Chapter 2357: Chapter 2357: A Pure Hug Between Friends

”Can I really refine a second-grade Mysterious Pill today?”

Yin Xirou had long since forgotten Hao Gaoxing’s existence. Right now she was still incredulously mulling over what Ye Haochuan had just whispered in her ear.

A second-grade Mysterious Pill—that was a goal she had tried hundreds, even thousands of times for, and still never managed to reach.

Ye Haochuan had tossed out one light, casual sentence and said he could help her refine a second-grade Mysterious Pill today; it made everything feel a bit unreal to her.

”It’s just a second-grade Mysterious Pill, it’s not as hard as you imagine!”

Ye Haochuan smiled easily and said, ”But you absolutely have to keep my Alchemy a secret for me!”

”I’ve never really understood this. Anyone with eyes can see that the Spirit Meal you cook clearly uses some Alchemy techniques. What’s the point of having me keep it secret?” Yin Xirou was a bit puzzled.

”Spirit Meal is ultimately much simpler than Alchemy. You also know my Alchemy method is a bit special. I really don’t want all the South Sect Alchemists coming to coerce me into sharing my Alchemy!” Ye Haochuan said seriously.

He had already experienced the Temple’s hegemonism more than once. If the South Sect really discovered how special he was, coercing him into sharing his Alchemy was something they were absolutely capable of doing.

Besides, Zhao Mingyang had warned him before: the Taichi Domain was a Hua Clan specialty and very easy to expose. His Alchemy method was also unique to the Hua Clan, and extremely likely to give something away. He really didn’t dare be careless.

”Since you’re so cautious, why are you still willing to teach me?” Yin Xirou didn’t quite understand.

”Simple—because you’re a beauty!” Ye Haochuan chuckled.

A faint blush instantly climbed up Yin Xirou’s cheeks. An inexplicable joy rose in her heart, but on her face she deliberately snapped, ”Can’t you say anything honest? A beauty isn’t necessarily reliable at keeping secrets for you!”

”Of course not every beauty is reliable, but you clearly aren’t that kind of person!” There was genuine sincerity in Ye Haochuan’s eyes.

He was confident that he judged people fairly well. From Yin Xirou’s usual conduct, she was in fact a proud person, and would absolutely not break her word easily.

Of course, that wasn’t the real reason Ye Haochuan was teaching her Alchemy.

Chasing girls always requires paying a price.

Facing an ice-cold beauty like Yin Xirou, who kept everyone at a thousand miles’ distance, if he didn’t show some real skill, how could he possibly get close to her so easily?

Yin Xirou didn’t know Ye Haochuan’s true thoughts. She only felt a touch of emotion at being trusted unconditionally, and the relationship between her and Ye Haochuan suddenly felt much closer.

”Then no time like the present—let’s start!”

As she spoke, Yin Xirou had already sat cross-legged in front of the Pill Furnace, ready to listen to Ye Haochuan’s instruction!

Ye Haochuan carefully explained his Alchemy techniques to Yin Xirou in detail.

With the foundation from the other day, Yin Xirou found it much easier to absorb this new knowledge today.

After about half an hour, Yin Xirou forcefully suppressed the urgency and expectation in her heart, summoned a Flame tinged with faint black qi, and began extracting the Spirit Charm from several second-tier herbs according to Ye Haochuan’s method.

Feeling the powerful heat stirred up by that blazing black flame, Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but be filled with envy.

Yes, the whole reason he’d come this time was to borrow this Flame; as for instructing Yin Xirou in Alchemy, that was basically the payment for borrowing the black flame.

He really didn’t want a repeat of yesterday, wasting a huge amount of time and exhausting himself like a dog just to barely extract enough Spirit Charm for the Spirit Meal.

”Got it!”

At Yin Xirou’s delighted cry, Ye Haochuan finally realized that this young and beautiful female Mysterious Pill Master had already extracted all the Spirit Charm from the herbs and was about to move on to the second step.

This girl’s talent for Alchemy was actually pretty high!

It was just a pity that the Immortal Realm’s Alchemy methods were such a scam—so backward they could kill you!

Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but praise her inwardly.

Yin Xirou’s first attempt did not succeed.

But she wasn’t discouraged. After summarizing the experience from the first try, she was much more practiced in her technique the second time, and in the end successfully refined three Mortal Level second-grade Mysterious Pills.

From Ye Haochuan’s perspective, successfully producing three Pills was nothing to brag about. But for Yin Xirou, who had always used Immortal Realm Alchemy methods, this was like getting two hundred points on a paper with a maximum score of one hundred—a downright miracle.

”I did it, I finally did it!”

Yin Xirou was jumping around like a child, and even couldn’t help giving Ye Haochuan a big hug.

Feeling the wonderful softness against his chest, Ye Haochuan’s mind rippled, and he couldn’t help wanting to hold Yin Xirou tightly.

Unfortunately, Yin Xirou had already realized she’d ”lost control in her excitement” and hurriedly pulled away with a flushed face, leaving Ye Haochuan crying over the missed chance, able only to silently breathe in the faint fragrance she left behind and quietly savor the beauty of that moment.

Right now Yin Xirou wished she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into. For someone usually so conservative, what she’d just done was far too shameful.

She truly couldn’t figure out why she had suddenly become so ”loose.”

In truth she couldn’t really be blamed. Her desire to become a Mysterious Pill Grandmaster was simply too strong. Having that wish suddenly realized, it was only natural that she couldn’t suppress the wild joy in her heart and did some unexpected things.

”I’m sorry, I just... got too excited!”

”You did go a bit overboard! You didn’t ask for my consent and just hugged me on your own. That’s way too disrespectful!”

Ye Haochuan put on a ”serious” face, though he couldn’t hide the wicked smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. ”No way, I have to hug you back. Only then is it fair!”

”Get lost!”

Yin Xirou’s pretty face darkened as she shoved away Ye Haochuan, who was walking over with his arms wide open.

”Hey now, you can’t just burn the bridge after crossing the river!” Ye Haochuan said with a bitter face.

”How am I? It was clearly you who took advantage of me first!”

A wave of grievance surged in Yin Xirou’s heart, and she huffed coquettishly.

”Does helping you become a Mysterious Pill Grandmaster, such a huge favor, not deserve even a single hug from you?” Ye Haochuan said indignantly.

”I...”

Yin Xirou was completely led along by Ye Haochuan’s rhythm and for a moment couldn’t find any words to refute him.

”Enough with the ’I’ this and ’I’ that. This is just a simple congratulations between friends for your Alchemy success. Don’t overthink it!” Ye Haochuan said with a face full of ”sincerity.”

You’re the one who’s overthinking it, okay?

Yin Xirou felt utterly wronged.

”Fine then, we’ll say it’s just between friends...”

Before Yin Xirou could finish her sentence, Ye Haochuan, who had long been unable to wait, stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.

Fragrant! Soft! Smooth! Tender!

In an instant, all sensations condensed into these few words, crashing through Ye Haochuan’s mind like wave after wave, each crest higher than the last, sending his blood surging and his heart pounding.

Yin Xirou’s pretty face was already as red as an apple. She wanted to push Ye Haochuan away, but a strange sensation washed over her, making her body go weak as if she only wanted to lean softly into this man’s embrace.

Her feeble struggles, at this moment, only looked like the playful acting spoiled of a lover.

”You two... you two...”

Outside the window, an enraged roar suddenly exploded, thick with fury: ”You shameless pair, you shameless pair!”
