The Divine Urban Physician

Chapter 2138: Immediate Challenge

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Ye Chen’s appearance left everyone in confusion.

”He just entered the inner sect. Is he really going to challenge a core disciple?”

”How is that possible? I thought he was just here to observe.”

Some disciples whispered among themselves. If someone had just entered the inner sect, they would typically have to challenge other inner sect disciples, not core disciples.

Ye Chen walked toward an elder.

When the elder saw Ye Chen, he smiled warmly.

Ye Chen had become a legendary figure in the entire Divine Sword Palace.

”Elder, I wish to challenge a core disciple,” he declared.

His statement was shocking, and it stunned everyone present.

Was Ye Chen truly going to challenge a core disciple?

No one had expected Ye Chen to be so audacious.

Having just entered the inner sect and already wanting to challenge the core disciples was something they found hard to comprehend.

Word quickly spread that Ye Chen intended to challenge a core disciple. Nearly all the inner sect disciples learned about it and rushed to the arena to witness the event.

Some disciples thought Ye Chen was far too arrogant. A sixth-level Creation realm expert daring to challenge a core disciple was absurd.

”If you wish to challenge a core disciple, you must at least be a Star Aperture realm expert,” the elder remarked, glancing at Ye Chen as he prepared to speak.

At that moment, Ye Chen stepped forward, and his powerful aura surged dramatically.

The elder’s expression shifted slightly. Was Ye Chen’s rate of improvement not too rapid?

”Very well, wait for two hours. I will arrange for a core disciple,” he said.

Not every core disciple was available to accept the challenge; it depended on their schedules as well.

Wang Chuan was resting in his room when he realized that Ye Chen was missing. He came down from the mountain to look for him and learned that Ye Chen wanted to challenge a core disciple.

He was so alarmed that he hurried to the arena.

What was going on with his disciple?

It had only been a few days, and he was already challenging the core disciples. Did this mean that he would be challenging the sect master in a few days?

He was a complete lunatic!

When he finally found Ye Chen, he spoke urgently, ”Ye Chen, you are no match for a core disciple with your current strength. Come back with me immediately.”

He did not want Ye Chen to embarrass himself in public. Which core disciple was not a genius of the sect?

Although Ye Chen had the capability to challenge someone stronger, Wang Chuan did not believe that Ye Chen could secure a victory.

His current plan was to give Ye Chen a year to advance.

”Master, I want to give it a try. It is fine even if I lose,” Ye Chen insisted.

He did not wish to tell Wang Chuan that he believed he had a 100% chance of becoming a core disciple. Otherwise, Wang Chuan would likely think he was boasting and insist that he return.

Wang Chuan thought for a moment before nodding in agreement.

He believed it might be beneficial for Ye Chen to face some hardship. If everything came too easily, it could lead to a haughty attitude.

Soon, two hours had passed. The elder approached Ye Chen and informed him that there was indeed a core disciple available.

Ye Chen readily agreed. He did not believe that the Divine Sword Palace had a core disciple who had reached the Sealed Gate realm.

As long as his opponent was not a Sealed Gate realm expert, Ye Chen was confident he would win.

He stood on the arena stage. Soon, a disciple with a saber scar on his face and a heavy sword on his back entered the arena.

There were sword marks on his back. Although there was no sharp aura emanating from him, everyone could feel a sense of oppression.

”Huh... That’s Zhan Tianqiong. Why is he here?”

”Ye Chen’s defeat is inevitable!”

”I know that Zhan Tianqiong entered the Myriad Dragons Mountain for seven days and nights to hone his sword intent. He eventually escaped with serious injuries after facing a demonic beast that was almost as strong as a Sealed Gate realm expert.”

The martial artists watching the match had already concluded that Ye Chen would be defeated in one strike.

Zhan Tianqiong was exceptionally powerful among the core disciples, and his swordsmanship was renowned.

Everyone believed that Ye Chen was simply unlucky. Sometimes, luck played a crucial role in entering the ranks of the core disciples.

Some inner sect disciples managed to advance by challenging weaker core disciples.

Wang Chuan, standing below the training field, felt his heart race with anxiety.

Ye Chen’s expression remained unchanged, his eyes calm and focused.

”Are you Ye Chen?” Zhan Tianqiong asked, staring down at him.

Even the core disciples had heard of Ye Chen’s reputation.

”That is correct. Today, I will become a core disciple. My time is valuable,” Ye Chen replied.

His words elicited laughter from the audience.

Ye Chen was indeed quite arrogant, right? It was impossible for a Creation realm disciple to join the ranks of the core disciples.

Throughout the history of the Divine Sword Palace, no Creation realm expert had ever done so.

”If it were a few more years from now, I might be no match for you, but now? I am not concerned about you.”

Every disciple who could enter the core was a genius with an inherent sense of pride.

Ye Chen smiled and remained silent. He pulled out a wooden sword.

The moment the wooden sword appeared, an uproar erupted.

In Ye Chen’s previous challenges, using the wooden sword would have been a strong choice. However, the fact that he was using a wooden sword now seemed like he was inviting disaster.

Zhan Tianqiong drew a heavy sword from his back. The sword he wielded weighed at least 10,000 pounds.

With a single strike, he could easily crush even powerful demonic beasts.

Every core disciple had the capability to fight above their level!

Boom!

The six Daos behind Ye Chen began to vibrate, and Gengjin energy enveloped his body.

Ye Chen’s aura continued to intensify. Zhan Tianqiong tightened his grip on the heavy sword and frowned.

The aura that Ye Chen radiated was becoming increasingly threatening.

The fight commenced!

Ye Chen gripped the wooden sword and dashed forward with determination.

As he rushed forward, he pushed off against the ground of the arena and propelled himself into the air. With both hands on the wooden sword, he swung it down in a swift motion.

Ye Chen did not employ any complex cultivation techniques. He only utilized the simplest form of sword essence.

These straightforward attacks forced Zhan Tianqiong to retreat repeatedly.

Bang!

Zhan Tianqiong intercepted Ye Chen’s wooden sword with his heavy sword, and then delivered a powerful kick which contained the force of over ten thousand pounds.

It would be lethal!

Yet, under the watchful eyes of everyone, Ye Chen extended his hand and blocked the kick. He then thrust his sword toward Zhan Tianqiong’s chest.

Zhan Tianqiong broke free from Ye Chen’s grasp and retreated sharply.

As he fell back, Ye Chen refused to relent and pursued him relentlessly.

The audience watching from below were stunned. They had anticipated Ye Chen being defeated in one blow, so who could have predicted that he would now be overpowering Zhan Tianqiong?

At that moment, everyone could see that Zhan Tianqiong was in a precarious position.

Wang Chuan’s heart raced with turmoil. He realized that he did not truly understand his disciple. However, the surprises Ye Chen brought him were becoming more and more extraordinary.
