The Divine Urban Physician

Chapter 2128: Potential?

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Following the scent of blood, Ye Chen and Little Yin proceeded cautiously, step by step. After ten minutes, they finally spotted Old Shen.

The instant Ye Chen laid eyes on Old Shen, he felt an uncontrollable surge of anger.

Old Shen was bound to a large tree, and bloodstains marred his clothing. Flanking him were two early-stage Creation realm experts.

”Old man, hurry up and hand over the Crimson Flame Herb,” one of the experts barked.

Old Shen appeared to have lost his cultivation and was on the brink of death.

”Stop!”

Little Yin’s eyes brimmed with tears as she rushed forward.

The two experts were both outer sect disciples of the Divine Sword Palace. They had ventured into the Myriad Dragons Mountain for training and discovered that Old Shen had located a Crimson Flame Herb.

Old Shen, who had been foraging for herbs for many years, had long been aware of their presence. He had secretly concealed the Crimson Flame Herb from them.

This was the reason for the current dire situation.

”Oh, and there is also a little girl. Although she is quite young, she is still appealing. It appears that fortune smiles upon us when it comes to our luck with women,” one of them laughed cruelly.

They had noticed Ye Chen, but dismissed him entirely.

He was merely a mortal, and someone they could easily handle.

As for Little Yin, her cultivation level was far too low. The two of them could overpower her with ease.

”Ah... Little Yin, why are you two here? Run!” Elder Shen urged, his voice full of concern. He had intended to secure the Crimson Flame Herb for her, hoping it would aid her in the outer sect assessment.

Little Yin remained silent. She wiped her tears and gazed at the two cultivators.

Just as the two of them prepared to strike, Ye Chen stepped forward, positioning himself protectively in front of Little Yin.

”Leave these two to me,” Ye Chen declared firmly.

Ye Chen genuinely did not regard these two as a threat.

Little Yin wanted to protest, but upon seeing Ye Chen’s unwavering gaze, she stood silently behind him, offering her support.

”An ant wishes to interfere? You are courting death,” one of the Creation realm experts scoffed, eyes filled with disdain. He lunged forward, his fists clenched, confident that one punch would end Ye Chen’s life.

Ye Chen’s expression remained unchanged, a hint of mockery flashing across his face.

He had never taken such weaklings seriously.

As the man charged at him, Ye Chen raised his arm and delivered a swift slap.

Pa!

With a sharp sound, the outer sect disciple spun through the air in a complete circle before crashing to the ground, lifeless.

The other Creation realm expert, observing from a distance, was frozen in fear, nearly collapsing to his knees.

A Creation realm expert had been killed by a mere palm strike?

How could this be possible?

However, the reality before him was undeniable.

”You... Do not approach. If you take another step, I will kill him,” the remaining expert stammered, pressing his sword against Old Shen’s neck.

It was evident how afraid he was from the cold sweat that dripped from his forehead.

The situation was far too bizarre; a mortal had eliminated a Creation realm expert with a single blow.

”You hold no authority to threaten me.”

As soon as Ye Chen concluded his statement, he propelled himself forward. Only an afterimage remained in his wake.

The martial artist’s face turned pale with terror. Just as he aimed to strike Old Shen, he realized that Ye Chen had shattered one of his arms.

Ye Chen’s speed was astonishing!

Though his cultivation had yet to recover, his physical strength remained formidable.

A look of disgust crossed Ye Chen’s face. He then picked up the sword that had fallen to the ground.

With a swift motion, the sword pierced the man’s heart.

Old Shen was left in shock, and Little Yin covered her mouth in disbelief.

Two Creation realm experts had been vanquished by Ye Chen with such ease?

What was the true strength of this mysterious man?

Was he not injured?

”Little Yin, let us take your grandfather back.”

Upon hearing Ye Chen’s voice, Little Yin regained her composure and hurried over to untie Old Shen’s bindings.

Ye Chen hoisted Old Shen onto his back, holding Little Yin’s hand as they departed. As for the corpses of the two cultivators, it was likely that they would be consumed by the beasts during the night.

Upon returning to his residence, Old Shen began to regain his strength, though he remained in pain.

After all, it was merely a flesh wound. With some rest, he would be fine.

Old Shen called Ye Chen into his room and said, ”Ye Chen, you have killed two outer sect disciples. If the Divine Sword Palace discovers this, they will not let you escape unscathed. Why don’t you join Little Yin in the outer sect assessment?”

It would be easy for the Divine Sword Palace to determine that an outer sect disciple had been slain. However, if Ye Chen were to join the Divine Sword Palace, nothing would come of it.

Killing was commonplace in the Southern Region, and the sects even encouraged it. The objective was to eliminate the weak and preserve the strong.

However, the act of an outsider slaying a sect disciple held different consequences.

”Old Shen, let us discuss this matter later.”

Ye Chen did not regard the deaths of the two outer sect disciples with any concern.

If his actions were indeed discovered, he could simply relocate.

As for joining the Divine Sword Palace, Ye Chen was internally opposed. However, he considered that Little Yin would be participating in the assessment the following day. This elderly man and his granddaughter had been immensely helpful to him. Should any unforeseen events arise during the assessment, he could also lend support.

He viewed it as a means of protecting Little Yin and repaying the kindness shown to him over the past few days.

After all, he would soon be departing.

It would be unlikely for him to encounter this old man and young girl again in this lifetime.

Moreover, Ye Chen was curious about the assessment of the Divine Sword Palace. He had heard that the evaluation focused on an individual’s potential in Sword Dao.

He was eager to discover just how much potential he possessed in Sword Dao before his cultivation was restored.

Old Shen sighed softly. He could sense that Ye Chen was unconcerned, yet he refrained from saying anything further.

Soon, a day passed in the blink of an eye. It was the day designated for the Divine Sword Palace’s outer sect disciple assessment.

Old Shen no longer had the opportunity to enter the Divine Sword Palace. He could only place all of his hopes on his granddaughter.

”Do your utmost during the assessment. It is acceptable if you do not pass. You may try again in two years. This time, you must heed Ye Chen’s advice.”

Since Old Shen had rescued Ye Chen, he recognized that Ye Chen was extraordinary, and this was confirmed when Ye Chen came to his rescue yesterday.

Ye Chen and Little Yin departed the hut. Old Shen lingered at the door for a long time, tears shimmering in his eyes.

Old Shen’s hut rested at the base of the Divine Sword Palace’s mountain. The two of them swiftly arrived at the main entrance of the Divine Sword Palace.

The entire sect encompassed an area of twelve mountain peaks. To gain entry to the outer sect, one had to pass through one of these peaks.

Upon reaching the entrance, they were met with a throng of people.

Old Shen had already briefed Ye Chen about the assessment process.

The first stage involved entering the Illusory Formation to test one’s Sword Heart.

Only those possessing a Sword Heart of 1,000 feet or more would be deemed qualified. In this regard, two-thirds of the cultivators would be eliminated.

Almost every individual in the Divine Sword Palace trained in sword techniques, so the Sword Heart held paramount importance, as it represented a person’s talent in Sword Dao.

Ye Chen did not concern himself with this aspect whatsoever. He had comprehended Immortal Sword Essence, and his talent in terms of Sword Dao was beyond imagination.
