Ling Tian Sword God

It seemed that Ling Yuan saw Ling Chen’s difficulty, and he patted Ling Chen’s shoulder, comforting him: ”This matter is not something a young person like you can handle. I think this time the Family Head underestimated the seriousness of the issue. I will make a request to the family again and have them send someone else.”

”As for you, Ling Yu, just like the other young disciples, you should stay at the front line for a while for training, then return to the family.”

However, upon hearing this, Ling Chen shook his head, ”Everything depends on humans; how can one know if something can’t be done without trying?”

No matter how difficult the situation is, wanting Ling Chen to retreat is impossible.

”What plan do you have?”

Ling Yuan looked at Ling Chen with a bit of newfound respect, his mind stirred, and then he pondered. Perhaps Ling Chen had some extraordinary skills unknown to him; after all, this young prodigy was valued by the Family Head.

”The matter of the traitor is still unclear,” Ling Chen pondered for a moment, then his eyes slightly brightened, ”To find out who the traitor is in a short time, we must take the initiative and lure the snake out of its hole.”

”Oh? How do you plan to do that?”

Ling Yuan asked, somewhat surprised.

”Launch another major operation against the Witch Fiend Sect.”

There was a sharp gleam in Ling Chen’s eyes, ”Send these three people out to execute the operation. If it fails, whoever comes back alive or escapes will be the traitor.”

”But in doing so, wouldn’t the two Half-Saints who are not traitors be in danger?”

Ling Xue asked, somewhat shocked.

”Sacrificing two Half-Saints for the stability of the allied forces is worth it,” Ling Chen said indifferently.

”Hmm, it’s a feasible plan, but the other party might not take the bait.”

Ling Yuan nodded slightly, but the trap was too obvious, and if the other side didn’t fall for it, there was nothing they could do.

”Then I’ll add some more bait by saying that I, the Ling family’s top prodigy, am also involved in this operation. I refuse to believe that the Witch Fiend Sect won’t be tempted.”

Ling Chen said with a faint smile.

”This...are you planning to use yourself as bait?”

Both Ling Yuan and Ling Xue were taken aback. By Ling Chen’s tone, it seemed he intended to go personally and use himself as bait to lure out the traitor.

”You can’t catch a wolf without risking the child; to catch a big fish, you need attractive bait. Trading the life of the Ling family’s top prodigy for a traitor bound to be exposed is quite a profitable deal.”

”However, this is too dangerous. If the traitor leaks the information, those two Half-Saints might not be able to get away unscathed, let alone you. This matter must be considered carefully.”

Ling Xue shook her head. She was here to assist Ling Chen and supervise him to prevent reckless actions. This current idea was too risky, and Ling Chen must not be allowed to act on it recklessly.

”Rest assured, Sister Ling Xue. We can have Ling Yuan’s uncle hide experts among the team to ensure my safety.”

Ling Chen seemed unconcerned. This was a double-edged sword by nature, with great risks and great rewards. It seemed to be the only way to resolve the problem swiftly.

”I need to report this to the Fourth Elder and let him decide.”

Ling Yuan spread his hands, indicating that he couldn’t make this decision due to its significance. If Ling Chen were really killed by the Witch Fiend Sect, he couldn’t bear that responsibility.

As for the Fourth Elder, he was the Commander of the Saint family’s allied forces and had the decision-making power on such matters.

”Then I’ll trouble Uncle.”

Ling Chen nodded. This plan seemed the most effective currently, and he believed that the Fourth Elder would make the right decision.

”You should go and rest first. If there is any news from the Fourth Elder, I’ll inform you immediately.”

Ling Yuan looked at Ling Chen and then said, ”By the way, tomorrow morning, I will arrange for you to meet the experts assisting you in the investigation. From then on, they’ll be your team, and as the Special Envoy, you can command them to handle matters.”

”Thank you, Uncle.”

Ling Chen clasped his fists in thanks, then he and Ling Xue withdrew.

”What a hot-blooded young lad.”

After Ling Chen and Ling Xue left, a gleam appeared in Ling Yuan’s eyes, ”I just wonder if this kind of boldness will ultimately bring a qualitative change to the battle or if it’s merely a meaningless sacrifice?”

With his eyes flickering, Ling Yuan turned and walked towards the depths of the main hall.

”Ling Yu, this matter still demands caution. Ling Hai and Ling Feng are still eyeing you covetously. If you risk yourself, they will undoubtedly strike you when you’re down.”

After exiting the main hall, Ling Xue also looked at Ling Chen and spoke.

”They’re merely small fry, not worth worrying about.”

Ling Chen shook his head, a glint of sharpness in his eyes, ”If they dare to make any moves, then I’ll just eliminate them.”

Ling Xue’s pretty face changed slightly at these words. At that instant, she truly sensed a chilling killing intent from Ling Chen.

Until then, she had always thought of Ling Chen as a kind person. She never imagined that when Ling Chen intended to kill, he was like a different person from her previous impression.

Ling Chen also had such a frightening side.

The next day.

In the eastern training ground, more than a dozen experts gathered, among them four had reached the Eighth Layer of Sky Apex Realm, showing impressive strength.

”Hey, what kind of person do you think the new Special Envoy is?” A charming and mature middle-aged woman stretched lazily and sighed.

The robust man next to her said, ”He’d better be stronger than us, or I won’t be convinced.”

”Hehe, don’t worry; they wouldn’t send someone weaker than you. He should at least be at the Half-Saint level.”

”No, he should be beyond the Half-Saint level. Otherwise, they would just pick someone directly from Qinglong Island.”

”Heh, you’re going to be disappointed. I heard the new Special Envoy is just a young man, and his cultivation isn’t that impressive.”

A middle-aged scholar with a long beard shook his head.

”What, a young man? Are you sure?”

The robust man widened his eyes, a bit incredulous.

”Look, they’re coming.”

The middle-aged scholar was about to speak, but suddenly swallowed his words, his gaze falling on the figures approaching.

The people arriving were none other than Ling Chen and Ling Xue.

”Is this the new Special Envoy?”

All present, including the middle-aged woman, looked surprised. Ling Chen appeared to be just barely in his twenties, yet he was the new Special Envoy, which caught them off guard.

”What’s headquarters thinking, sending over a young brat with such low cultivation to handle an investigation into traitors?!”

”Letting this young brat lead us might lead to a quick death. Even if I have to offend him, I must make him understand.”

”Let’s first see the situation. Maybe it’s a mistake.”
