Chapter 1254: Chapter 1253: Trapped in the Mechanisms

In the line of sight, the tall metallic figures gradually revealed their forms, astonishingly they were metal puppet mechanisms, in the form of humans, beasts, and even birds, totaling no less than dozens.

These puppets emitted no aura, appearing as if they were lifeless.

”These are the puppet mechanisms of the Mo Sect!”

Ling Chen’s expression suddenly turned serious. Puppet mechanism technique still exists in the Nine Provinces Land nowadays, yet compared to the real puppet mechanism technique, it is merely a minor part of it. The puppet mechanism technique of the Mo Sect is the true ancestor of the puppet arts!

”In this Mechanism City, there are so many ancient puppets.”

Not just Ling Chen, even Shen Bingxin’s expression was somewhat grim. Emperor Qinling’s era has passed five thousand years until now, ordinary puppet mechanisms must have decayed long ago, but these puppet mechanisms have survived till now, they are definitely not ordinary puppet mechanisms — they must be Mo Sect ancient puppets.

”These puppets don’t seem to have a strong aura, maybe their threat level is not that high.”

A strong figure from Lingyue Island was somewhat puzzled and spoke.

”Judging the strength of the puppet mechanisms by their aura? That’s too foolish.”

Spiritual Heart Saint shook her head. Even without an aura, due to their materials and power, puppet mechanisms could very possibly withstand a Saint. Yet, before she could elaborate, red lights abruptly shone in the eyes of those puppet mechanisms, then, with an extremely fierce posture, they suddenly charged at the people of Lingyue Island!

”Do not retreat; forcefully charge through!”

Shen Bingxin shouted, stepped forward, swung her ice-blue longsword, and the sword qi turned into an icy path. The puppets nearby were frozen, unable to move for a short time.

Yet, in just an instant, unusual noises echoed from the bodies of those frozen puppets, with hot red lights faintly flickering, then mist started rising from them. In sight, the ice on those puppets’ bodies was melting at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Seeing this situation, even Ling Chen was taken aback; the abilities of these Mo Sect ancient puppets were incredible, defying ordinary logic.

At this moment, a puppet of three zhang height punched towards Ling Chen. Ling Chen deftly dodged and then slashed at the fist with his sword, causing dazzling sparks to burst out.

Clang!

A crisp sound was heard, leaving a mere white mark on the fist, while Ling Chen was forcibly pushed back, his arm going numb.

”Even a Holy Tier Treasure Sword can’t damage them?”

Ling Chen’s eyes contracted; his sword could break a Saint’s defense, yet now it couldn’t even scratch the surface of these puppets?

Even as strong as Shen Bingxin, under the onslaught of these puppet mechanisms, was somewhat at a loss, unable to take the initiative. The Lingyue Island forces quickly got overwhelmed and scattered.

The defense among the puppet mechanisms was exceptionally tight; their tall bodies aligned seamlessly, even the air was blocked by bird-shaped puppets. Trying to break through was like a fool’s dream.

Luckily, the attack power of these puppets was generally weak, otherwise, they would have suffered heavy losses in a blink.

”These puppets are too troublesome; we must fight while retreating and shake them off first!”

Helpless, Shen Bingxin changed strategies, suggesting the people of Lingyue Island shake off the puppets first, as they’d be trapped to death here, wasting strength for nothing, which wasn’t worth it.

Ling Chen understood Shen Bingxin’s intention. Tangling with these puppets wasn’t wise, and they could use their speed advantage to get rid of them, conserving energy.

Without hesitation, Ling Chen decisively activated Sword Controlling Technique, stepped on a flying sword, and rapidly retreated. Midway, he saw Ling Yin being surrounded by puppets, reached out, pulled Ling Yin onto the flying sword, and broke through the puppet encirclement.

Bang!

At this moment, a strong figure from Lingyue Island was blasted out, his body against the wall, accidentally activating the dragon pattern sculpture on it. The next moment, the whole Mechanism City vibrated, and all grounds, walls, and hidden compartments moved, as if the world was changing.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Dense hidden weapons shot towards Ling Chen, forcing him to dodge repeatedly. Just then, the area that was originally a wall suddenly cracked open, revealing a closed space.

”Brother Ling Chen, be careful!”

Seeing the closed space, Ling Yin couldn’t help but exclaim, and before words could finish, Ling Chen couldn’t brake in time, falling into the closed space with Ling Yin.

As Ling Chen and Ling Yin entered the space, the cracked wall closed up, even the crack vanished, as it had never split.

”Troublesome, Ling Chen seems to be trapped in a mechanism.”

Spiritual Heart Saint saw Ling Chen disappear, hurriedly reminding Shen Bingxin.

”Don’t worry too much; both this boy and the girl are Youth Kings, possessing extremely strong fortune. It won’t be easy for them to be in trouble.”

Shen Bingxin shook her head, not overly concerned. If it were others trapped, there might be mortal danger, but Ling Chen and Ling Yin might be blessed by misfortune. Moreover, worry was useless now; the mechanism fully sealed, and neither she could break it — powerless.

The priority now was how to lead the people of Lingyue Island out of the predicament.

With this thought, she activated the Water Dragon Orb again, an overwhelming water dragon swept out, clearing away the puppets, then she shouted at everyone, leading them to break out.

While this breakout battle ensued, Ling Chen and Ling Yin had fallen dozens of zhang deep underground, where there seemed to be a strong suction force, pulling them down.

On landing, Ling Chen inspected the surroundings, finding an underground palace, surrounded by walls and passages, seemingly extending in all directions, leading to various paths.

Just like a giant labyrinth.
