Chapter 381: Selena: You What?

”Where are you going?”

The voice came cold and clear, cutting through the rush of wind around Selena’s ears.

And.. Before she could adjust her course, Sofia appeared directly in front of her faster than the golden streak that carried Selena forward. There was no warning, no ripple of mana, no surge of aura. Just presence. Immediate and absolute.

And then the strike came.

Sofia’s leg swung in a sharp, devastating arc, aimed cleanly at Selena’s face.

Selena’s expression darkened instantly.

Not again.

Her arm rose in reflex, golden light flashing across her skin as enchanting magic reinforced her arm. She caught Sofia’s leg with her forearm, bracing against the impact.

But the force behind it was monstrous.

The collision cracked through the air like thunder. Pain vibrated up Selena’s arm as the momentum drove her backward despite the block. Her feet left the ground, her body thrown several meters before she twisted midair and regained balance.

She landed hard, sliding across broken stone, boots carving shallow lines into the street before she came to a stop.

For a split second, surprise flickered across her face.

The first strike could have been dismissed as a surprise attack. But this?

She had braced, Reinforced, Calculated and even actually was on guard as somewhat expecting attack..

And she had still been pushed back?

And that surprised her.. Because she sensed that There had been no mana coating the leg. No aura enhancement. No visible reinforcement or anything.

It was just pure physical strength. And that was what unsettled her. Because Obiously she have holy body.. And her holy body was not any ordinary strength. It was a divine constitution that granted physical power far beyond any genius there be. Very few could rival her in raw might.. like Areon born with dragon bloodline or those born with rare bloodlines or monstrous physical gifts.

And this woman was one of them? And above all that she also doesn’t look much older then herself.

And that was what unsettled her even more.

Not many in her age group could even withstand her holy constitution’s baseline force, much less overpower it so cleanly. That meant one thing.

She was a Genius.

A peer comparable to herself?

Which made the encounter even more absurd.

Because she couldn’t recognise her.

Selena is very aware of herself even though she always very humble about it.. But she is very consciously aware that she is the peak of talent in this generation. Anyone who could stand at this level beside her could not be unknown. And yet she had never seen this woman before.

Who is she? Why doesn’t she know her? And why would someone like this attacking her?

All of that passed through her mind in less than a heartbeat.

But same time.. Anger rose higher than confusion.

Because above all, this woman had stopped her again.

Selena straightened slowly, golden light dimming but not vanishing. Her gaze locked onto Sofia, hostility burning openly now.

Sofia landed lightly a few steps ahead too.. Her boots touching down without sound, as though the explosive exchange had been a casual interruption rather than a serious clash. Her posture remained relaxed. Almost dismissive.

She looked at Selena with clear condescension.

”I said stop,” Sofia repeated evenly. ”Don’t run.”

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

”Also.. Did you said just said you’re going to meet someone? Who?”

The question came casually, but something darker flickered beneath it.

Selena inhaled slowly, forcing down her temper.

”Whoever it is,” she said, voice low and steady, ”if you stop me again, the result will not be pleasant.”

Her patience was thinning.

”This will be your last warning. Step aside.”

She did not even look fully at Sofia when she said it. Her gaze kept drifting past her, toward the direction where she was sensing him.

Razeal.

He was close. So close that it made her chest thump hard. Every second wasted here felt unbearable. There was a sharp fear rising in her irrational but persistent that if she delayed too long, he would vanish again.

And that she could not allow.

So she didn’t have time for this.

She shifted her weight slightly, preparing to move again.

But before she could move..

Sofia’s voice cut in before she could.

”Is it Razeal?”

”Because if it is...,” Sofia continued, her tone dropping into something far colder, ”Not to mention meeting him...?I won’t even let you get... one step close to him.”

Killing intent flooded the space between them thick, unmistakable.

Sofia herself did not fully understand why her reaction had escalated so sharply.

Since It had only a guess and could be wrong but the direction Selena was heading towards seems to be in where Razeal is? She’s not sure but looks like that.. And if that didn’t made Bell’s ring inside her head all around.

And what made it more weirder was the urgency in this women’s movements? The way she seemed unwilling to waste even a second to reach there? It was confusing to sofia.. Maybe to somewhere else? Not Razeal?

But the moment of thought still formed inside Sofia’s head. Just what if shes going to Razeal? It cant be that coincidental right? And the moment they did, something inside Sofia hardened

Defensive? Sharp? Unyielding?Almost territorial...

First, there had been a woman who destroyed her husband’s life. That alone was enough. And now this women’s seems to be wanting to approach him?

Impossible.

And beyond that also arose a thought.. something more confusing like if she’s going to him.. Lets say her guess is right why did she want to see him so badly?

Sofia wasn’t even certain. She was only guessing.

Yet when she looked at the blonde woman’s face she saw

Desperation? Longing? An expression so intense it looked as if she were running toward her entire world. As if going wheverer she was going meant everything for her. Like a girl hopelessly in love, unable to hide it no matter how hard she tried.

That look somehow unsettled Sofia.. Can maybe call it a girl’s sixts sense.. But it was very much ringing right now.

It stirred something unfamiliar inside her.

Protectiveness? Possessiveness? A quiet, instinctive urge to shield?

She doesn’t know but she definitely didn’t like the feeling.. she just couldn’t ignore it?

Whatever the reason, she would not allow this woman to leave this place. Not that it was ever the plan.

But the moment the name and those words left Sofia’s mouth, something in Selena stopped.

Not physically.

Something deeper.

Her body, which had been coiled in urgency, froze mid-motion. The desperation that had been driving her blinding, singular flickered out as though extinguished by an unseen hand.

”I won’t even let you take one step close to him...?”

The words echoed inside her skull.

For a breath, she did not move.

Him who? Did she said just said Razeal?

Then her head turned slowly toward Sofia.

”What... Did you just say?”

Her voice was no longer hurried. No longer strained. It had flattened into something colder something that did not belong to the girl who had been running through the city with tears in her eyes.

Her gaze met Sofia’s.

And it changed.

The desperation vanished completely.

In its place settled something sharp. Possessive, dangerous and somewhat of even.. Paranoia?

This fast reaction? So it really is about Razeal..? Sofia saw it immediately as she raised her eyebrows as just how fast this women just reacted on Razeals name.

And even more weirder then that.. was that look on her face.

The subtle tightening of the jaw. The way the pupils narrowed not in fear but in claim. The way the world around the other person seemed to fade until only one thing mattered.

Sofia’s instincts sharpened.

Sofia, as a woman herself who was very familiar with such expressions, immediately sensed that something was very, very wrong with this woman especially regarding her husband. It was written clearly across Selena’s face. Making every alarm bell in Sofia’s mind began ringing.

She narrowed her eyes dangerously at Selena.

She was indeed going to look for Razeal. But why? And what was that look? Did she not know something she should?

Dangerous thoughts began forming in Sofia’s mind as she tried to piece everything together. Because this was definitely not the expression of a woman who hated Razeal. From her face alone, Selena looked desperate to find him so desperate that she had ignored the fight and the attacks aimed at her, moving in a single, unwavering direction as if meeting him was the only thing that mattered.

As for Could she be heading somewhere else? And she’s just missundetanding?

No. That was impossible.

Selena had been desperate to reach him so desperate she had been willing to ignore a fight, ignore physical blows. She had been running in a straight line toward him like someone chasing oxygen.

And more importantly.. Sofia had seen the exact moment Selena’s expression changed precisely when she uttered Razeal’s name. And that look... it left no doubt. She was going to him.

But then the question arose again: why would a woman who supposedly hated him who had accused him of rape, who had ruined his life wear that expression for the very man she had destroyed? Was it hatred? Hostility? No... that did not match what Sofia was seeing at all?

Because

Now Selena looked like someone who had just been told she was forbidden from touching something that was hers.

Sofia’s eyes narrowed.

She replayed the moment in her mind.

The shift had happened the instant she said his name.

A faint chill slid down her spine.

Why?

If this woman hated him enough to accuse him enough to ruin his life why did she look like this?

Why did her face, moments ago twisted with urgency and longing, now harden into something territorial?

That didn’t align.

Unless

Sofia’s thoughts sharpened.

Unless she didn’t hate him at all? Which doesn’t make sense again but..

The suspicion crystallized the moment Selena spoke again.

”Who are you?”

Selena’s voice was quiet.

Not uncertain, not confused but rather.. Demanding.

She turned fully toward Sofia now and took a step forward.

At the same time.. Suddenly the air around her changed.

Golden light suddenly ignited all around her

It did not flare outward violently at first it condensed, coiling around her body like liquid sunlight. Then it expanded.

With a low, resonant boom, holy energy erupted from her in a controlled explosion, engulfing her form from head to toe. Her hair lifted as though caught in a rising current, strands shimmering like threads of gold under a blazing sun.

The aura thickened.

What had begun as a glow became a blaze.

It was not mana.

It was something farr more purer.

At first, it only cloaked her body.

But within a fraction of a second, it transformed into blazing golden fire, with Selena standing at its center.

Golden energy surged upward, spiraling around her body like sacred fire. It climbed higher past the height of nearby shop roofs, past the broken façade of the building she had crashed through stretching into the sky in a column of light that pulsed with oppressive weight.

The ground beneath her feet cracked.

The air grew heavy.

Each step she took toward Sofia increased the pressure, like gravity itself was bowing inward.

”And say that again,” Selena said softly, her voice carrying through the street without any effort. ”What did you just say?”

Her eyes burning..

”I dare you,” she continued, her gaze locked on Sofia’s. ”Say it again.”

The holy aura intensified with every step.

Golden flames licked outward in widening arcs. The sheer density of the energy pressed against nearby walls, rattling shutters and scattering loose debris across the cobblestones. Civilians further down the street staggered back, breath catching in their throats as the pressure reached them.

The sheer volume of energy was overwhelming golden radiance fluttering and roaring far above the buildings.

This was no longer the desperation of a girl or a saintess who was running trying to look weak.

This was a saintess standing in wrath.

Now that all attention was fixed on her, Sofia was completely certain: this woman truly was going to Razeal.

And that realization made the corners of Sofia’s lips curl upward in a dangerous smile.

Her aqua-blue eyes studied Selena skeptically, a flicker of confusion appearing within them. She had clearly seen the defensive shift in Selena the moment Razeal’s name was spoken and that unsettled her.

But instead of easing her hostility, it only intensified her killing intent.

As.. Sofia’s smile did not fade.

”Ohh you did not hear it?” It just sharpened

”I just said,” she repeated lightly, almost conversationally, ”I’ll cut both of your legs off and place them in your own arms if you try to take a single step toward Razeal.”

She tilted her head slightly as she spoke, her tone deliberately teasing mockingly patient, as if she were simplifying a lesson for someone slow to understand. The words were clearer now.

”In case you didn’t understand the first time,” she added, the corner of her lips lifting, ”I thought I’d make it simpler for you y.”

There was no hesitation in her eyes. No bluff.

The street reacted before Selena did.

The air grew dense. Heavy.

Then

”Oh?”

Selena’s voice was quiet.

Dangerously quiet.

She had paused mid-step when Sofia finished speaking. For a heartbeat, everything seemed suspended. Then something shifted.

The golden aura around her thickened not outward in a flare, but inward first, compressing around her body until the space itself seemed to distort. The holy energy intensified beyond what it had been moments ago. It was no longer just flame.

It was pressure.

Mana surged from her in quantities that made the surrounding debris tremble. Pebbles lifted slightly from the ground. Splintered wood vibrated and cracked further under the invisible weight.

The cobblestones beneath her feet fractured.

A low hum filled the air.

The golden column around her grew taller, wider holy energy licking skyward like a pillar of divine wrath. The air itself seemed to tremble in response.

”Will you?” Selena asked softly..

Obiously only thing going in her head right now that some random women dared to stop her from going to Razeal?

Her eyes no longer held desperation.

They held judgment.

The holy light reflected in them, turning them molten.

Sofia stood unmoved.

She did not step back. She did not even flinch actually in front of this pressure where even many older generation powerhouses wanna walk away from. Her own presence tightened subtly, the pressure around her condensing rather than expanding. Her aqua eyes watched the escalation with measured calm, as though observing a phenomenon rather than being threatened by it.

But she shifted her weight slightly.

Prepared.

The moment before collision stretched thin.

Both of them just a meter of distance away from actually sending two great empires at war.

But just then

”STOP!”

Maria’s voice tore through the tension.

The word echoed down the ruined street.

In the next instant, she appeared between them.

Water condensed around her feet as she landed hard on the cracked cobblestones, hands raised in opposite directions one palm toward Selena, the other toward Sofia. Her stance widened, bracing against the crushing pressure from both sides.

She could feel it holy wrath pressing from one side, cold lethal chilly intent from the other.

If they clashed? Everything be fucked.

”I have to stop this,” Maria thought fast.

Selena’s golden aura flickered but did not vanish or even diminished at all. Sofia’s gaze darkened.

”What the hell are you doing, Maria?” Sofia snapped, irritation flashing across her features. ”Step aside before you turn into a blobfish.”

Her tone carried more than annoyance. It carried impatience.

But . Maria did not move.

And.. before Sofia could push further

”Enough.”

The voice came from above.

Sharp, Young and extremely very rudely Commanding.

It cut cleanly through the charged air like a blade through silk.

”Stop this whoever you are,” the voice continued, steady and edged with unmistakable pride, ”you will not fight in the center of the imperial capital.”

”Do you even realize where you’re fighting? This is the very center of the Imperial Capital.”

The authority in it did not need volume.

All three of them looked up.

Suspended above the shattered street was a girl.. young, no more than sixteen or seventeen. Platinum-colored aura surrounded her like a halo of sovereign light. She floated effortlessly in the air, Her imperial robes shifting slightly in the breeze, gaze cast downward with unmistakable majesty.

The aura around her was not wild.

It was refined, Controlled and rudely Imperial.

Maria felt her stomach drop.

No...

Of all timings.

Her eyes flicked toward Sofia immediately.

This is bad.

And even more unfortunately Sofia was already looking up.

And there was recognition in her gaze.

Sofia raised a finger lazily, pointing upward.

”Ah,” she said, the smirk returning in full force. ”You’re that princess.”

Her eyes gleamed.

”Good. Good. Very good. Meeting both of you at the same place, at the same time... Saves me the trouble of hunting you down separately.”

The killing intent around her sharpened, turning razor-edged.

”Now.. I’ll cut both of your heads off,” she declared loudly, voice ringing through the street, ”Put them on a plate, and gift them to Razeal as a wedding present haaha.”

Her smile widened into something almost unhinged.

And...Maria felt her pulse spike.

This is bad.

Above them, the floating girl’s expression hardened instantly. The faint crease in her brow deepened as her platinum aura intensified slightly.

”Umm,” she asked slowly, ”Excuse me?”

She faltered for a second.. As if very much taken back by just the audacity of the statement itself.

Her voice lost none of its composure but the temperature in it suddenly dropped sharply..

While.. Below, Selena’s reaction was entirely different.

”Wedding present...?” she murmured under her breath, confusion slicing through the wrath that had been building. Her golden aura flickered as she turned her head slightly toward Sofia.

”To Razeal?”

The words felt foreign in her mouth? As she Confusedly blinked her eyes?

What doese she mean?

While on side.. Maria swallowed hard.

No... No, no, no.

This is worse than before.

Now it was no longer a confrontation between two powerful women.

It was a collision between three.

A saintess.

A princess from Atlantis.

And the imperial princess herself.

All in the middle of a city already strained by war.
