Chapter 1098: Chapter 1097: Am I Doomed? (4 more updates)

In the luxurious suite, both President He and President Zhang were present, both men over forty.

After Su Yingxue came in, President He rose to make the introductions. After shaking hands, they sat down to chat.

Following that, President Zhang casually talked to Su Yingxue about new drama investments and how he looked forward to working with her, while President He chimed in, roughly stating how young and talented President Zhang was, and how wealthy he was.

So far, everything seemed normal.

”President Zhang, Yingxue, you two talk first, I’ll go take a call.”

However, after President He went out, President Zhang started to act restlessly. He sat next to Su Yingxue, his gaze greedy.

And after President He left, he stood guard at the door and didn’t make any call!

”Yingxue, what’s your take?” President Zhang glanced at Su Yingxue’s Holy Peak and asked leisurely.

Su Yingxue moved aside and said, ”President Zhang, based on your description, I’m quite interested in this drama. However, I’ve just started in the industry and I’m not professionally trained. I worry that I might not be up to the task...”

Su Yingxue started as a singer, and although many stars today act and sing effortlessly, it’s easy for actors to sing as long as they aren’t tone-deaf. But for singers to act isn’t easy, and lack of acting skills can lead to harsh criticism.

”I understand your concerns well, and I won’t hold back from telling you that although I’m investing in this drama, there’s a significant disagreement with the director in selecting actors. They insist on using veteran artists, but I’m different; I prefer giving opportunities to new talents.”

Su Yingxue nodded and said, ”Nowadays, movies are heavily commercialized, everyone hopes to profit, and only veteran artists can guarantee box office success.”

”Exactly!” President Zhang said, ”But if it continues like this, veteran artists are overused, leading to poor films, while newcomers don’t get chances. So, I always wanted to invest in a movie, use new talents, give you younger folks a shot.”

”I’ve seen your albums, very impressive. Even though you aren’t professionally trained, I believe in your talent and that you can shine in the performing arts.”

Su Yingxue said, ”Thank you, President Zhang, for the compliment, but... won’t insisting on using newcomers risk conflict with the director?”

President Zhang laughed and said, ”I’m funding it, and if it fails, it’s my problem! As long as you’re willing, I’ll definitely go against the objections and let you debut as the lead actress.”

The way wealthy people speak is indeed audacious!

Su Yingxue, feeling grateful, said, ”Thank you, President Zhang. I will work doubly hard to live up to your expectations.”

”Do you really plan to live up to my expectations?” President Zhang suddenly smirked evilly.

Su Yingxue, puzzled, asked, ”President Zhang, what do you mean by this?”

President Zhang moved closer to Su Yingxue and said, ”Yingxue, I’ve been following you since your debut. You’re beautiful and your singing is sweet; I appreciate it a lot.”

”You flatter me, President Zhang.”

”Stay tonight, let’s talk thoroughly about the new drama.” Finally, President Zhang got to the point.

Su Yingxue immediately stood up and said, ”Sorry, President Zhang, I have things tonight.”

No matter how naive Su Yingxue is, she understood President Zhang’s implied intention — clearly, he wanted to take advantage of her!

”Wait!” President Zhang said with a deep voice, ”Yingxue, if you don’t have a good chat with me, you might not pass the audition.”

”Thank you for your kindness, President Zhang, but I’m not someone who’s willing to do anything for a role!” Su Yingxue said firmly. She realized that President He had been out for a long time. She figured that the two must have planned this.

Su Yingxue turned and walked out, but President Zhang grabbed her and shouted, ”You better think it through carefully. Do you really think relying on hard work and talent is enough in today’s entertainment industry?”

Su Yingxue shook off President Zhang and said, ”I don’t care what others do, but I, Su Yingxue, will never stoop to such indecent acts!”

”Heh...” President Zhang suddenly laughed coldly and cursed, ”A mere performer, acting high and mighty with me!”

”Sorry, President Zhang, I have to leave. Please find another talent for your new movie lead!” Su Yingxue couldn’t stand staying any longer, but President Zhang blocked her path at the door.

”Since you’re here today, don’t even think about leaving!” President Zhang revealed his true intent, his eyes ravaging Su Yingxue.

”President Zhang, if you persist, I’ll call the police!” Su Yingxue threatened, taking out her phone.

”Call the police?” President Zhang swiftly grabbed and slammed her phone on the ground.

”You...” Su Yingxue was startled, looking at President Zhang’s fierce eyes, she instinctively stepped back.

”President Zhang, my boyfriend is waiting downstairs. If you... dare to use force against me, he’ll never let you off!”

”Heh...” President Zhang sneered coldly, ”Threaten me, are you? What is your boyfriend worth? With just one word from me, he wouldn’t even get past the hotel door!”

With that, President Zhang grabbed Su Yingxue’s wrist, pulled forcefully, and tossed her onto the bed.

You scoundrel! Not wanting to live anymore, huh?

Witnessing this, Ye Haochuan immediately stormed out of the room.

Guarding the door, President He saw someone charging towards him from the opposite room and was taken aback, asking nervously, ”Who—who are you?”

”I’m Yingxue’s boyfriend!” Ye Haochuan said, kicking President He to the ground, then burst through the door.

”Who?!” Hearing the commotion, President Zhang swiftly turned around.

Ye Haochuan rushed over and slapped President Zhang hard on the face, the force so intense that it knocked out his teeth and left one side of his face swollen.

”Damn it! Think you’re all that just because you have some money? Think you can take advantage of anyone?” Ye Haochuan cursed, delivering a hard kick to President Zhang’s stomach.

”Ah!”

President Zhang grimaced in pain and immediately shouted, ”He Youcai, He Youcai!”

At this moment, He Youcai, who was just getting up outside the door, sprinted inside. Seeing President Zhang’s state, his heart skipped a beat; the boy sure hit too hard!

”President Zhang, are you alright?” He Youcai hurried over to help President Zhang up, but President Zhang angrily shouted, ”Alright? You try it, damn it!”

”How dare you beat President Zhang like this, kid, whoever you are, you’re doomed!” He Youcai made a call immediately, and in less than three minutes, seven or eight security guards streamed in.

”Heh...” Ye Haochuan snickered coldly, ”I’m doomed? I’d love to see what you can do to me.”

”Hit him, beat him up, kill him and I’ll take the blame!” President Zhang roared, ”Whoever kills him gets fifty thousand!”

Indeed, with heavy rewards, there are brave men. The security guards could no longer stand idle; they rushed towards Ye Haochuan.
