Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Chapter 2087 Heavens Faith Sect, Past of the Small World (5)

Finding the entire situation far too simple, Xuan Hao couldnʼt help looking around himself to make sure no one had seen him silently pocket the heavenly treasure. Discovering that his worries of being discovered was for nothing, as the senior in charge of the spiritual herb garden and the one who had led him and the others there had already left, while the other people of a similar rank as him were all busy working hard to fix the broken spiritual herb garden. None of them had the time to spare to pay him or others any attention.

Maybe it was because they wanted to leave a good impression on the seniors who had already left or maybe it was because they feared getting punished if they did a bad job and took too long to finish repairing the spiritual herb garden. No matter what it was, it allowed him to take away the heavenly treasure hidden below ground without encountering any problems along the way as he once again blended in with everyone around him and put on the image of a hardworking disciple.

Of course, because of his encounter with a heavenly treasure, he spent most of his time searching below ground for other heavenly treasures. Unfortunately, even after half an hour passed and the spiritual herb garden was fully repaired, he didnʼt find a second heavenly treasure that would be useful for improving his internal world and thus furthering his own progress towards the Late Stage of the Land Creation Realm.

Still… If this kind of heavenly treasure could be found every time he entered the twenty seventh floor of the ascension realm tower, he would have a rather simple way to get his hands on more in the future, as he just needed to sneak into the Heavens Faith Sect and reach the spiritual herb garden to get his hands on one. The only real obstacle being the fact that it wouldnʼt be that easy to sneak inside the spiritual herb garden and his entry this time around could be considered a lucky coincidence. After all, to enter the holy sanctum of the Heavens Faith Sect required the identity of a holy light disciple, something that was impossible for him to falsify.

Forcing his way in was an option, but it would undoubtedly not be something he would be capable of accomplishing before reaching the Star Creation Realm, as the god of the Heavens Faith Sect was clearly an entity at that realm. Meaning future visits before reaching that realm would always require him to first sneak inside and find a weakness to take advantage of when dealing with the god of the Heavens Faith Sect, a weakness that he had still not managed to find even as he had silently used his divine sense to examine the holy sanctum during the manual labor of repairing the spiritual herb garden.

The only thing of note that he had managed to learn from the historical records building located next to the spiritual herb garden, was the fact that the recordings of the Heavens Faith Sect recorded a conversation that had taken place between the heavenly god at the core of the sect and the leader of the sect at the time.

Although most of the information within that recorded conversation was useless to Xuan Hao, as it related to the early development of the Heavens Faith Sect before it had reached its current dominant position within the small world, there was one thing of interest related to a section where the sect leader had referred to the heavenly god of the Faith Sect as a god and that was the fact that the god in question had directly corrected him and referred to himself as a demigod, not a true god.

But even with this clear mention of him not being a true god and instead a demigod, the one who had recorded this sentence from the heavenly god clearly didnʼt believe it, something that was clear in the added notations next to the sentence that praised the god for it being humble and attempting to lower himself to the level of a demigod to show how he was still close to them.

Even the sect leader at the time didnʼt seem to take this seriously and believed that the heavenly god was a true god, a belief that had been carried on to the present, as the lifespan of their god exceeded that of Celestial Immortal and Celestial Lord.

But… For Xuan Hao who wasnʼt a diehard believer of the heavenly god, he naturally didnʼt attribute the long lifespan of the heavenly god with him being a true god, but instead attributed the long lifespan with something related to the path of faith cultivation that allowed the other party to live far longer than cultivator of a similar level.

As for the actual strength of this heavenly god, he concluded that his initial guess of it being at the Star Creation Realm wasnʼt wrong. Meaning to complete the twenty seventh floors challenge, he would have to take down a demigod comparable to a Star Creation Realm cultivator, something that was clearly impossible with strength at the Land Creation Realm.

This was also his main reason for believing there was some kind of weakness that he would be able to take advantage of to deal with this overpowered enemy… And looking through the historical records of the Heavens Faith Sect along with some rudimentary knowledge he had on faith cultivation, he did find a path to successfully clearing the twenty seventh floor of the tower.

Problem was that the path in question wasnʼt the most sophisticated and would undoubtedly be noticed almost immediately. Meaning there was a close to zero percent chance of success.

As for what this path entailed? It was rather simple, taking into account historical records of the small world and what little he knew about faith cultivation from outside the ascension realm tower, he understood that before a god reached the level of a true god and stopped being a demigod, they were entirely reliant on their believers for their continued existence.

If these believers disappeared or died, they would suffer and lose their strength in turn.

Problem with this path was that while a small number of believers dying or mysteriously disappearing wouldnʼt attract much attention, if he started purging the small world, it would almost certainly end up drawing the attention of the demigod of the Heavens Faith Sect. Not to mention, he didnʼt exactly have the time needed to conduct such a large-scale operation that spanned the entire small world. Only having a little over five hours left before the soul he had forcibly kept suspended perished and alerted the demigod about his death.

So… he would have to look for other solutions to this problem of how to kill a demigod with his current strength with the only real hint at another solution being an ancient battle that had once ravaged the small world when the Heavens Faith Sect wasnʼt the only religion present within the small world.

According to ancient records, the battle back then had been brutal to the point where the earth shattered and heavens wept with countless people perishing as the gods or rather demigods of the different religions engaged in a bloody battle that lasted hundreds of years before the demigod of the Heavens Faith Sect ultimately ended up victorious.

The obviously embellished descriptions of how the heavenly god had seemingly one handedly fought the demigods of the other religions on his own and ultimately ended up victories all on his own aside, it was clear from that this ancient battle had left lasting wounds on the demigod of the Heavens Faith Sect. Injuries that hadnʼt healed even now, as a few descriptions of sentences left behind by the heavenly god back then had made it clear that his current meditation within the Heavens Faith Sect was for him to recover from the battle.

Injuries grievous enough that he hadnʼt moved for a period of time far beyond even the lifespan of someone in the Celestial Lord Realm made it clear that whatever injuries he had suffered were terrifying and undoubtedly related to the soul, as only this kind of injury could take that long to recover.

After all, though physical wounds could be bad, with the strength of a demigod, it would be entirely possible to reforge his entire body several times over even if he threw the entire thing away several times during his long seclusion to recover from the ancient battle.

In other words, the opportunity for him to kill this demigod far above himself in terms of strength likely pertained him finding out more about this ancient injury and more importantly finding a way to exploit this injury to kill the demigod.

Problem was… Though he now had a clear target for further investigation, it wasnʼt exactly simple for him to get close enough to the heavenly god to use his divine sense and probe the other party up close. Not to mention, even if he could do that, he would certainly get noticed the second his divine sense touched the other party…
