Chapter 352: Godly Illusion

”Levy,” he said loudly. ”Do it.”

Razeal shouted fast, his voice sharp and urgent, cutting through the suffocating stillness. He didn’t give himself time to hesitate, didn’t allow doubt to slow him down. The moment his mouth was free, he used it. He was obviously hoping Levy would act before the woman in front of him even had the chance to react, before she could raise her guard or reinforce whatever invisible restraints she had wrapped around them. Honestly, Razeal didn’t even know if it would even work or not. He actually wasn’t sure if this would succeed at all. But hope.. thin, desperate, reckless hope.. was all he had left, and he grabbed onto it without thinking. Not that he had any better trick right not.

So

He shouted.

And then... his voice died down.

Nothing happened.

”Levy?” Merisa murmured calmly.

Her tone carried no panic, no urgency only mild curiosity ashe tilted her head slightly, her eyes moving back to Razeal’s face, as if trying to read what exactly he had just attempted. She waited. One second passed. Then another. Even after several more seconds, nothing changed. No attack. No disruption. No sudden movement.

Razeal lips twitched.

Seeing Merisa still standing there completely fine.. Razeal forcefully turned his head toward Levy. The movement strained against the invisible restraint, but he managed it. Levy was just blinking, staring back at him with wide eyes, looking utterly confused.. as if he genuinely had no idea what Razeal was shouting for.

”Motherfucker, what are you looking at?” Razeal cursed loudly, his voice raw now. ”Do it!”

The words ripped out of him, sharp and furious. Genuinely its very rarely for Razeal to curse. Almost never. But today they came drom very deep within him as if boiling up from places he doesn’t even know.

”Do what?” Levy yelled back.

He finally realized Razeal was looking at him as definetly asking him for some help, but his confusion only deepened. He tried to move, instinctively, then realized he couldn’t. His body was locked in place just like everyone else’s. He shifted his eyes between Razeal and Merisa, then back again, trying to understand. Razeal was pointing at him with his eyes, then flicking his gaze toward Merisa again, desperately trying to communicate something using only his face.

But what the hell was he supposed to do?

Levy’s thoughts spiraled. Everyone here was restrained from the neck down. Even Razeal himself couldn’t move.. Means even he cant do anything.. And now Razeal was asking him to do something?

Was he asking him to help deal with the Virelan matriarch?

That thought almost made Levy want to curse out loud.. if he wasn’t terrified.

Like hell he could do anything. Even if he wasn’t restrained, there wasn’t a single damn thing he could do against her. This woman could erase him without blinking. Against someone like her, he was nothing. Less than nothing.

”Dooo what you doo, you dumb bastard! Try that GODdamm move of yourrs” Razeal yelled again.

The words were almost feral now. Frustration, fear, rage.. everything tangled together and exploded out of him. He wasn’t thinking about dignity or restraint anymore. He was running out of time, and Levy was standing there like an idiot.

”Ahh... that...”

Levy suddenly froze.

Something clicked.

His green eyes widened just a fraction as realization finally struck him. His gaze sharpened, shifting from Razeal to Merisa. The confusion drained away, replaced by a slow, dawning understanding of what Razeal had actually been asking him to do.

Merisa noticed it too

She followed Razeal’s gaze, then Levy’s. Her eyes settled on the green-eyed man who wasn’t threatening in the slightest. From her perspective, he looked.. weak. Nothing about him suggested danger, much less something capable of affecting her.

And that was exactly what confused her.

Razeal cant be stupid. He wouldn’t call for help unless he believed that person could do something? Right?. And yet, looking at Levy now, Merisa couldn’t see anything special. No overflowing energy. No suppressed aura. Nothing.

Curiosity stirred.

So

She waited.. Genuinely wanting to see what could he do..

And thats when

Levy’s eyes lifted fully to meet hers.

And then

Thump. Thump.

A sound echoed.

A heartbeat.

Not hers.

The moment the sound registered, reality itself seemed to slip.

And next moment.

Merisa suddenly found herself standing somewhere else.

The sea, the ship, the restrained bodies, the pressure of her telekinesis everything vanished in an instant. The space around her folded without warning, without resistance, without any visible transition. One moment she was floating in the water, restraining everyone effortlessly.

The next

She was standing still.

On solid ground.

In her room.

Inside the Virelan manor.

”Huh?”

Merisa didn’t gasp, flinch or even get tense.

Anyone else would have panicked. Anyone else would have exploded with power on instinct. But she didn’t. She was a powerhouse afterall someone who had seen the worst chaos the world could offer. Sudden displacement, no matter how abnormal, wasn’t enough to shake her composure.

So she calmly assessed her surroundings.

The familiar layout. The walls. The furnishings. Every detail was perfect. Too perfect. It looked exactly like reality. No distortions. No flickering.. But still an Obious mark was there

”A illusion?” she murmured, her voice calm, almost thoughtful, as her senses stretched outward. The moment she acknowledged it, she felt it clearly.. As if the space itself was screaming that this place was false. And yet... it was terrifyingly convincing. If the space itself hadn’t betrayed it, even she might not have been able to see through it at first glance. Everything looked real. Too real. The walls, the air, the faint pressure of the room around her it all mirrored reality perfectly.. Even actually all her five senses all fine.

She slowly turned her head, her deep purple eyes scanning every corner of the room. The illusion was absurdly detailed. No distortion. No instability. No rushed construction. The texture of the walls, the ambient silence, even the subtle spatial depth were flawless. If not for that one unmistakable sensation..that thin, screaming mismatch between space and truth this illusion could have fooled almost anyone.

Even her.

And that alone impressed her.

Except... that one obvious flaw. It could really be a godly illusion.. Even above 9th illusion skill.

Only flaw.. that she actually could sense it was an illusion.

Not because it was weak.. but because it allowed itself to be sensed. Like a beginner illusionist who hadn’t yet learned how to fully erase the trail of falseness. She could feel it clearly. She knew, with certainty, that she could leave this place with a single thought if she wanted to. That weakness stood out sharply to her.

But aside from that?

This illusion was extraordinary.

So good that she didn’t think she herself could replicate it so cleanly. Not in structure. Not in realism. Not in emotional weight either.. As seeing the room she felt familiarity.

”Really very, very high-level illusion...” she thought quietly.

And coming from her, that was no small evaluation.

After all, she was the one who held the title of the strongest illusionist in the entire world. Her mind had crushed divine wills. Her illusions had even broken some low level gods. For something to even interest her in this field was rare.

She was impressed.

And now she understood.

Now she finally understood why Razeal had called out to that green-eyed man.

Her gaze sharpened slightly as realization settled in. She hadn’t noticed it or considered it before. She had just dismissed him instantly as irrelevant. And yet.. this illusion? It must be his.. If she’s not guessing it wrong.

But then again a question surfaced.

With such a small mana pool... how did he do this?

No. This didn’t align.

He shouldn’t be capable of producing something like this. Not alone or naturally atleast.

So then... was it an artifact? Some external medium? Or a skill that bypassed conventional mana usage entirely? Something she couldn’t detect at first glance?

Her mind raced through possibilities at terrifying speed, each hypothesis forming and collapsing within fractions of a second. This alone proved why she was considered the strongest mental user alive. While most people would still be frozen in shock, she was already dissecting the mechanism behind the illusion.

”Well.. Thats Interesting...” she murmured.

Still, there was no reason to linger.

She raised her hand calmly, purple psychic energy wrapping around her fingers like a living thing. With a single motion, she intended to tear the illusion apart.. rip through its structure, collapse the false space, and return.

But then

She couldn’t.

Her hand froze mid-motion.

She tried again, reinforcing her psychic output, pushing harder, commanding space itself to obey her will.

But still

Nothing happened.

The illusion didn’t even tremble.

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she withdrew her hand, the purple psychic energy still swirling tightly around her fingers.

”Now this is more interesting,” she murmured.

Something was restricting her.

Not overpowering her but limiting her methods.

Her strongest means, the very techniques that could normally erase illusionary domains instantly, were being blocked. And she couldn’t immediately identify how.

That bothered her.

Above everything standing as if a god looking down from above space to down ground.. Levy stood with his eyes closed looking from his gods prospective.. Sweat ran down his temple, his breathing controlled but strained. To anyone watching, he looked like a man standing on the edge of collapse.. Genuinely just thrilled and scared who he got in his illusion.

”Fhewww...” he thought, relief and fear crashing together inside him. ”I was really worried she’d rip it apart instantly...”

That five-second restriction.

That single rule.. that once the illusion began, no one could escape it for five seconds no matter what.. was the only reason this was possible. Without it, someone of her level would have torn through it before it even stabilized.

Levy swallowed hard.

Those five seconds were almost about to be over.

He couldn’t waste them.

”I should really start it... now,” he thought desperately.

His heart illusion activated fully, shifting from structure to content. This was the core of it.. the part that decided everything.

To reflected the heart.

As It formed itself based on the target’s own emotions, memories, guilt, regret.. whatever lay deepest and most unresolved inside them.

Deep down, he was afraid. Someone of her level might actually break free, and he might not be able to pursue her afterward. After all, even though this illusion was said to be the strongest in the world.. capable of trapping even gods.. it was only the second time he had ever used it.

And that scared him..

This was only his second time using it.

He did not yet have complete confidence.

Still, he began.

Fully focused on her, he watched closely, curiosity stirring within him.. As also wondering what kind of illusion her heart would create

The illusion shifted.

Merisa was still analyzing when..

”Au... aunty Merisa... I..I am really sorry...”

The voice struck her.

Her calm fractured not outwardly, but deep inside.

She looked down.

Selena was there.

Kneeling.

Her body trembling, her head bowed low, tears falling freely onto the ground beneath her.

”Please don’t do this to... Razeal,” Selena cried, her voice breaking, raw with desperation. ”He really didn’t do it. I lied to you. He never tried to rape you. I just accused him. Please... please get him back. Save him... please don’t do this... I beg you...”

The words poured out in sobs, each one soaked in guilt and regret.

Merisa stared calmly..

Still her pupils constricted slightly as she took in the scene.

Selena’s posture. Her shaking hands. The way her voice cracked when she begged. The way her tears soaked into the floor exactly as real tears should.

It was perfect.

Just godly perfect.

Even for her.

This didn’t feel like an illusion at all.

But still... Someone appearing in front of her without even her sensing their presence all this time? That alone was suspicious. -1 point from illusion. Merisa calmly looked downward, as that evaluation passed through her mind. But an illusion that didn’t just copy space.. but bypassed perception itself. Directly targeting her emotional layer? Choosing figures it knew would matter to her. Choosing this situation. Choosing this timing.

”Hmmm... +2 points seems like illusionist knows about me.” she hummed softly in her mind.

An illusion directly linked to her feelings... even aware of what she might be interested in, what would shake her, what would force her attention. Merisa had already seen through it. She knew, rationally, that this was an illusion. She was not some young, inexperienced child who could be persuaded just because something looked real or sounded sincere. She knew better. She cant be persued by only this? Ill illusionist really looking down at her trying to use this kind of illusion on her? She genuinely was amused by this.. Of all kinds of illusions he could do... He used this.

But still...

She still looked down at Selena.

Kneeling. Crying. Begging.

Too real.

It was exactly how Selena would look if this were true. Exactly how she would speak. Even the tremor in her voice matched the girl’s personality. The guilt. The desperation. The self-blame. Everything aligned too perfectly with reality.

That was what made it more amazed.

Honestly even though merisa didn’t change any.. emotions it was so real that even she actually felt something subtle.. as her fingers twitched.

Just a little.

So small that no one would notice. So brief that even she almost dismissed it. But it happened. And she felt it. Even while fully aware that this was an illusion, even while knowing every word was fabricated, even while telling herself calmly that none of this mattered.. her body reacted before her mind could shut it down completely.

She controlled herself immediately. Calm. Steady. Collected.

But the reaction existed.

And that annoyed her.

”This illusion...” she thought, her calm expression unchanging, ”...is really trying.”

She didn’t move or speak. She simply observed, her mind dissecting while her heart.. uninvited responded.

And then, suddenly, something shifted.

Merisa felt it instantly.

A subtle loosening. A release.

The pressure that had been restricting her ability to leave.. was gone.

Unbeknowns to her. Five seconds had passed.

She could leave now.

With a single thought, she could tear herself out of this illusion, return to reality, resume control. The realization settled cleanly in her mind.

Even so... she hesitated.

Not because she was trapped.

But because she was curious.

She wanted to hear more.

She wanted to see what this illusion would show her next. Not because she believed it.. but because some twisted part of her wanted to know how far it would go. How deep it would dig. How accurately it would mirror her buried wishes.

But she also knew better.

She didn’t want to waste time on this stupidity.

Maybe she should just leave

But

Just as she prepared to leave..

Another voice echoed through the room.

”Sigh... please forgive me too, Lady Merisa...”

Merisa’s gaze shifted again.

Slowly.

Carefully.

”This is all my fault,” the voice continued, low, sincere, heavy with regret. ”If I had not lied that time... maybe all this wouldn’t have happened. I am sorry I did that. I hope you can understand it too.”

The words were harsh in content, but the tone was gentle. Not pleading. Not hysterical. Just... sincere. Like someone who had already accepted blame and only wanted acknowledgment.

”It’s not all my fault either” the voice added softly, painfully. ”As It’s his fault too for being weak. That was the only way it could be... but please, I ask you... stop this. I lied. He doesn’t deserve this.”

Merisa eyes blinked.

She looked down again.

Celestia.

Kneeling beside Selena.

Tears streamed down her face as well, silently soaking into the floor. Her posture was different from Selena’s.. less desperate, more resigned. Like someone who had made peace with herself as.. knowing she completely wasn’t wrong.. but still wanted to do one right thing before it ended.

Merisa’s heart... trembled.

Just for a moment.

Hearing those words from Celestia.. of all people hit differently. Not because of what was said, but because of who was saying it. Celestia had never been.. apologetic. Seeing her like this, kneeling, admitting fault, begging for Razeal...

It planted a dangerous idea.

What if she lied?

The thought slipped in uninvited.

Merisa inhaled slowly.

”This illusion is really getting to me,” she admitted silently, pinching the bridge of her nose with two fingers. A rare gesture of internal strain. ”I really should leave.”

Outwardly, she remained calm. Emotionless. Controlled.

But inside...

If only this were real.

The thought terrified her.

This.. this was something she had wished for more times than she could count. To hear those words. To know her son hadn’t done it. To erase that stain from his existence.

But now, seeing it in front of her, even feeling like it was fake, another feeling rose alongside that relief.

Fear.

Because if it were true... she didn’t know how she would live with it.

She didn’t know how she would react to the realization that everything.. everything she had done to him was built on a lie. That the punishment, the exile, the coldness, the distance... had all been for nothing.

That was far more terrifying than believing he was guilty.

”This is good that it’s just an illusion,” she thought bitterly. ”If not... I don’t know what I would do.”

She had never truly reacted to any of this emotionally. She had buried it all under logic, rules, judgment. She had survived by convincing herself she was right.

This illusion threatened that foundation.

She was about to leave.

She truly was.

And then

The doors of the room snapped open.

They didn’t creak.

They didn’t open gently.

They were kicked open.

The sound cracked through the space violently, echoing against the walls, snapping Merisa’s attention instantly toward it.

And just as she saw what it was..

Her body suddenly stiffened full of horror.
