Chapter 1441: Chapter 521: Once Promised to Be Among the World’s Best (Part 3)

The target schools list for Procter & Gamble’s campus recruitment didn’t include Yan City University of Science and Technology, and for the position Shen Yuyan applied to, the basic requirement was graduation from a 985 university.

Yan City University of Science and Technology, an ordinary one-tier institution, essentially had no chance.

Shen Yuyan was first internally recommended by a senior, then directly took her resume to the Imperial City to attend a university’s presentation and compete alongside others.

Relying on her outstanding interview performance and foreign language skills, she broke into Procter & Gamble.

Qiu Sirou, a management trainee from Zhongshan University, was responsible for the Yan City market department’s MT project, while Shen Yuyan supported this project as HR.

It was through this connection that the two got acquainted and became familiar with each other.

Shen Yuyan worked in basic recruitment at the Yan City branch and was recognized by senior leaders for her exceptional performance.

To compensate for her educational background, she also obtained SHRM (International Human Resource Manager) and CFA Level I (Chartered Financial Analyst) certifications.

More than two years ago, as Shen Yuyan was about to resign to start her own business.

The senior leader had talked to her several times, wanting her to stay, promising that within a year she would be transferred to the Shanghai headquarters to oversee the high-potential talent development plan.

Yet she resolutely chose to start her own business, wanting to gamble on the chance for financial freedom.

Qiu Sirou and Shen Yuyan kept in touch, naturally aware that Youjie Housekeeping’s progress wasn’t smooth.

...

After dinner, the two crossed the road and strolled along the Bund.

The night wind from the Huangpu River was slightly cool, with bustling crowds around, and laughter and chatter everywhere.

”Yuyan,” Qiu Sirou looked at Shen Yuyan’s delicate profile, softly saying, ”Actually, I’ve always felt that staying at Procter & Gamble is a better choice. With your talent and emotional intelligence, if you could return to a big platform like Procter & Gamble, you would surely have greater opportunities for development.”

Procter & Gamble is a giant in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, with many women in executive positions and a well-structured promotion system. Although internal competition is fierce, for someone like Shen Yuyan, it would be like a fish in water.

”There’s no standard answer in life, Sirou.” Shen Yuyan put down her knife and fork, and after a moment of silence, said, ”I just wasn’t willing to accept it. I wanted to take a gamble.”

From childhood to adulthood, she had always been the most dazzling and noticeable presence.

However, upon entering society and seeing herself gradually swallowed by ordinariness, she was unwilling to accept it, nor would she allow herself to be submerged by the mundane currents.

This ambitious drive pushed her to venture forth, trading her youth for a chance at a higher perspective.

Perhaps, one day in the future, she could also become an admired female powerhouse like her idols.

”Rumble——” A low, resonant engine roar interrupted their thoughts.

Stopping in their tracks, they turned to look.

In the night, a matte gray Lamborghini sped past, its iconic taillights leaving a dazzling trail in the darkness.

Passersby paused, some taking pictures, some discussing, the entire street instantly lit up with excitement because of this car.

”Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63, a multimillion-dollar supercar...” Qiu Sirou couldn’t help but express, ”Shanghai has no shortage of wealthy people. If I had that much money, I would directly buy a house outright, haha.”

Her boyfriend was a car enthusiast, with various car models filling their rented room, with this limited edition Lamborghini being his favorite, so she was all too familiar with it.

Watching the dazzling gray silhouette disappear completely, Shen Yuyan slowly retracted her gaze, feeling thoughtful.

”So beautiful!” Qiu Sirou looked up at the scene ahead and sincerely admired.

Following her gaze, Shen Yuyan looked ahead. The towering buildings of Lujiazui at night, with neon lights reflecting on the river surface, were like an endless light show.

Each skyscraper resembled a giant crystal, shining brightly in the darkness.

”It is indeed beautiful.” Shen Yuyan quietly echoed, then leaned against the railing, letting the river breeze blow through her long hair.

Qiu Sirou pursed her lips, as if lost in memory, murmured, ”The scenery here is completely different from Yan City, which is why I chose to stay.”

She was a native of Yan City, worked there for two years after graduating, and later, by chance, was transferred to the Shanghai headquarters.

Now, she was deeply enamored with this vast, grand metropolis.

Drinking coffee, carrying CHANEL, dining Fine, shopping at Galeries Lafayette...

Fantasizing about one day being able to own a home here, staying forever.

”Just staying here isn’t enough.” Shen Yuyan suddenly spoke.

”What do you mean?” Qiu Sirou looked at her in confusion.

Shen Yuyan was silent for a moment, her slender fingers pointed towards those towering skyscrapers ahead, ”Sirou, at this very moment, behind those glass curtain walls of the skyscrapers, there are people in suits, calmly discussing matters that could alter the course of society.

Finance, investment, technology, policy...

They stand above the clouds, looking down with interest at the Huangpu River, and people like us who seem insignificant.”

She spread her arms wide, the night wind filling her sleeves, her voice tinged with an inescapable longing: ”Know that a young man’s ambition, once promised to be the first in the world.”

In the distance, Global Financial Center’s laser beam pierced the night sky, drawing an eye-catching trajectory among the clouds.

”Have you ever imagined yourself standing atop the skyscrapers one day, to see the true face of this world?”

”Have you ever dreamed of becoming the one who controls the situation and leads the trends?”

Her voice almost being blown away by the river wind, yet the light in her eyes was brighter than the lights on the other side.

Qiu Sirou stared at her, shocked by the intense infectiousness, unable to respond for a moment.
