid the origin of his pupil skills would be recognized by Mo Hua, this ”Water Prison Sect remnant.”

That being said, could this Water Prison Forbidden Box have been stolen by Shui Yan from somewhere?

From where? Gui Water Sect?

Mo Hua frowned and contemplated.

Yu Canghai then asked solemnly, ”What is Shui Yan’s pupil skill like?”

Mo Hua recalled for a moment and said, ”The evil qi is heavy, the eyes are red, as if soaked in blood water, within which are many strange figures, resembling humans yet appearing like demons, seemingly trapped in purgatory, constantly struggling, suffering, howling...”

Yu Canghai furrowed his brows even more.

Mo Hua asked, ”Is this your Water Prison Sect’s pupil skill?”

Unexpectedly, Elder Yu pondered for a moment but shook his head, saying, ”Not exactly...”

Mo Hua was stunned, ”Not exactly?”

Yu Canghai nodded and said, ”This pupil skill of Shui Yan is bloody and sinister, heavy with malevolent qi, evidently a Demon Path spell point.”

”My Water Prison Sect is a Righteous Sect. Even if our actions are harsh and ruthless, we would certainly not treat such a bloody pupil skill as a sect-protecting faction technique. Even if we wished to do so, the Taoist Court wouldn’t allow it.”

Mo Hua pondered and couldn’t help but nod, ”Indeed.”

Then he questioned, ”So, what exactly is Shui Yan’s pupil skill about?”

”I haven’t seen it firsthand, so I cannot say for sure, but generally speaking...” Yu Canghai frowned and said, ”This Shui Yan is very likely trying to rush success, disguising my Water Prison Sect’s pupil skill, while secretly using a slaughter refining skill from the Demon Gate...”

Slaughter Refining Skill...

True Manual of Demonic Path Cultivation!

These six words abruptly surfaced in Mo Hua’s mind.

This true manual was treasured by the Fire Buddha and later stolen by Mo Hua along with the Meteor Fire Skill.

Both Fire Buddha and Shui Yan should be ”Venerables” among the followers of the Evil God Cult.

That means, both might have learned this ”True Manual of Demonic Path Cultivation.”

Transforming evil means turning killings into evil qi.

The evil qi cultivated by Fire Buddha through killings is condensed into Meteor Fire Techniques.

While the evil qi refined from killings by Shui Yan is condensed into pupil skills.

Mo Hua’s gaze became somber.

Yu Canghai continued to say, ”I don’t know what slaughter refining skill this wretched beast Shui Yan has practiced, but he must be exploiting the situation, grafting this Demon Path spell point onto the pupil skills of my Water Prison Sect, using pupil skills to refine evil qi, to capture people’s souls.”

”Then what is the Water Prison Sect’s pupil skill like?” Mo Hua asked, ”If it doesn’t refine evil qi, what does it cultivate?”

Yu Canghai hesitated for a moment, then helplessly replied, ”My Water Prison Sect also cultivates evil qi...”

Mo Hua: ”...”

He thought for a moment and summarized a bit, ”Shui Yan cultivates evil qi using pupil skills, and your Water Prison Sect also cultivates evil qi using pupil skills?”

Yu Canghai: ”Yes...”

Mo Hua softly ”interrogated” and said:

”Didn’t you say your Water Prison Sect is a righteous sect? Your pupil skill doesn’t seem to differ much from Shui Yan’s, doesn’t it also rely on killings to refine evil?”

Yu Canghai shook his head and said bitterly: .

”This is precisely the reason I was reluctant to explain the specifics to you before...”

”Slaughter refining is something that straddles between righteousness and evil; a slight negligence could lead one astray into a wrongful path.”

”Thus, this inherited jade box is called the ’Forbidden Box.’

”This pupil skill is categorized as a ’Forbidden Technique.’

”Historically, only the sect leader of the Water Prison Sect is allowed to cultivate this Taoist skill.”

Mo Hua became interested, ”Is there some significance in this?”

Yu Canghai said solemnly: ”The so-called ’evil qi’ is also a form of ’qi’ within the world; however, this qi, fusing with cause and effect, divine soul, death, and other aspects, inflicts an unascertained lethal effect on cultivators, thereby not listed as a righteous Dao.”
