Chapter 788: Chapter 787: I Am Her Boyfriend (1 more update)

Just as Ye Haochuan had surmised, after Yang Hong returned home last time, Zeng Rugou took a fancy to her at first sight and thus prepared to pay a visit to Father Yang to ask for her hand in marriage.

However, this young man was known for being idle and engaging in numerous misdeeds, which was well known throughout the surrounding villages. Even though he was the son of the town chief, how could Father Yang possibly approve of him? He decisively refused, and his tone was very firm.

This irritated Zeng Rugou, who just yesterday brought a group of people and severely beat Father Yang.

It really was that beast Zeng Rugou!

Hearing from her own father, Yang Hong clenched her teeth in anger, ”I’ll call the police right now and have them arrest them!”

As she spoke, she took out a cellphone from her bag.

”Are you silly? Do you think calling the police would help? You don’t even have any evidence.” Ye Haochuan pulled her back, shaking his head.

This woman really is a beauty with brains the size of a pea, so pretty yet thinking so simplistically. If the others came prepared, they definitely would not leave behind any evidence.

”Then what do you suggest we do?” Yang Hong glared at Ye Haochuan.

At that moment, Father Yang also waved his hand and said, ”Let it be, the town chief’s family is too powerful, we can’t afford to provoke them.”

He paused, then coldly added, ”But I will never agree to that Zeng Rugou marrying you!”

”No! We can’t let this matter go!” Yang Hong fumed. Her own father had been beaten severely, nearly killed—she couldn’t bear it at all!

Just then, suddenly from outside came a loud shout, ”Right! I also think we can’t just let this matter go!”

The dilapidated courtyard door was pushed open, and a group of people filed in.

Leading them was a young man dressed in a casual suit, looking prim and proper. Behind him, a big crowd dressed in bright red clothes followed, each carrying large boxes, looking very much like a procession from ancient times coming to claim a bride.

”Second Miss, Young Master Zeng has come to visit, and you’re not coming out to receive him!”

Liu Ruyan, who had been sent away yesterday, also came. She stood fawningly beside the young man, her cheeks still slightly swollen.

”Get out! Our family doesn’t welcome you!” Seeing Zeng Rugou, Yang Hong’s anger surged immediately, and she extended her hand and yelled fiercely.

Damn! Yang Hong has such a hot figure! She’s also damn pretty! How did I not notice her before! But now that I’ve seen her, I can’t miss this chance, I must get her in bed!

Swallowing his saliva, Zeng Rugou’s eyes flashed imperceptibly with evil as he stepped forward, holding a large bouquet of roses, and spoke sincerely, ”Yang Hong, I truly like you! Just marry me, and I will surely provide the best dowry and hold the most lavish wedding for you!”

No sooner had he finished this statement than the crowd in red clothing opened the boxes around them, and immediately, an array of glittering jade ornaments and gold and silver jewels were displayed before everyone.

And beneath these jewels were neatly stacked bundles of RMB!

Setting aside the value of these jewels, just the RMB in each box amounted to at least several hundred thousand—across several boxes, it summed up to over a million!

Zeng Rugou really had money, damn it!

Ye Haochuan clicked his tongue. While these people were nothing to him, to an average rural family, this was undoubtedly a princely sum!

Just a town chief, and yet his family was so rich, something was off.

”How about it? As long as you agree to marry me, all of these are your dowry! And this is just for the engagement! On our wedding day, I’ll bring out another five million, two houses in Haishan City, plus a BMW worth a million!”

Zeng Rugou wore a smug smile, confidently staring at Yang Hong!

He believed that once she heard his offer, no girl could resist! Although Yang Hong was a top beauty, she was human and liked money too!

The monetary strategy had always been Zeng Rugou’s classic move!

”Second Miss! What are you dazed about? Young Master Zeng is showing such sincerity, why don’t you hurry up and agree!” Liu Ruyan breathed rapidly, her eyes gleaming as she stared at those dozen large boxes.

If she were Yang Hong, she would have agreed already!

All that money, how long would it take to earn it!

”Get out!” Contrary to what everyone expected, Yang Hong’s tone was icy as she spat out a word.

”Second Miss, you’re making it hard for your aunt to speak! Young Master Zeng’s family is so wealthy, being with him, you wouldn’t have to worry about food or clothes ever again!”

Liu Ruyan trembled all over, her eyes glaring at Yang Hong with some resentment.

Zeng Rugou had promised that if he could get Yang Hong to agree to marry him, he would give Liu Ruyan a sum of money, so of course, she was doing her utmost to persuade her.

”You get out! My daughter will never marry that beast!” Father Yang roared angrily, his tone filled with excitement.

A flicker of surprise crossed Zeng Rugou’s face he had personally arranged for someone to severely beat Father Yang, causing a brain injury, how could he have recovered so quickly?

His expression grew a shade darker, and although Zeng Rugou wasn’t sure if Father Yang would suspect anything, he was determined to get Yang Hong at any cost.

After thinking, he sternly shouted, ”Uncle Yang, I too am a fine young man with an extraordinary appearance! In our town, is there really anyone more outstanding than me? Yang Hong can only marry me! No one else can!”

This was indeed tantamount to tearing off any pretense of cordiality, Zeng Rugou, being the Town Chief’s son, was usually unbridled. In this area, no one dared to provoke him!

Ye Haochuan scoffed internally, just a Town Chief’s son yet so arrogant. Indeed, the mountains are high and the Emperor is far away, he has become a local tyrant!

”Bastard! Don’t think I’m afraid of you! Even if it means fighting with my last breath, I will not let Second Miss marry you!” Father Yang’s emotions surged, and his breathing suddenly quickened.

No sooner had he spoken these words than his face flushed, his body went limp as if deflated, and he fell down holding his head.

Ye Haochuan acted quickly, immediately supporting Father Yang. With a brief glance, he knew it was a recurrence of an old injury. The wound in his head hadn’t fully healed and had been aggravated, causing this reaction.

”Brother Ye! What’s wrong with my dad?” Seeing her father fall, Yang Hong was so anxious tears were nearly streaming down, her face filled with panic.

”It’s alright, Uncle just had a recurrence of his old condition. I’ll give him an acupuncture needle, and he’ll be fine.”

As he spoke, Ye Haochuan laid Father Yang on the ground, and his silver needles quickly plunged into his head.

Moments later, Father Yang’s flushed face returned to normal, and he slowly regained consciousness, but his body was still somewhat weak and powerless, so he could only lie sitting on the ground.

”Yang Hong! Who is this damned mongrel?!” Zeng Rugou glared at Ye Haochuan, seeing that Yang Hong seemed to have a special relationship with him, jealousy flaring in his heart, twisting his facial expression.

Seeing him curse immediately, Ye Haochuan felt displeased. Without waiting for Yang Hong to speak, he wrapped his arm around her and said, ”I’m her boyfriend, you got a problem with that?”
