“Squeak—” The gate was pulled open.

Humming a tune, Xu Qing walked in.

It was already approaching 8 o’clock in the evening.

The living room was very dim.

She automatically changed into slippers and hung her bag on the rack.

She casually turned on the light.

Xu Qing, looking down at her phone, shuffled into the living room in her slippers.

Just as she was about to lie down on the soft sofa, she suddenly let out a “Ah!”

“Dead Yanyan! What are you doing? Sitting here disheveled in the dark, late at night, you scared me to death!”

Xu Qing patted her little chest and slapped her bestie’s leg heavily.

She thought she was trying to scare her on purpose.

They had known each other for so many years, and it wasn’t the first time the other had done this since Xu Qing had always been faint-hearted since childhood.

“Qingqing.” Shen Yuyan turned her head to the side, her voice low and muffled, “You’re back.”

Xu Qing blinked, leaned in, took a deep sniff, and asked with a frown, “Have you been drinking? Was there some kind of dinner?”

She knew that her bestie didn’t like to drink, but after starting her own business, social engagements were unavoidable, so she would occasionally drink too much.

As she spoke, Xu Qing went to the water dispenser and poured Shen Yuyan a cup of warm water.

Right after that, Xu Qing’s gaze stalled, and she saw an empty sparkling wine bottle in the trash can by the table.

“Qingqing, I regret it so much.” Shen Yuyan’s body leaned to the right, resting directly on her best friend’s shoulder, her eyes staring blankly ahead.

Seeing her, Xu Qing opened her mouth, originally wanting to ask what she regretted, but she quickly realized.

“Is it about Tang Song’s investment?”

“Yeah, I feel terrible, but I don’t know what to do.” Shen Yuyan hugged her bestie’s shoulders and buried her head in her neck.

This afternoon she just couldn’t focus on going to work and sat at home in a daze for hours.

She didn’t even eat dinner, just hitting an empty stomach with a whole bottle of 15-degree sparkling wine.

But this still failed to ease the trouble and pain in her heart.

Xu Qing patted her bestie’s head, comforting her, “In my opinion, you’re just overthinking things. Youjie Housekeeping has also secured an angel round of 7 million yuan, you should be satisfied. Even if Win-win Technology has some ulterior motives, as investors, they hope the company can grow too. The cooperation agreement can surely continue to be discussed, so don’t worry too much.”

She was just naturally optimistic and did not like to dwell on troubling matters, and she was neither foolish nor lacking in intelligence or emotional intelligence.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been in legal work for three years and also have written a quite profitable novel on the side.

Things Shen Yuyan was worried about, she had already considered.

In her eyes, her bestie had also achieved her goals, and her net worth had skyrocketed.

Her current 26% stake in Youjie Housekeeping was worth 5 million yuan.

Having invested a couple of hundred thousand yuan in savings for over two years in the startup, this return was a huge stroke of luck.

“Hoo—” Shen Yuyan shook her head while leaning on Xu Qing’s shoulder and said, “Qingqing, you don’t understand, it’s different, completely different, Tang Song…”

She paused, exhaled a breath heavy with the scent of alcohol, and sprayed it on Xu Qing’s ear.

She continued, “Win-win Technology made a profit of 14 million yuan last year, and although they have some patents and technology, they don’t have their own factory.

Their current valuation is 20 times the P/E ratio, which is almost 300 million RMB.

An external investment of 6 million yuan is actually a considerable burden for them.

Therefore, they are very concerned about this money and about Youjie Housekeeping.

I used to think it was a good thing, naturally, since we needed to rely on Win-win Technology’s app for promotions.

But now it seems, their intentions are not pure, it’s not going to be easy to get the money, and they will definitely make other moves in the future.

And Tang Song… and Tang Song…”

Shen Yuyan bit her lower lip hard, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Xu Qing instantly panicked, hastily wiped her cheek with her own clothes, “Don’t cry, Yanyan. You’re making me want to cry, what do I do?”

Having listened to her best friend’s narrative, she understood the other’s meaning.

Compared with Win-win Technology, Tang Song had control over a $150 million trust fund management.

Moreover, this company was a single-fund trust and did not raise funds from the public.

They both knew what that meant in terms of enormous potential.

After all, many listed companies didn’t have such large cash flows.

After soothing her for a good while, Xu Qing hugged her best friend, comforting her, “Yanyan, have you forgotten? After the financing is over, I will get 2% stock options. Even if it’s cashed in at a valuation of 30 million yuan, I can’t come up with 600,000. Didn’t you have high hopes for the future of short dramas? When the time comes, we’ll pool our money together, and we can split that part of the shareholding equally.”

“No.” Shen Yuyan shook her head vigorously, “That’s what you deserve, it’s also your future hope. When the time comes if you don’t have enough money, I can lend you.”

She had started out as a vice president at the firm when she became an entrepreneur, and now she was the general manager.

Since the company turned a profit, her salary had never been an issue for her own well-being.

Her current monthly salary was 25,000 yuan, and since she didn’t buy a car, a house, or travel, she had saved up a significant amount of money.

By the time Xu Qing’s stock options were cashed in, she should be able to gather that amount of money.

“Yanyan.” Xu Qing pursed her lips, her eyes turning red with emotion.

Subsequently, the best friends in the living room cried in each other’s arms.

As things developed, it turned out that Shen Yuyan began to comfort her to stop crying.

After the storm cleared.

The two sat in the living room, eating fruit and watching a variety show.

Having vented the accumulated emotions in her heart, Shen Yuyan felt much more relaxed.
