Beyond Chaos – A DiceRPG

“Mik, peas, mummy, mik peas,” Virot called, holding up her cup, rubbing her eye with the back of her knuckles.

“You! You are so well behaved, my daughter!” Adam declared, pouring the milk into her cup, then peppering her face all over with his adoration, as the girl continued to rub her eye with the back of her fingers, yawning lightly, but soon the milk forced away her yawn, the girl placing down the wooden cup roughly, letting out a soft sigh. “Why are you acting like you just drank some wine, huh?”

“Wine,” the girl called, holding up her cup once more.

“You can have some milkwine, for it’s just milk, and if you whine, it’s milkwine.”

“Mikwine,” the tiny girl agreed, drinking her milk lightly this time.

Adam smiled, for his daughter, she was almost four years old now, and though she did babble and talk so well, she still bullied him by only speaking lightly with him. His eyes fell towards Lanarot, whose hair fell beyond her shoulders, and the girl was so tall now, taller than any of the other children, save for the teens. She was always a little taller, and she spoke so well, and she led them so well, this troublesome sister of his.

Adam’s eyes then fell upon him.

He was a tall man, and no longer was he thickly built as though he had eaten bread all his life, though his forearms remained large. He was no longer clean shaven, either. He was tall, lean, and his beard was slightly fuzzy, but his arms were now bulging with muscles, his shoulders also filled out his shirt in a different way.

‘What the hell happened to Bam?’ Adam thought, realising he hadn’t seen him for quite some time, assuming he had been working closely with the other business members.

Even Pam was side eyeing her father, who had been so busy, and seeing the way he was now, he seemed almost a stranger, not that even she would say such a thing, for though she bullied him well, that was a little too much even for her.

As evening came to them, a particular troublemaker arrived, but it was the first day of duskval, and with the chill that was brought with it, the young woman waved a hand towards the children, though turned, for there was work to do, and she was an Elder now. Adam stood. The pair made their way along the outer wall of the Front Iyr. Silence accompanied them for a long way, long as the shadows cast by the setting sun.

“What do you plan to do this month?” Jaygak mused.

“Well…” Adam began, considering her words. “My son had a genius idea about some rings to assist with work, and so I’m working on those for now, but then I’ll probably continue to work all month long.”

Jaygak slowly nodded her head, turning to face him for a moment. “Adam…”

“Elder…”

Jaygak smiled, seeing how the half elf had matured. “Should there come a time where we, of the Iyr, would like to send warriors to distant lands to deal with various matters, of offence, defence, would you be willing to go?”

“Sure?” Adam shrugged.

“What of the warriors of the business?”

“Hmm, well…” Adam mused for a long moment, eyeing up the Elder. “You are no longer an Executive, so you have to pay them appropriately?”

Jaygak smiled, bowing her head, and she fell into thought once more, her eyes falling upon the purple sky, noting the clouds floating their way across the world.

“Jaygak.”

“Elder Jaygak.”

“I’m talking to Jaygak right now,” Adam replied, holding the woman’s eyes, and she held his gaze for a long moment, before nodding. “If something ends up happening to me…”

“Why do you always talk about that sort of thing?” Jaygak replied. “More importantly, if you’re not going to address me by Elder, then you should already know my answer, as Jaygak. My answer as Elder Jaygak is not much different.”

A smile slowly drew on his lips.

“As Elder Jaygak, I am obliged to remind you, you should continue to make those magical steeds you have been working on, and you should also make yourself a magical chariot, or carriage, or cart, whatever you wish, for it should assist you on your journey.”

“Right, I probably should.”

“The Iyr will provide the gold for such items, and we would like every third of such item.”

“Oh?” Adam reached up to his chin, scratching it lightly.

“Consider it payment for when you may not receive a reward.”

“Well, I mean, I think that I could probably make more than triple the price for such items, but I suppose if the Iyr is so poor these days, what can I do?”

Jaygak slowly side eyed the half elf, shaking her head lightly. “You will get yourself into trouble, speaking of such a way of the Iyr, especially in front of an Elder.”

“As expected.” Adam chuckled. “I’ll figure out what kind of animal the Enchanter should enchant upon the wooden statues.”

“A warhorse is best.”

“A warhorse?” Adam thought about it for a moment. He supposed she was right, for it was swift, tough, strong, and it was why many Oathsworn called upon their steed like that. He, too, had Zeus, and he often took the form of a warhorse these days.

“Is there anything else you wanted to talk about?”

“Not this time,” Jaygak admitted, though in a way that suggested there was more upon her mind, but she would need to deal with that another time.

Adam returned back to the estate, along with Jaygak, for the twins rushed towards her, followed by Virot and Damrot, while the half elf approached his brother.

“Any chance you can make a bunch of wooden horses for me?”

“How many?”

Adam inhaled deeply, tilting his head slightly, for how many was a good number? “At least eighteen, probably thirty though?”

“Okay.”

Then Adam turned his head, and he saw Jaygak within his vision. Although he did need to enchant some rings, wasn’t there something more important than that?

‘If I do one every month, wouldn’t we have…’ Adam thought about how many he had already done so. “Elder Jaygak, we need to talk.”

“Okay,” Jaygak replied, and with that, she left again, much to the children’s dismay, each of them booing their father.

“Boo!” Virot declared, causing Jirot to look at her, blinking at her little sister.

‘Oh! I need to make sure Virot is a good girl to daddy!’ Jirot reached up to her forehead, rubbing it lightly. She turned to her mother, her eyes full of guilty. “Oops.”

“Oops!” Virot declared.
