Chapter 2998: Chapter 2999: Fishing

”After all, Lady Laplace is going to the Wilderness of Dreams for the first time. Is there any particular place you want to visit?”

Speaking was Angel, who had already left the Heart Space with Laplace, while Luigi was left behind in the Heart Space for guarding and looking for items.

They were currently in the Buffer Zone.

Originally, Angel thought of going outside first, but Laplace said that the Buffer Zone is not in the Mirror Domain. According to the regional distribution of mirrors, the coordinates of this Buffer Zone should be in the Southern Domain.

So, there was no need to leave, as they could directly enter the Wilderness of Dreams from the Buffer Zone.

Angel also attempted to communicate with the Ability Tree in his Mind Space.

In the Heart Space, most of the lights on the Ability Tree were dim, but now, the tree was glowing radiantly, clearly showing that the Buffer Zone was in the area covered by the Wilderness of Dreams.

”It doesn’t matter, any region is fine,” Laplace replied. She wasn’t there for inspection but purely for a test.

Hence, where to go didn’t matter to her.

Of course, this didn’t mean Laplace wasn’t interested in the Wilderness of Dreams. It’s just that, to her, the Dream Crystal Origin was more intriguing at the moment, and exploring the Wilderness deeply could be done later.

Although Laplace said she didn’t mind, Angel still seriously used an illusion technique to present a rough map of the Wilderness of Dreams.

The map wasn’t complete; Angel only displayed the areas populated or rich in vegetation, screening out other barren regions.

Although Laplace wasn’t concerned about where to go, she was indeed interested in the map of the Wilderness of Dreams.

After carefully observing the illusion map’s sections, Laplace noted that not only were place names marked, but there were also some related descriptions. This was likely marked by Angel for her convenience in choosing a location.

After briefly reviewing the map, Laplace was slightly surprised to find that only three locations on the Wilderness of Dreams truly could be considered ”cities.” The rest were at best small gathering places or settlements.

This wasn’t quite in line with the wizards’ tendency to engage in large construction projects.

Confronted with Laplace’s confusion, Angel didn’t hold back, openly saying: ”The reason there are few cities is that currently, the Wilderness of Dreams is only open to the Barbarian Cave, whose people are still too few, naturally making it hard to establish more cities.”

”Even this place temporarily named ’New City’ is actually still in a semi-construction state currently. The main issues are the scarcity of talent and manpower.”

However, this is merely the current problem; once the Barbarian Cave finally opens to the outside world, these issues will no longer be relevant.

”Originheart City is mostly populated by mortals and is the first city in the Wilderness of Dreams. Your initiatory mentor resides here...” Laplace glanced at the information on the map and murmured softly: ”You initially wanted Luigi to go here, right?”

Angel nodded, zooming into the area of Originheart City. Through the holographic view, they could clearly see every building in the city.

Angel pointed at the Ocean Grand Theater and said: ”This place is where my initiatory mentor resides. He stays in the theater year-round, conducting various research and teaching the younger generations the piano.”

Laplace nodded, not commenting on Angel’s initiatory mentor but instead admiringly saying: ”Originheart City is indeed splendid; it’s the only place I’ve seen that accommodates so many spectacular structures.”

Angel: ”...Is that a compliment?”

Laplace nodded, her eyes showing appreciation: ”It’s very grand and majestic.”

Feeling Laplace’s sincere praise, if Angel were mortal, he might have been moved to tears.

The planning of Originheart City had been criticized by countless people, and Angel thought no one understood him. Yet, unexpectedly, Laplace did!

Suppressing his excitement, Angel was about to invite Laplace to visit Originheart City, but before he could speak, Laplace added: ”However, while the structures are indeed magnificent, the urban planning could be better. Still, it’s acceptable as long as it serves its purpose.”

The almost revealed emotion in Angel retreated instantly.

Indeed, he’s rebellious and alone, with no one to truly understand him.

”I won’t be going to Originheart City; I’m not interested in the realm of mortals,” Laplace paused and then looked at New City but ultimately shook her head.

New City was still under construction, and most inside were likely acquaintances from Barbarian Cave, making it inappropriate for her to visit.

As for the final city.

It was established by the group of Dream Plant Fairies under the Civilization’s Mother Tree. Originally just a small village, it evolved into a unique Tree Civilization as the Dream Plant Fairies grew and developed.

The city resembled a place where elves lived, full of a dreamy atmosphere.

Humans rarely set foot there.

Angel thought Laplace would choose the city under the Mother Tree, but Laplace still shook her head and randomly pointed to a location on the map: ”Let’s go here then.”

Angel looked at the location and found that Laplace had pointed to an inland sea.

Greya had spent some time near this inland sea, using the Authority of the ”Membrane of Rhythm” to create a vast array of marine creatures. Satisfied after tasting most of them, Greya left.

Soon after, Originheart City sent people there to settle in the vicinity and began constructing an outpost in an attempt to establish a fishing harbor.

And because the outpost could be considered a ”small colony,” Angel included it in the map. Unexpectedly, Laplace would ultimately choose such a secluded place.

This wasn’t really a ”choice,” but just a random point.

Angel could see that Laplace truly had no intention of deeply exploring the Wilderness of Dreams now, so he didn’t object when she chose a remote spot.

”Let’s begin,” Laplace said, sitting on a soft sofa and taking out the Log-in Device to activate the log-in.

A second later, Laplace entered the Dream Bridge.

Without stopping, Laplace swiftly moved forward. In a matter of seconds, she saw the familiar Light Gate at the end of the Dream Bridge.

Before entering the Crystal Origin of Dreams, there was also a Light Gate.

Passing through the Light Gate, after a brief weightlessness, Laplace’s body touched the ground, and upon opening her eyes, she found herself on a fishing boat.

Despite being an inland sea, she couldn’t see the end in all directions, feeling as though she was truly on the ocean.

Aside from herself and Angel, there was no one else on the fishing boat, only a well-crafted fixed fishing rod and a hold full of glow mushrooms.

”This boat was left by a Gourmet Sorcerer who was adept at creation methods. Those mushrooms are what she made... They’re edible and considered a staple type of mushroom,” Angel explained, ”As for the fishing rod, it’s what she used to gather marine ingredients.”

Angel was talking about Greya, who tailored the marine creatures to adapt to the waters for a while before fishing them. Once she had tasted enough, she left.

This is also why there is such a boat floating on the sea.

”Sounds like this Wizard is quite interesting.” Laplace said lightly, with her eyes focused on the fishing rod.

She’s not interested in those mushrooms, because there are also mushrooms in the Mirror Domain; but the fishing rod and sea fish are very rare there.

”Would you like to try fishing?” Angel asked.

Laplace thought for a moment, and nodded: ”Sure.”

So, Laplace slowly operated the fishing rod, beginning to try fishing.

Time slowly passed, and the little boat also drifted with the wind.

To Angel, the whole process was quite dull, but Laplace found it novel, as it’s not just trying a new experience, but also feeling the difference between the Wilderness of Dreams and the Crystal Origin of Dreams.

After about half an hour, Laplace slowly opened her mouth: ”Now I can basically confirm that Luigi cannot enter the Wilderness of Dreams due to the restrictions of the Immortal Realm.”

Angel had confirmed this point when Laplace entered the Wilderness of Dreams.

Upon careful thought, it makes sense. The Crystal Origin of Dreams seems separate from the Wilderness of Dreams, but many authorities are shared. If we consider them as continents, they belong to different continents of the same world.

Laplace and Angel can move freely because they are free to roam; in the same world, you can come and go as long as there’s a Gate of Dreams.

While Luigi could not move, he was hindered by Wonderland of Dreams, simply put, there was a conflict between the authority of Wonderland of Dreams and the authority of the Gate of Dreams.

Having confirmed this, the solution becomes easy to think of.

As long as Luigi leaves ”Uriel’s Choice”, he can freely enter and exit the Wilderness of Dreams.

However, the problem arises, Luigi cannot abandon ”Uriel’s Choice”, under such circumstances, Angel’s previous idea to have Jon teach him becomes unfeasible.

Laplace: ”How do you plan to solve Luigi’s problem?”

Angel pondered for a moment, then said: ”Although Luigi can’t come in, the means to solve the problem doesn’t necessarily have to be taught face to face.”

”I can try using an illusion technique to reproduce Uriel’s piano sound, then have Jon—my enlightenment mentor—listen to it. Maybe the problem can be solved across worlds.”

Laplace: ”Your method is worth a try, but I remember Luigi said Uriel’s piano sound is different each time, so relying on this method to cheat is still difficult.”

Angel: ”I understand that Uriel’s pieces are different every time, but his mood shouldn’t change each time, right? As long as we grasp his mindset, find the right way to break through, Luigi should learn flexibility.”

Laplace thought carefully and agreed with Angel’s point; there was no other way for now, so they might as well try it.

Next, Angel prepared to meet Jon.

Angel also invited Laplace to go, but she declined.

According to Laplace, ”I suddenly became interested in the environment of the Wilderness of Dreams, you don’t have to mind me, I’ll continue fishing here for a while.”

Angel didn’t believe it.

He suspected that Laplace stayed simply because she hadn’t caught a fish...

Angel didn’t really question Laplace, just nodded casually and left the boat.

After all, Laplace can go offline anytime using the log-in device.

...

Originheart City, Ocean Grand Theater.

Angel found Jon behind the theater, in a second-floor office.

When he saw Jon, he was busy tinkering with the Mother Tree Communicator, muttering to himself, looking very serious. If it weren’t for Babaya’s reminder on the table, Jon might not have noticed Angel for a while.

”Babaya, why are you pursing your lips? Behind me?” Jon first looked puzzled toward behind, and when he saw Angel, his eyes lit up: ”Oh, why are you here?”

Jon: ”Great, you’re here just in time. Come, try the new feature developed by the development team.”

Jon said as he held the Mother Tree Communicator, walking toward Angel, his face full of joy.

Although Angel still didn’t know what the new feature was, Jon’s expression of joy made Angel let out a long sigh of relief inside.

Jon finding purpose and value in the Wilderness of Dreams is what makes Angel happiest and most delighted to see.

He originally wanted to mention Luigi’s matter first, but seeing Jon’s urgency, Angel also temporarily set aside the pressing business and listened to Jon’s chatter.

As Jon narrated the new function, other members of the development team, such as Babaya, Kudodo, tactfully left the room.

With Jon’s detailed explanation, Angel finally understood what the new feature Jon mentioned was.

”Tree Group updated to version 1.7.”

”On the foundation of the graphics-text system-centered version 1, new improvements have been made.”

”The test version will add new feature integration: photography.”

”Photography?” Angel was stunned: ”This feature, I remember the mentor mentioning before?”

”Indeed, I mentioned it before, but it belonged to the development version then. Very few people could use photography.” Jon: ”But this time is different, in the upcoming update version, the photography feature will enter the test version, meaning, anyone registered with the Tree Group can use it!”

Angel recalls Jon explaining the principle of the ”photography” initial version before; simply put, it’s a kind of conscious drawing. This requires high spiritual power, and must be highly compatible with the Mother Tree to achieve.

Indeed, the original version of ”photography” was a feature usable by only a few people, hence it never loaded to the test version. It was retained in the hands of a few individuals, like... the little Trickster Tree Spirit, who had conscious drawing authority.

Now, Jon stated the photography feature will enter the test version, which means——

”Feature iteration?”

Only through feature evolution and simplification can the photography feature gradually become widespread.
