Chapter 2268: Chapter 2269: Book of Kael

When Nami Midori said this, it reminded Angel of what Parry had mentioned earlier: Six hundred years ago, Nami Midori suddenly began seclusion.

Looking back now, it should have been six hundred years ago when Nami Midori met Feng again and obtained a method of enhancement from him, which led to her secluded cultivation. Over the years, her power had grown increasingly formidable, causing the aura deep within the Lost Forest to become ever more terrifying.

While he wholeheartedly believed this was the answer, with Nami Midori’s continued narration, Angel realized that his speculation seemed to have deviated.

”Mr. Feng brought me hope,” Nami Midori paused for a few seconds, her tone suddenly becoming more somber, ”but this hope was not what I imagined.”

Angel: ”What’s different?”

Nami Midori: ”I told Mr. Feng about my bottleneck—do you know what his response was?”

Angel shook his head.

Nami Midori’s gaze was complex, her thoughts swirling, memories rewinding incessantly, the present slowly overlapping with the past, as if time had returned to that day—

Faced with Nami Midori’s eagerness, Feng soothingly smiled and said, ”I’m not an Elemental Creature, nor an Elemental Wizard; I actually know little about the breakthroughs of Elemental Creatures.”

Upon hearing this, Nami Midori’s eyes immediately dimmed. Having eagerly awaited Feng, she thought he could guide her towards the right path and past her current bottleneck as he had during their first meeting. But now it seemed this path was also blocked.

While Nami Midori was disheartened, Feng suddenly shifted his tone: ”However, while I may not know how an Elemental Creature can break through their bottleneck, I know how you can.”

Nami Midori, who was feeling down, suddenly had her eyes light up at Feng’s words.

Nami Midori looked expectantly at Feng, hoping to hear the answer from him.

At that moment, Feng mysteriously smiled, looked up at the starlit sky that night, and asked, ”Do you believe in the inevitable existence of all things in this world?”

Nami Midori didn’t understand what Feng meant, wondering why he suddenly veered onto this topic.

”Everything in this world, whether it be you, me, the stars, or the Void, is secretly controlled by a pair of fateful hands,” Feng said after a moment of silence. ”Do you believe that?”

Nami Midori instinctively shook her head, wanting to tell Feng that she didn’t know the answer either.

However, Feng seemed to have misunderstood Nami Midori’s response, as his voice suddenly rose: ”You don’t believe? Good, because neither do I.”

”My previous talk about fate is just rhetoric that some Prophet Wizards love to spout. They like to elevate everything to the height of supreme truth to showcase their omniscience and omnipotence. This, in itself, is a manifestation of ignorance.”

”However, while I don’t believe fate can transcend truth, fate itself does exist; it can be deciphered if one has the right methods.”

”Like I told you before, my journey to the Tidal World was a Chapter written by that book.”

”And now, I want to tell you that the opportunity for your breakthrough is also recorded in the Chapter of fate.”

Nami Midori had the closest relationship with Feng, so she knew about the power of ’that book’, yet she still didn’t understand: ”Why would my breakthrough opportunity appear in the Chapter of fate?”

Feng: ”Three thousand years ago, when I came to the Tidal World and met you, the Chapter of fate began to be written. According to the Prophet Wizards, your emergence was inevitable.”

Nami Midori: ”What does the Chapter of fate say about my breakthrough opportunity?”

Feng looked deeply at Nami Midori, slowly uttering a single word: ”Wait.”

...

Wait?

After hearing Nami Midori’s account, Angel still did not understand what Feng meant by wait. However, more than unveiling this answer, he was more concerned about the ’book’ Feng mentioned.

Angel had heard about ’that book’ more than once, and he really wanted to know what it was.

He had asked Gentle Breeze Uranos about it and also Frost Iser, but neither could provide a definitive answer.

Angel’s own speculations changed over time, from initially guessing that the book was just a fortune-teller’s allegory for fate, to later wondering if the book truly existed. Yet he never reached a conclusion.

The renewed mention by Nami Midori stirred Angel’s curiosity about the book once more, a curiosity that already surpassed the so-called opportunity.

Unable to contain himself, Angel asked, ”What exactly is that book?”

Unlike Gentle Breeze and Frost, Nami Midori offered a relatively specific answer.

”The book Mr. Feng mentioned is called the Book of Kael.”

Angel whispered to himself, ”The Book of Kael? A specific name... could it be a Mysterious Object?”

Nami Midori had also heard about the concept of a Mysterious Object from Feng and shook her head, ”I don’t know if it is a Mysterious Object; Mr. Feng didn’t say.”

Angel: ”Do you know what function the Book of Kael serves?”

Nami Midori: ”Mr. Feng didn’t specify, but it seems to be related to writing fate. Because Mr. Feng once mentioned that the Book of Kael is also known as the book that writes fate.”

Writing fate.

Angel furrowed his brows; the concept of ’writing fate’ made him uncomfortable, as if destined to become ensnared, with no control over his fate.

Putting aside his personal feelings, Angel believed that the ability to ’write fate’ was something that even Legendary Level Prophet Wizards couldn’t achieve. Higher-tier Miracle Wizards perhaps could, but Angel knew nothing about the miracle tier and didn’t even know if Prophet Wizards existed within it.

If it wasn’t wielded by Prophet Wizards, the ability to ’write fate’ couldn’t be achieved by ordinary alchemical objects. Therefore, if the Book of Kael had a tangible form, and its capabilities were truly as formidable as claimed, it was likely a Mysterious Object.

”Do you know any other information about the Book of Kael?” Angel asked again.

Nami Midori’s vertical pupils quietly observed Angel, remaining silent for a long moment before saying, ”You seem quite interested in the Book of Kael?”

Angel: ”Because the feeling of having fate manipulated by some object is unpleasant.”

Nami Midori was silent for a moment: ”... Mr. Feng was also very secretive about the Book of Kael and rarely mentioned it, so my understanding is limited. However, I remember Mr. Feng mentioned a piece of information that indicates the strength of the Book of Kael.”

”He said that the Book of Kael and Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror belong to the same rank of items. However, I’m not sure what Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror is, so I cannot judge the level the Book of Kael has reached.”

Once Nami Midori finished speaking, Angel was taken aback.

Nami Midori did not know what Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror was, but Angel had heard of it.

When Angel first went to the Black Castle, Isabel’s lingering soul had returned, and he learned about Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror from her.

According to Isabel, Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror is a mysterious object. Once activated, it can communicate with people from random worlds, and even make trades with them. The other world might be many dimensions away from the Wizards’ Realm, it could be a world that transcends essence, or it might not even exist here at all.

Isabel once had the fortune to use it; the other side of the mirror revealed an alien clan called the ”Mist Species,” from whom Isabel obtained the ”Secret Soul Murmurs,” which she then taught to Angel.

The reason Angel remembered Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror so well was that, according to its description, it could transcend our universe, go beyond dimensions, and interact with creatures from another universe.

This caused Angel to wonder, could Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror connect with creatures from Earth?

Leaving these unrelated disturbances aside for the moment, according to Isabel, Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror is of an extremely high grade, even in the Origin World, it is among the most elite of mysterious objects.

If the Book of Kael and Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror are of the same tier, then it’s almost certain now that the Book of Kael is a mysterious object, and one of the most elite at that.

Given the illogical and unreasonable capabilities of mysterious objects, it might indeed be able to script fate, arranging for the people of the future hundreds or even thousands of years in advance with absolute clarity.

Angel suspected... no, he was even certain that he must have been arranged by the Book of Kael.

Moreover, from the Abyss to the Tidal World.

But why him? And, would this arrangement have further developments, something beyond the Tidal World?

Angel’s mind kept thinking, unresolved mysteries finally settled one by one. Yet, as the answers to these questions emerged, even more questions arose.

But at this moment, no matter what, the truth couldn’t be obtained; Angel could only quell his thoughts, putting them aside for now.

”I understand.” Angel didn’t voice his thoughts but instead calmly thanked Nami Midori. Then, he steered the conversation back on track.

”Why did Mr. Feng say the breakthrough opportunity was—waiting?” Angel asked with confusion.

Nami Midori could see that when it mentioned ’Augustine’s Twinborn Mirror,’ Angel’s thoughts were deeply stirred, and he seemed to have gained something. However, since Angel deliberately skipped over this matter, Nami Midori didn’t inquire further.

”The so-called waiting is the answer written by fate.” Nami Midori’s tone became somewhat somber: ”And this answer is to be fulfilled in the future.”

”The future?”

”Six hundred years ago, it was the future. However, now, it is the present,” Nami Midori said, as his vertical pupil faintly flickered, raising his head, his gaze fixed on Angel.

Angel was not foolish. From Nami Midori’s tone and his gaze, he had already guessed some answers. However, this answer seemed bizarre to him.

”Are you saying, waiting... for me?”

Nami Midori said indifferently: ”According to Mr. Feng, my opportunity lies in the future. When the person who follows in his footsteps appears in the Tidal World and produces the magical key, that human is my breakthrough opportunity.”

”I am your breakthrough opportunity? How did I become a breakthrough opportunity?” Angel looked bewildered, puzzled over this prophecy, as he himself had not even made a breakthrough; how could he help Nami Midori breakthrough?

Nami Midori ignored Angel’s puzzlement, instead asking, ”So, do you have the magical key?”

Angel hesitated for a moment, then created an illusion before him, transforming into the appearance of the magical key with intricate patterns from Ogenley’s work.

Nami Midori took a glance and nodded, ”Indeed, it is the magical key. It appears you are the prophesied person Mr. Feng spoke of.”

”Even though that’s the case, how did I become a breakthrough opportunity?” Angel didn’t doubt that he was part of it; what puzzled him was why Feng would say he was Nami Midori’s breakthrough opportunity.

”It might not necessarily be you, but according to Mr. Feng, it is certainly related to you.”

Angel was stunned. It might not necessarily be him but related to him? Sanders is also related to him, so maybe Sanders guiding Nami Midori’s breakthrough also fulfills the prophecy.

If that’s really the case, in the future, Barbarian Cave moving into the Tidal World, and the Wizards of Barbarian Cave guiding Nami Midori’s promotion, could also work, right?

With this in mind, Angel felt a bit more at ease. If he were to guide Nami Midori’s advancement, he could only guide thin air. Replacing others made more sense; after all, Angel personally was lacking, but standing behind him was Barbarian Cave’s colossal presence!

However, even considering this, Angel still felt something was off.

Everything felt strangely familiar to him.

”May I ask a presumptuous question, what is your current level of strength, Sir Nami Midori? And what level do you aim to break through to?”

Nami Midori did not hesitate and directly said: ”According to the division of strength in the Wizards’ Realm, I am now at the peak of Third Level True Knowledge. To break through, naturally, is to reach the Legendary Level.”

Angel: ”...”

No wonder it felt so familiar.

Back then, Master Ye seemed like this too... However, Master Ye had considerable foundation and could break through anytime, only needing to fulfill Feng’s promise, waiting for Angel to arrive at this point in time, he broke through himself. While Nami Midori still seemed to be in a state of confusion.

Nevertheless, this situation was very familiar, marked by Feng’s style of arrangement.

But... Nami Midori wants to break through to a legend, who can he find for guidance?!

Barbarian Cave doesn’t have a Legendary Wizard at the moment either!

Angel felt like crying without tears; the previously loosened thread tightened once again due to Nami Midori’s words.

However, Angel turned back to think about it, the prophecy didn’t say Nami Midori necessarily needed guidance, maybe things could fall into place naturally?

As complicated thoughts were growing in Angel’s mind, Nami Midori’s voice came again:

”However, I am very reluctant.”

”When I learned from Mr. Feng that the opportunity lies in waiting for a person from the future, I didn’t want this answer at all. I don’t want my future to be in someone else’s hands.”

”I want to rely on my own ability to break through the bottleneck. So, after Mr. Feng left, I began my closed cultivation.”

”But six hundred years have passed, and still, I have not broken through.”

”It seems that the Chapter of fate has already determined the outcome, and I can only wait for the so-called opportunity.”
