After dinner, we went to sleep. Mom asked about our progress as soon as Amy left.

By now, Amy understood that no matter what she did, she couldn’t get an answer from us, so she pouted and left.

If she wanted to, she could find out, but she refused to do it that way. So she had to go empty-handed.

Elena looked at that and laughed at Amy’s reaction. She was curious too, but she could wait for us to reveal what we were doing.

After we told Mom about our first artifact, she nodded and told us to get some rest.

We nodded and went to our rooms.

”Hey, tomorrow, let’s begin our main project. We’re unstoppable once we get started.”

Luna saw my happy reaction, and she felt happy as well.

It was a strange kind of satisfaction. If we wanted to, we could go around and find someone to make this for us, but achieving it on our own gave us an entirely new kind of satisfaction.

We reached Luna’s doorstep, so I looked at her and said,

”Good night, Luna. Take a good rest. We have lots of work to do tomorrow.”

She smiled at that.

”Okay, then you take a rest as well. Tomorrow, you won’t have time to slack off.”

I looked at her, and a genuinely bright smile appeared on my face.

”Why? There’s no reason I can’t. All I have to do is give all the work to you and sleep in the lab.”

A black line appeared on her forehead.

”You wish. I’ll make you work until your laziness disappears.”

Then she returned to her room, and I went to mine as well and slept until morning.

As soon as morning came, I got up and got ready before going to see Luna.

She was still getting ready, so I waited until she came out.

As soon as she came out, she saw me, and her usual warm smile, one she reserved for those close to her, appeared on her face.

Then we went to have breakfast while bickering about who would take which task today.

Mom saw us bickering and joined us.

As soon as we entered, I greeted everyone and looked at Amy.

”Hey, how are your preparations for the succession going? Do you need any help?”

She just snorted.

”What can a brat like you do to help me? You don’t even know the full family yet, so how can you help me? Even Elena knows more about our family than you.”

I scratched my head awkwardly.

”Ah... those are small details. Don’t mind them. And why should I know them? I’ve never even met them before.”

Luna came closer and asked,

”You really don’t know?”

I nodded.

She put a hand on her forehead.

Amy looked at my awkward expression and smiled.

”Don’t worry about my business. What about your secret? Do you need any help from me? I’m a little busy, but I can still lend a hand.”

I shook my head.

”No need. It’s going well. We’re close to our end result.”

She stared at us.

”How close are you talking about?”

I answered honestly,

”About one percent.”

Her eyes twitched.

”We did some tests and got into the main project last night, so today is officially the start.”

Her eyes twitched even more.

”You just said that like you’re at the last step, but you brat only started it!”

Even Luna and the others laughed at that, but I didn’t back down.

”Yeah, but we started from scratch, and now we know how to do it. So we’ve started the main objective. That’s a long way, but this is the last step. As soon as we succeed in this, we’re done.”

Amy nodded at that.

”So I’m not going to ask what it is, but I have a feeling it’s something amazing.”

I nodded.

”You bet. You’ll be surprised when you see it.”

Amy nodded.

She had already figured out that this was probably something for her birthday, so she stayed out of it.

No one likes to spoil their gift before their birthday.

Then we finished breakfast.

Luna and I went to the lab, while Amy and Elena went to do their own work.

Luna removed her Space Ring and placed it on the table.

It was a beautiful ring that the Empress had custom-made for Luna, but even that Space Ring allowed time to flow normally inside.

We studied it in every way.

I used my Perception to the maximum and carefully sensed how it had been created.

Then Luna took another normal ring and gave it to me.

I had the Space Element, so I had to test it.

I took another monster core, concentrated my Space affinity, and did exactly the same thing I had done when I first created my Space Storage.

I sent a wave of mana into the core and then from the core into the ring.

But as soon as the Space Energy began to seep into the ring and started creating a separate space inside it, the ring exploded.

I immediately closed my hand around the ring and made sure the fragments didn’t fly toward Luna.

My body always had a Space Barrier around it. I only disabled it when Luna or someone close to me tried to hit me or when I needed to interact with them.

I didn’t want to ruin my fun by keeping a barrier up all the time.

Then we looked at each other and smiled.

Luna went to get a more potent ring, while I got another monster core.

The reason time flowed normally in other Space Rings was because they were created by separating a normal space.

But I was trying to use my new technique and Space Aura to create a separate space where nothing existed.

So it was much harder.

We continued the process, but the rings kept failing.

Then Luna took a ring and imbued it with mana to make it stronger.

This time, it worked.

Finally, we reached our final attempt.

We chose a silver ring.

Luna imbued it with Lunar Energy, and I also imbued it with Space Aura.

Then we looked at each other and nodded.

We were sure we could succeed this time.

I put all my focus into the process.

I created a separate space and used Space Aura to shrink it down while preserving the entire storage space.

Then I imbued it into the monster core.

This was one of the most powerful monster cores we had—a Rank S core.

I used the monster core’s power to imbue the Space enchantment into the ring.

Luna looked at me and supplied her Lunar Energy, making sure the ring didn’t shatter.

I carefully applied everything into the ring.

Finally, we succeeded.

I removed the core and placed it to the side.

We both looked at our masterpiece.

Our eyes were shining with determination.

Then I took out a candle, lit it, and gave the ring to Luna.

”Okay. Put this lit candle into the Space Ring, and let’s take it out in a moment.”

”If we succeed, the candle should remain the same. If we fail, the candle will become smaller or the flame will burn out.”

Luna nodded and placed the lit candle inside the Space Ring.

We waited for a moment.

I looked at Luna.

”What do you think? Did we succeed or fail?”

Luna shook her head.

”It doesn’t matter. We already succeeded. We made a Space Ring.”

I realized that she was right.

We had made a Space Ring.

Even if it didn’t work the way we intended, we could simply make another one. It wouldn’t be a failure.

We weren’t short on materials or monster cores. With just one word, I could get thousands of them.

Then I looked at Luna expectantly.

Who wouldn’t want their experiment to succeed on the first try?

Luna nodded at my look and took out the candle.

It had been a few moments.

The candle came out exactly as it had gone in.

We both stared at it.

The candle was still the same size.

The flame was still burning at the top.

We looked at each other, ecstatic.

We had finally done it.

We high-fived each other.

”Yey! We did it, Gray!”

Both of us had expressions of pure excitement.

Then I heard a door open.

Mom was coming in with someone else.

I was only familiar with Mom’s presence.

My Perception caught everything, down to the last drop of water on the floor.

I looked toward them and heard,

”What are you celebrating, Gray?”

I looked toward Mom.

But the other presence suddenly vanished into thin air.

I blinked.

The next moment, that person was right in front of me.

Mom just sighed.

I felt two hands closing around me, as if someone was about to hug me.

That person hand stopped by the Space Barrier around me, and I instinctively teleported back to Mom in an instant.
