Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

The Completed Ritual

Roar!

A chilling howl came from behind, and the spiritual energy across the entire battlefield began converging toward that direction.

”What’s going on? I should have already disrupted that ritual... Could those runes have been nothing but a disguise?”

If that were truly the case, Lin Ye would have to admit that he had been fooled.

”What’s the situation now, do we keep running?”

Natalie stopped in her tracks, sensing something off about what was happening behind them.

”You weren’t doing this on purpose, were you?”

Lin Ye looked at Natalie with a hint of suspicion.

”Doing what on purpose?”

Natalie asked, confused.”...If you want everyone here to die, then you’re just about to succeed. How exactly did you modify those runes? And all those rune structures you told me about, were those made up?”

Coincidences did exist, but Lin Ye didn’t believe in them.

If this wasn’t a coincidence, then Lin Ye had misjudged something.

”I didn’t lie to you, I just told you what I sensed... um, my classmates could never understand my descriptions of runes.”

Natalie wore an awkward smile.

”So you’re saying we modified the key runes that advance the ritual in a completely wrong way, yet ended up completing a different ritual instead... Do you know what the probability of that happening is?”

Lin Ye looked with great interest into the distance, where a colossal phantom formed from highly concentrated compressed spiritual energy loomed.

”Infinitely close to zero...”

Natalie wasn’t an idiot, on the contrary, she considered herself quite skilled in rune studies.

”No, it’s one hundred percent, because it’s already happened.”

Lin Ye sat on Natalie’s shoulder as the surrounding spiritual energy was completely drained dry.

”...So, do we not need to run anymore?”

Natalie had also realized their predicament.

”Right, for a deity, a distance like this means nothing. It doesn’t even need to strike at you directly, you’d be drained of spiritual energy and mental energy, leaving nothing but desiccated flesh and blood. Congratulations, your enemies are about to die out soon.

Including the enemies who sent you here.”

Lin Ye swung his legs back and forth as the battlefield fell completely silent. With spiritual energy and mental energy gone, the entire world was left in utter stillness.

”What a shame, I never got to use my other skills... but I guess this isn’t so bad either.”

Natalie sat down on a corpse, waiting for death to approach.

Five minutes later, Natalie stood up, staring at Lin Ye with a look full of questions.

”That shouldn’t be right. What exactly did that octopus make for you? Why am I still fine too?”

Lin Ye could roughly guess why Natalie hadn’t died, but he couldn’t figure out why he himself was still alive either.

”Hehe, good thing I kept praying to the deity to let me live. This must be the power of the deity!”

Even though Natalie had already accepted the outcome of the world’s destruction, if she had a choice, she would obviously rather keep living.

”So it’s the power of the deity, that makes sense now.”

Lin Ye didn’t possess any such power at all. This was probably related to the Card Octopus, which could allow Natalie to survive in extreme environments.

The one she had been praying to wasn’t Lin Ye at all, she had been praying to the Card Octopus.

Lin Ye had no idea what had gone wrong in between, but it seemed he had been affected by something as well.

”So, can we run away now?”

Natalie desperately wanted to just sprint back to the city.

”Up to you. Everyone else is dead anyway, so you can go wherever you want.”

Lin Ye didn’t pull Natalie out of the battlefield. He wasn’t sure what the completion conditions for this simulation mission were either. If merely ending the war was enough, then he should have already been sent back.

”...If I go over there, can I save the people in the city?”

Natalie pointed toward the direction of the rune-filled deep pit and asked.

”You can’t. You wouldn’t even be able to get close to that place.”

Lin Ye didn’t think Natalie could face a deity head-on.

”...Then I’m relieved.”

Natalie let out a sigh of relief.

”Did you think I was going to say that?”

But then again, if Lin Ye were added to the equation, things might be different.

”I really can protect the residents of the city?”

Natalie wasn’t too convinced.

”Whether you can or not, we’ll only know by going over there to take a look.”

Lin Ye couldn’t be certain about the situation over there either.

”...Then let’s go take a look.”

Natalie turned and charged toward the rune-filled deep pit.

”You’re running the wrong way.”

Lin Ye reminded her.

”Oh, sorry, I got the direction mixed up.”

Natalie had no choice but to dash in the correct direction.

Along the way, there were many desiccated corpses. They hadn’t run far earlier, so Natalie quickly returned to the vicinity of the rune-filled deep pit.

”Where’s the deity? Why can’t I see it?”

Natalie looked around. The deep pit was piled high with corpse fragments, and there was no obvious change nearby. Other than the spiritual energy being drained, there was nothing particularly special here.

”How would I know? I can’t even use mental energy right now.”

Lin Ye had no idea where the deity that appeared earlier had gone.

”Are you two looking for me?”

Lin Ye and Natalie simultaneously received a spiritual imprint.

But they couldn’t find the source of the spiritual imprint at all.

”Can you spare the people in the city?”

Perhaps because of the prayer she had offered earlier, Natalie asked very directly.

”No. I have just awakened and need to replenish many things. Besides, the entire Plane is the sacrificial offering for the ritual, that was agreed upon beforehand.”

The two received another spiritual imprint.

”Was that ritual created by you?”

Lin Ye didn’t believe it was really just a coincidence.

”Ritual? No. I don’t perform rituals, I only receive them.”

They received another spiritual imprint.

”Then when will you leave this place?”

If the other party didn’t plan on leaving the battlefield, Lin Ye probably wouldn’t be able to complete the simulation mission.

”I’ll finish cleaning up this Plane first, then go searching for the next one.”

The deity sent out a spiritual imprint.

”Are you sure? This isn’t exactly a nice place.”

Lin Ye really didn’t want to fight a deity. If the other party could leave sooner, things would be much easier for him.

”I think this place is quite nice, actually. The two of you are also quite nice. I really like things I’ve never seen before.”

The deity was quite interested in them, which was why it had been chatting with them for so long.

”What do you think?”

Lin Ye looked at Natalie.

”I’m praying to the deity, but this time it’s not for my own survival, it’s praying that everyone else can live too.”

Natalie knelt on the ground with her eyes closed, praying very sincerely to the deity named Lin Ye.

”Praying won’t help. This is my territory, no deity will answer your prayers here.”

The deity watched them with great patience.

”I really suggest you leave this place as soon as possible, or it might be too late.”

Lin Ye kindly warned.

”Then let me see what you’ve got. I... wait, what’s going on? What is this place?”

The deity suddenly let out a somewhat panicked voice.
