Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

Modifying the Runes

The tendril creature instantly closed in on Natalie, a dozen or so tendrils flailing wildly as they smashed toward every part of her body.

Natalie was sent flying directly, dozens of dents caved into her body’s surface, her head crushed flat.

”What are you doing? Hit it!”

Lin Ye was hiding inside the camouflaged epidermis, and he was lucky enough not to have been smashed to death by the enemy along the way.

”I can’t keep up with its movements, and I don’t know how to fight at all!”

Natalie wasn’t dead. Her body’s resilience was extremely tough, and she had no obvious weak points.

”Use a skill! Don’t evolution routes come with built-in skills? Haven’t you ever played a game?”

Lin Ye watched Natalie’s miserable escape with a speechless expression. Although she had zero combat awareness, her strength wasn’t weak. Even if she was just fleeing, the enemy couldn’t kill her anytime soon.

”Skills? How do I use them? There’s no button for that?!”

Natalie wanted to fight back, but she had no idea how to go about it. She was just an ordinary student who had never had the chance to fight an enemy.”Use your mental energy, release the skill directly through the system panel... I never thought someone would actually need this feature!”

To help parasitic organisms understand skills more easily, Lin Ye had added demonstration images of skills to the system panel. Parasitic organisms could also familiarize themselves with skills through the system panel.

Theoretically, parasitic organisms could also release skills through the system panel.

But that was too stupid. Only bots would make such a move.

”You can do that?! Why didn’t you say so earlier!”

Natalie, who had been scurrying away with her head tucked in, suddenly turned around and used a skill through the system panel against the charging tendril creature.

Countless octopus tentacles burst out from the surrounding corpse fragments, binding the tendril creature’s body.

The tendril creature hadn’t expected Natalie to use such a skill. It tore apart the tentacles on its body and charged at Natalie at top speed.

Natalie hastily used her second skill, but before she could finish it, she was sent flying once again.

”Why did you stop? Just press QWER and it’s done! I’m done with you, a bot would use skills better than you.”

Lin Ye was starting to regret not killing himself earlier. If he had just restarted, he’d already be eating lunch in the Rest Area right now.

”I was afraid I’d miss!”

Natalie turned and fled in a panic, producing tentacles as she ran to entangle the tendril creature chasing behind her.

But the tendril creature was already on guard, dodging all those tentacles.

Using skills not only failed to block the tendril creature, it actually slowed down Natalie’s escape.

”Don’t use the Q skill anymore! Use the W skill directly, it’s locked on!”

Lin Ye hadn’t seen such ugly combat in a very long time.

”Oh, oh!”

Natalie rolled rapidly across the ground while locking onto the tendril creature’s position with her mental energy, then used her second skill.

The tendril creature’s speed began to slow, and a large amount of blood gushed out from the cracks on its body, each crack like a small red fountain.

Those were the cracks left behind by the earlier tentacles.

The tendril creature struggled to take its final step, then collapsed to the ground with extreme unwillingness.

It didn’t fear death, but it couldn’t accept dying at the hands of such an enemy.

Some small octopuses crawled out from those cracks. Those octopuses had completely merged into the tendril creature’s body, and each one took away a part of the tendril creature. After they left, the tendril creature’s corpse vanished as well.

”...So that’s the W skill?”

Natalie held her breath. After completing her evolution, she could only use this body’s abilities. It wasn’t until she actually used those abilities that she understood what this body truly represented.

”Yeah. The enemy normally wouldn’t even bleed. I designed a pretty good combo, and you used it like that...”

The evolution route Lin Ye had spent time designing was no ordinary thing. Even if the parts weren’t standard, that tendril creature shouldn’t have had the right to get anywhere near Natalie.

”This is way too exaggerated. I only used two skills, and I killed a ninth-tier spiritual energy user.”

Natalie wiggled her tentacles, savoring the previous battle.

This was her first time fighting an enemy. Even though there were some small mistakes, she still defeated a powerful opponent.

”Stop savoring it. Go deal with those runes quickly. Once the fighting up top is over, you might not even be able to escape.”

Lin Ye had originally planned to bring Natalie to clash with stronger enemies, but now he had completely given up on that ridiculous idea. He had been far too naive before.

”There are even stronger enemies up there?!”

Natalie hurriedly followed Lin Ye’s instructions to modify the runes on the ground. Another ninth-tier she could still handle, but stronger enemies? No thanks.

Since he couldn’t perceive the rune structure, Lin Ye could only rely on Natalie’s vague descriptions to modify the rune structure on the ground, and the one operating was Natalie herself.

He had originally wanted to use this rune deep pit for something, but now he just wanted to destroy the thing as quickly as possible.

As long as this war ended, he could probably go back.

Even if he couldn’t go back, he could try other things. At least it would be more interesting than watching Natalie fight here.

”That’s it?”

Natalie asked in surprise.

”Destruction is far easier than construction. I’m very good at destroying.”

Lin Ye only needed to modify the structure of a few key positions to cause the ritual to collapse completely.

”So should we get out of here?”

The explosions up above hadn’t stopped. Natalie put on the camouflaged epidermis, and she really liked this camouflage ability.

”You’d better hurry. This place is about to collapse.”

The ritual was still advancing, and Lin Ye felt that something was very wrong here.

”Got it!”

Natalie climbed out of the rune deep pit at top speed. By now, this place had become the main battlefield, with a large number of tendril creatures and Empire soldiers locked in bloody combat across the area.

Blood stained the ground red, and mutilated corpses were scattered everywhere.

The corpse of that giant corpse-recycling creature lay right next to the rune deep pit, its contents completely hollowed out.

When Natalie climbed out of the rune deep pit, two powerful streams of mental energy swept over her. The nearby spiritual energy was stirred up by the two mental energies, one side trying to grind her into minced meat, the other trying to drag her back.

The two streams of compressed spiritual energy collided, and Natalie was sent flying by the violent spiritual energy.

”Both sides should have detected you. I suggest you run fast.”

The camouflaged epidermis could only fool high-level spiritual energy users with average mental strength. The Controllers would not be deceived.

Natalie didn’t reply. She moved away from the rune deep pit at top speed, and missiles fell around her like a meteor shower, vaporizing the corpses on the ground.
