Chapter 1226: Chapter 1225: Today, this peak, I am determined to climb! (Part 1)

Ye Haochuan moved forward step by step, spending several hours climbing yet still at the foot of the mountain.

”Damn it, how come I didn’t notice the mountain was this high from outside?”

Ye Haochuan couldn’t help but curse.

Though he had gradually adapted to the pressure here, over time, it still consumed a lot of energy. These several hours of climbing were more exhausting than running over ten laps around Earth.

”Huh? Why is this tree here again?” Looking at the broken withered tree on the side, Ye Haochuan frowned.

He had already seen this withered tree three times, every time precisely at an interval of about an hour.

Ye Haochuan was full of doubt. After thinking for a long while, he said, ”It shouldn’t be the same tree. Planting the same tree at equal distances, that’s really boring.”

Putting aside his doubts, Ye Haochuan continued forward. However, to dispel his suspicion, he made a mark on the tree.

An hour later, he encountered the tree again without any doubts remaining. What surprised him was that the mark on the tree was indeed the one he had drawn.

”Back to the original position? Impossible, I’ve been going upwards, always heading towards the peak, how could I return to the original position?”

Ye Haochuan plopped down next to the withered tree, closed his eyes, and fell into deep thought.

Long Xiaotian had already warned him that climbing these Holy Peaks wouldn’t be easy. Spending so much time and energy yet making no progress must be the oddity of this Vermilion Bird Peak.

Ye Haochuan thought long and hard, still without any discoveries. He wanted to check the conditions of the other two peaks but only saw a hazy white fog.

”Going forward is staying in place, what about going backward?” Ye Haochuan’s mind sparked, and he quickly got up, heading down the mountain.

He wasn’t someone who sat around waiting to die; sitting idle brought no benefits, and the way out needed to be found by exploring.

What surprised Ye Haochuan was that, having climbed for several hours, he took only ten minutes to return to the foot of the mountain.

”It looks like the first barrier is forcing people to turn back!” Ye Haochuan smiled calmly, saying, ”But too bad, I am not someone who gives up easily. Today, I am determined to conquer this peak!”

With that, he decisively turned around and climbed towards the peak again.

When he reached near the withered tree again, Ye Haochuan suddenly stopped moving.

This path was barren except for this withered tree, which was the only reference point.

”Could it be that this withered tree has some secret?”

Ye Haochuan let out a soft exclamation, staring intently at the withered tree.

This withered tree seemed to have died hundreds of years ago, its surface even slightly carbonized. The only conspicuous thing on the tree was the mark Ye Haochuan had made.

”No, I remember making the mark in the direction of the mountain’s foot, but now, how has it turned to the left?” Ye Haochuan suddenly widened his eyes, ensuring he hadn’t seen it wrong.

Ye Haochuan slowly closed his eyes, sinking into thought.

Suddenly, a thought entered his mind, making his eyes light up immediately.

The so-called direction and distance are all relative.

He was convinced the direction of the mountain peak was fixed, so he confidently assumed he was always moving forward. But if the position of the peak wasn’t fixed, wouldn’t his path not be a straight line?

”This must be a Phantom Realm, using an illusory peak to lead me in circles!” Ye Haochuan instantly felt his doubts dissipating, and the path ahead becoming clearer.

Since what he saw was an illusion, there was no need to rely on his eyes!

Ye Haochuan slowly closed his eyes, chose a direction, and began walking leisurely, neither fast nor slow.

With eyes closed, the path wouldn’t be a straight line. But this curve was random, unaffected by the illusion. Once he exited this Phantom Realm, no matter how off course he was, he could still find the right path.

He didn’t know how long he walked, nor how far. Suddenly, Ye Haochuan felt his foot hit a stone, almost stumbling.

He opened his eyes sharply, finding the surrounding environment unfamiliar.

The previous path was flat, with nothing but the withered tree. Here, rocks were everywhere.

At the base of the mountain, Ouyang Zhu’s expression was heavy when suddenly, a guard beside him shouted, ”Deacon, look, Young Master Yu has reached the third level!”

Ouyang Zhu’s heart instantly rejoiced. He looked up at Vermilion Bird Peak and indeed saw Ji Tianyu’s figure in the third stage.

Vermilion Bird Peak had four levels in total. Once the fourth is surpassed, one could successfully reach the top. Ji Tianyu had climbed the third stage, just one step from the fourth.

”Haha, geniuses are truly geniuses!” Ouyang Zhu couldn’t help but praise, satisfied with Ji Tianyu’s progress.

After looking at Ji Tianyu, he couldn’t help but turn to Ji Tianye. A day ago, Ji Tianye had already reached the third stage and was now advancing to the fourth.

With the progress of these two young masters, this Four Holy Peaks journey was bound to be fruitful.

Even though Ye Haochuan was an unexpected variable, as long as it didn’t affect the young masters reaching the top, all accidents could be ignored.

As he was rejoicing, the guard suddenly shouted again, ”Look, the intruder has climbed to the second stage of Vermilion Bird Peak!”

”What?” Ouyang Zhu turned his head in shock, his eyes nearly popping out.

”How is it possible? It took Young Master Yu two full days to reach the second stage; how long has he been here?”

”Could he be more genius than Young Master Yu?”

”Impossible, Young Master Yu is one of the top five geniuses of the Ancient Martial Arts Sect, even ranked among the best in terms of talent. How could anyone be more genius than him?”

The guards were in a commotion, further irritating Ouyang Zhu’s already frustrated mood.

”Shut up, all of you!” Ouyang Zhu shouted, ”This Vermilion Bird Peak’s inheritance will only belong to Young Master Yu. If anyone dares to say another word, I’ll tear their mouth apart!”

Seeing Ouyang Zhu so furious, the guards went silent, awkwardly closing their mouths.

Ouyang Zhu coldly watched Ye Haochuan’s figure on the second stage, clenching his fists tightly.

His previous words were to reprimand the guards but also to comfort himself.

Ye Haochuan’s sudden intrusion left him very uneasy. If Ye Haochuan indeed seized Vermilion Bird Peak’s inheritance, he wouldn’t know how to explain it to the Ji Family.

”Are there any Ji family disciples on the second stage?” Ouyang Zhu suddenly asked.

”Yes!” the guard hurriedly replied, ”There were seven or eight left behind initially, and now there are about ten on the second stage.”

Ouyang Zhu’s eyes suddenly turned cold, saying, ”Inform them to obstruct that person. No matter what method is used, he must be delayed. Once Young Master Yu reaches the top, that person is doomed!”
