I Became a Witch in a World Full of Urban Legends

“Is he in?”

Hearing Li Xuan’s voice outside, Lu Yibei’s heart rose to her throat, and she hurriedly turned to Professor Ma and shook her head violently.

Back at Flowers and Sunshine Resort, even though Li Xuan didn’t see her female form, Jiangli and An Qing did, so she was sure that a file of her appearance was made.

If Li Xuan were to enter the room, a battle would occur; victory or loss means nothing if it means exposing her to the Night Division.

Professor Ma furrowed his eyebrows.

Although she was expressionless, a sincere look of fear was painted on her face as she grasped onto his coat like her lifeline. But why is she scared?

“Professor…” Yibei murmured, but the door to the lab was knocked on again.

“Professor Ma, this is urgent! I need to speak with Lu Yibei!”

He didn’t know if he should hide her or expose her.

According to Professor Ma’s observations, this girl before him must be some sort of urban legend, and this urban legend is none other than Yibei herself, and as her teacher, he has the responsibility to help her.The coin…

He took it and tossed it into the air again.

Heads to help her, tails to expose her.

Ding!

He was secretly relieved to see that it landed on heads; only then did he realise that he wasn’t relying on chance but to confirm his feelings when the coin landed on his desired choice.

And in his heart, he wanted to help her from the very start—a girl about the same age as his grandson, dripping wet, naked, pleading with big watery eyes…

What’s more, this girl might be Lu Yibei! She had helped her so much, so doing her a little favour should be no problem.

Plus…

If that man outside were to see a naked girl inside his lab, he would never have a job again.

Clearing his throat, he walked straight towards the door.

“Who is it? I don’t accept students from ten o’clock to four-thirty in the afternoon! It’s written outside my office!”

“Ah, Professor Ma, I am…”

Li Xuan wanted to say something but was interrupted sharply by Professor Ma.

“If you have any questions, ask them in class tomorrow!”

“Professor Ma, I’m not your student. I’m here to find Lu Yibei.”

“If you’re not my student, then why are you here? I have no business with you; he left long ago!”

“No, Professor Ma, I…”

“If you don’t leave, I’ll call security and pass on a message to that damn Lu Yibei that I’ll deduct his marks if he can’t control his friends!”

Lu Yibei peeked her head out of the storage room, seeing Professor Ma in a new light.

The strict, hot-headed, enthusiastic Professor seemed graceful and understanding suddenly, but…

‘Are my grades deducted for real?’

Outside the lab.

Li Xuan’s chest felt congested.

He couldn’t tell if Professor Ma had always been this grumpy or if he was hiding something.

If he were to break in and Lu Yibei wasn’t inside, the Professor would inevitably cause a scene.

“Well, if you say so.”

“Leave! Don’t disturb my research!”

No matter. His informants will keep a close eye on this enigmatic Lu Yibei, and he went around campus to ask about Professor Ma’s reputation.

Surprisingly, everyone he asked lamented how strict Professor Ma was, and no matter what you do, he will find a way to fault you and deduct your grades.

All of a sudden, he couldn’t help but pity Lu Yibei.

Professor Ma stuck his ear to the door and waited until he couldn’t hear Li Xuan’s footsteps. He heaved a huge sigh of relief.

He couldn’t believe he was hiding something from the police, and he returned to the girl hiding inside the storage room.

Seeing Professor Ma return, she got up immediately to thank him, but he immediately jumped backwards and pointed a finger at her.

“Sit over there! Don’t get any closer!”

He still wasn’t sure if that was really Lu Yibei or an urban legend.

“Professor, don’t be afraid! I won’t hurt.”

Before Lu Yibei could finish, a drop of water dripped on her skin, and green smoke was emitted from her skin. Both of them stared at each other in silence.

Lu Yibei sat down on the chair silently, and Professor Ma breathed a sigh of relief, “Ahem… explain yourself—who are you, and why are you here? If your explanation is not reasonable, I’ll call that policeman back.”

“Professor, I…” she bit her lip. “I’m actually… Lu Yibei.”

It was useless to hide it.

Plus, he helped hide her. He probably already knows.

“Then why are you…” Professor Ma asked, pointing at her.

“I… have night sickness. I’ve been hiding it from people.”

“Night sickness?”

Although it is true that people who are plagued by night sickness suffer from strange symptoms, This seems stranger than that.

“I’ve had this for almost two years,” she breathed out. “Every time I come into contact with the occult, I will transform into a girl. Because of this, that policeman has always suspected that I’m an urban legend, so…”

Professor Ma frowned upon hearing her explanation. As a professor, he was responsible for learning about his students.

Judging from the information he had learned, Lu Yibei had indeed been out of school for more than a year due to illness, and what she said now was also true, and it didn’t seem like she was lying.

“You should know that students afflicted with night sickness aren’t allowed in academic institutions, and since I’m hiding you…”

“I was worried you would say this. I don’t want you to laugh at me.”

“What is it?”

“I love studying!” Lu Yibei raised her head and looked at Professor Ma with blazing eyes. “Please don’t tell anyone my secret! Please!”

Professor Ma sighed as he looked into her fiery yet pleading eyes.
