The Quest for Immortality

After some time, Mo Hua learned through his ”spy” in the Gu Family, Aunt Wan, that Uncle Gu should have already gone on a blind date, so he picked a time to secretly send a letter to ask Gu Changhuai:

”Uncle Gu, how was the blind date?”

This question was probably quite annoying.

Gu Changhuai didn’t want to answer, so he didn’t reply for a long time.

However, since this matter was related to the cause of Ye Jin’s death, after about two hours, Gu Changhuai finally replied, enduring his discomfort:

”It failed.”

”What kind of failure?” Mo Hua was puzzled, ”Did the blind date fail, or did the ’interrogation’ fail?”

A failed blind date is quite normal.

Interrogation failure, failing to get any clues, is the real issue.

Gu Changhuai: ”Both failed.”

Mo Hua sighed: ”Uncle Gu, you’re an old Supervisor, how can you not handle such a small matter, not get any information at all...”

This old and pedantic tone was reminiscent of the Old Chief questioning him.

Gu Changhuai on the other end of the Letter Token looked distressed.

Mo Hua, that kid, was really good at being annoying.

Mo Hua curiously asked again:

”What did you talk about during the blind date? Did you discuss family background? What about Spirit Stone compensation? Tao Cultivation plans? What did you think of Instructor Hua?”

Gu Changhuai, unable to bear it any longer, directly closed the Letter Token, out of sight, out of mind, and ignored Mo Hua.

Mo Hua felt helpless.

Uncle Gu’s tolerance really needed improvement.

Couldn’t handle a few words, not generous at all.

Since Uncle Gu wouldn’t say, Mo Hua would have to find another way to inquire.

Two days later, during the break.

Mo Hua personally went to the Gu Family, asked around, and found Elder Gu Hong drinking tea in the living room.

Elder Gu Hong’s eyes lit up when he saw Mo Hua, and he immediately called out:

”Mo Hua, come over, I have some pastries here.”

Mo Hua muttered to himself:

I’m not a kid anymore...

But he still sat down next to Elder Gu Hong, drinking tea and eating the pastries Elder Gu Hong offered him.

The tea was sweet and slightly bitter, the pastries were refreshing and slightly sweet, the two flavors balanced each other, creating a unique taste.

As he ate, Mo Hua quietly asked:

”Elder Gu Hong, how did Uncle Gu’s blind date go?”

As soon as this was mentioned, Elder Gu Hong’s face fell, seemingly quite angry, and he complained to Mo Hua:

”You see, Changhuai, that person is just a stubborn mule, acting like a fool, just wasting a good appearance.”

”At first meeting, the young lady couldn’t help staring at his handsome face for a long time, blushing, but he was just like a block of wood, not saying a word.”

”And that’s not the most irritating part. The most infuriating is that as soon as he sat down, before even drinking the tea, he started asking her questions like he was at the Taoist Court, interrogating her like a criminal...”

”He asked where she was from, where she lived, and where she usually went?”

Elder Gu Hong held her forehead, in extreme annoyance, and said to Mo Hua:

”How can a date proceed like this?” .

”I could only smile and apologize, saying he was so busy with Taoist Court business that it became a habit, and that he’d change after getting married.”

”Even so, I barely managed to smooth things over, but you could tell, the young lady looked obviously upset...”

”Sigh...”

Elder Gu Hong let out a long sigh, her teeth itching with anger.

”If he weren’t my nephew, I wouldn’t bother to look at him even if I had to drink the northwest wind at the front door.”

Mo Hua nodded.

Indeed, the handsome and cold Supervisor at the Taoist Court ends up getting scolded by elders at home anyway.

”So... Elder Hong,” Mo Hua quietly asked again, ”What do you think of that ’Instructor Hua’?”

Elder Gu Hong was startled, ”What do I think?”

”Yes.” Mo Hua nodded, ”I’m a bit curious, so I asked.”

Curious?

Elder Gu Hong pondered for a moment, furrowing her brows, ”Honestly, I felt something was off...”

”Off in what way?”

”Too bold with her makeup, unnatural expressions, when she looked at Changhuai, there was a certain lascivious gleam that looked somewhat...”

Elder Gu Hong lowered her voice, whispering to Mo Hua, ”Somewhat flirtatious.”

Mo Hua seemed pensive.

Elder Gu Hong deliberated for a moment, then curiously said, ”Her behavior is a bit unlike a Sect Instructor, more like...”

Mid-sentence, she suddenly realized she was in front of Mo Hua, not her group of ”old sisters”, so she hesitantly shut her mouth.

”Like what?” Mo Hua asked curiously.

”Nothing,” Elder Gu Hong said, ”it’s better not said.”

Mo Hua grumbled inwardly.

Why does everyone like to stop mid-sentence in front of him?

Elder Gu Hong saw Mo Hua still wanted to ask, and promptly pushed the pastries in front of him, ”Eat the pastries, you’re at an age to grow, eat more...”

Speaking of this, Mo Hua was a bit worried.

”Elder Gu Hong, I won’t end up short, right?”

Elder Gu Hong solemnly said:

”What nonsense, you’re just innately weak and lack Blood Qi, so you’re growing a bit slowly; there’s no helping that. Once your Cultivation advances, you’ll transform and surely become a tall and handsome young man, even more so than Changhuai... no, even more handsome than Changhuai.”

”Your temperament is gentle, refined like jade, unlike Changhuai, who is as stubborn as stone, completely impossible to deal with.”

Elder Gu Hong still felt quite angry when mentioning this.

”You tell me, with that appearance of his, if he had any sense, how many girls would be flocking around him, why do I need to fuss so much?”

”He can’t be helped!”

Mo Hua asked, ”So, what about Uncle Gu’s future blind dates?”
