System Awakened: I Became the Mafia Kings' Obsession

The man’s body shivered more violently. He dared not raise his head to look at Cassian, shaking his head in terror.

”Spare me! Please spare me,” he pleaded, his voice trembling.

”Spare you?” Cassian chuckled, pulling out his gun and lightly blowing on the barrel. ”If I hadn’t caught you, would you have spared me? You managed to escape the last time, but you are lucky enough to throw yourself back here,” he stated, pointing the gun directly at him.

The man was even more terrified, wishing the wall could just open up and become his shield, his eyes widening in terror.

”I didn’t intend to harm you! I didn’t,” he cried.

”Oh, well. I remember the previous night, someone disguised himself as a server at the bar, deliberately mixing something into my drink and handing it to me,” Cassian commented, staring coldly at the man.

”And after an investigation into what the stuff was, it was confirmed to be a fatal poison. You said you didn’t want to harm me, but you wanted to kill me, right?” he stated.

The man froze. ”Please! I will never do such a thing again! Please spare me! I will tell you everything you need to know,” he pleaded immediately, desperately afraid of death.

”No need,” Cassian stated. Suddenly, a loud gunshot echoed. Cassian had pulled the trigger and shot the man right in the head. ”I already know everything I need to know,” he completed, blowing on the gun again.

He watched as the light in the man’s eyes slowly faded and his body dropped lifelessly against the floor.

Venom entered the room with a laptop in his hand. His gaze fell on the lifeless body on the floor, and he signaled the two standing guards to clean up the corpse.

The men nodded and immediately got to work, while Venom stood beside Cassian, his hands typing over the keyboard of the laptop he was holding.

”Mr. Samson has left his mansion. Judging by the road he’s taking, he’s probably going to the Diren headquarters,” Venom reported.

”He really thinks he is invincible, doesn’t he? Having the guts to leave his mansion.” A dark smile appeared on Cassian’s lips. ”Let’s end him on his way. It will be quite troubling to deal with him if he reaches the headquarters,” he said.

Venom nodded. ”Right, Donna Nova came,” he said.

Cassian snapped his head toward Venom, standing up from his chair immediately. ”Why didn’t you say so earlier? Where’s my wife now?” he asked, already prepared to leave.

Venom lightly shook his head. ”She left already... um, she mentioned that she had something to do. The red-haired guy is still inside,” he said.

Cassian closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. ”Okay,” he murmured. ”Did you get any information on him?” he asked.

Venom shook his head. ”I couldn’t find anything about him. It’s as if he just appeared out of thin air. Also... he has been addressing the young madam as his mother ever since she arrived,” he reported.

Cassian frowned slightly. ”Mother,” he repeated. ”He looks oddly so much like my wife too, but... he’s far older than her. Why is he calling her mother?” he thought, getting confused.

”Investigate the Brown family properly and run a DNA test to see if my wife is the real daughter of their family. Also... run a test on him too, to see if he’s in any way blood-related to my wife,” he ordered.

Venom bowed slightly. ”Yes,” he said, and left.

Cassian stared into the distance, making it impossible to guess his thoughts.

Alan’s Apartment

It was already evening. Alan walked back to his apartment, and beside him was a young black-haired man wearing the same school uniform as him. He paused as soon as Alan paused and stared at him in confusion.

”What’s the matter?” the young man asked with concern.

”Are you not going home?” Alan asked, staring at him.

The young man chuckled and shook his head. ”Let’s go in. I’ll sleep over at your place tonight. It’s already late; I can’t go back home tonight,” he stated.

”You can’t!” Alan immediately shouted, and the young man cast him a confused gaze.

Alan smiled awkwardly. ”I... how about I walk you back home? It’s not too late anyway,” he offered, his grip on his bag tightening.

The young man stared at Alan, speechless. ”What happened? Is your sister being unreasonable again?” he asked, his voice filled with worry.

Alan shook his head. ”I didn’t know you wanted to stay with me today. I... I had my mum’s stuff moved here, so it won’t be quite convenient,” he stated.

The young man nodded in understanding. ”Since Aunty will be staying with you tonight, then I’m relieved. Let me say hi to her,” he said. He was about to open the door, but Alan instantly grabbed him to stop him.

”She... she is probably asleep already. Let’s not disturb her. I’ll greet her for you tomorrow,” he said urgently, and immediately dragged him away.

”Don’t worry, Jack, I’ll escort you home,” Alan commented, and pulled Jack away without waiting for his reply.

A few hours later, Alan was back. With his hand on the door handle, he took in a deep breath before opening the door. Entering, he found Nova sitting on the couch watching a movie as if she had been patiently waiting for him.

A warm smile appeared on his lips as he gently closed the door to avoid making a sound. He took slow steps behind her with the intention of surprising her, but then...

The sound of loud moans and groans entered his ears. It grew so intense that he had to snap his head up to look at the film Nova was watching, and... it was... actually... porn.

”NOVA!!” A loud shriek escaped from his mouth, and he jumped over the couch, immediately searching for the remote. Once he found it, he immediately turned off the television.

He was so shocked that he couldn’t breathe properly, his gaze on Nova filled with absolute disbelief.

Nova, who didn’t seem surprised by his presence, raised an eyebrow and stared back at him. Her expression was perfectly calm, making it look like it wasn’t her first time watching it.

”Welcome,” she commented.

”What... what do you think you are watching, huh?” he asked.

”Obviously, porn,” Nova replied simply.

Alan’s jaw dropped, rendering him speechless. ”How can you be so calm about it? Where did you even get this from?” he asked.

”That... I borrowed it from your neighbor,” Nova replied.
