Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2441 The Aurora Cloud Gate

Davisʼs eyes flickered with a trace of uncertainty as he gazed at the white-robed elder.

He wasnʼt even able to lift a finger while he couldnʼt even tell if he was suppressed under pure pressure or his body refusing to move instinctively, knowing that if he made a wrong move that it could warrant him being blasted into smithereens without a dime of an effort from the other party.

As he saw the elder gaze at him with some interest, the elder produced a snaky smile.

”Considering the timing between the Zyrus Family Prefectureʼs incident and now, I could say that youʼre most likely Dead End.”

Davisʼs expression almost fell. He opened his mouth.

”What about Mo Tian?”

With the other party having struck a conversation with him, indicating no haste as well as hostility so far, Davis smiled and was finally able to move his muscles, his face moving towards the side as his eyes started looking for another exit of any kind.

The elder merely rubbed his white beard with some amusement on his face before he gestured with his hand.

”Well, the Ghost Tear Hall declared that Dead End was still alive according to one of the legacy artifacts after being bombarded with questions by major powers, so I suppose youʼre Dead End. Mo Tian couldnʼt have survived the ordeal if you were alive.”

”...”

Davis guessed that it had something to do with the status plate of the Ghost Tear Hall he held in his spatial ring. However, the Ghost Tear Hall making a public statement was completely out of his expectations. He thought that they were only revealing their rankings but not their secrets.

Did they want him, an Anarchic Divergent, to die?

Nonetheless, he wondered if the Ghost Tear Hall could detect his location. He felt that such functions werenʼt in the status plate unless he activated it to challenge someone to a Shadow Battle, and that battle was currently active.

Fortunately, it was Wolfhowl who challenged him and not the other way around.

But it still meant that the tracing function was there in the status plate, so he couldnʼt help but want to throw it away, but if anything, he felt that it was already too late as the Ghost Tear Hall could already be here at any moment.

Nonetheless, the problem at hand was this elder, his expression turning into a sneer as he waved his sleeve.

”Heh, wrong. Iʼm not Feng Chu as you guessed, but Iʼm not Mo Tian or Dead End either.”

That elder raised his brows but still possessed an amused smile on his face as he shrugged.

”Suit yourself. I have no hostile intent towards you as the Aurora Cloud Gate is supposed to be a safe haven for Divergents secretly. Whether you want to stay or leave is your choice, but if youʼre staying, you better follow our rules and not bring shame to the sect that I would give my life for.”

The elder reached out his hands as a record appeared in his hand.

”Here, this is the special handbook for Divergents. Due to your unique existence thatʼs scorned by the heavens, weʼll treat you with care but, at the same time, not let you dance above othersʼ heads unreasonably.”

Davis looked at the elder with some scrutiny before grabbing the handbook.

He opened the book and turned the pages, reading through it for some time before closing it. His expression remained normal throughout reading, indicating that the rules werenʼt that disadvantageous.

Besides, no matter how he thought about it, the rules for Divergents didnʼt change much.

For example, even the normal disciples were restricted from leaving and making trouble in other regions. The only time they could act was in self-defense or if they came across injustice and saw that it was resolved through negotiation or slaughter.

The sect didnʼt prohibit killing each other as long as they issued a life and death battle, so they were pretty clear on enmities and friendships.

But for a Divergent, they would have to have more reason on their side compared to normal disciples. In other words, the proof was essential for their deeds. For other disciples, just their words could serve as proof most of the time unless the situation dictated otherwise.

In other words, if Divergents wanted to make a move, they would have to get ironclad evidence for them to act. However, it was also said that they could act without evidence, but in that case, the sect wouldnʼt help them. This clause also applied to normal disciples, except they didnʼt need to have ironclad evidence.

It made him think that perhaps even forged evidence would serve its purpose, but most of it was just like Ellia said.

Divergents werenʼt necessarily treated worse or restricted unfairly. Sometimes, there were even extra benefits.

For example, if he did a righteous deed that was confirmed by the sect or completed the sectʼs mission, then he would receive double the contribution points. In this case, it was clearly rigged against the normal disciples.

However, if he did bad deeds, his contribution points would decrease by four times, considering the punishment in store. For normal disciples, it would only be two times.

Supposed he turned out to be a bad apple, the Blue Luan Immortal would lose a significant amount of contribution points that made it seem like fifty thousand immortal crystals that were gifted to him were nothing in front of it.

It could be said that she took an immense risk by inviting him into the Aurora Cloud Gate.

Davis couldnʼt help but chuckle.

He went ahead and inscribed a few words in Sky Word Language using his immortal soul force. Once they formed in mid-air, they were absorbed by the giant sword artifact, revealing a bright luster.

True Name: Davis Loret

True Origin: Grand Beginnings Continentʼs Forsaken Phoenix Realm

”...!”

That white-haired elder became shocked as his squinted eyes shot wide, his body beginning to tremble as though he had seen a legend.

”You... youʼre the one who can control heavenly lightning and heavenly flames at the same time... and even... even death energy...”

”Sigh...”

It wasnʼt Davis who sighed but Ellia, seemingly lowering her head and shaking ruefully.

”This wasnʼt made public yet, but oh well, here goes nothing.” She raised her hand and brought out a jade plate that looked similar to the Aurora Cloud Gateʼs true disciple badge.

However, on it were the words ʼSaintess Lunariaʼ, one that would cause the world to tremble in its presence.

”I command you in my masterʼs name... Saintess Lunariaʼs name to forget about this matter.”

”...!”

Hearing Saintess Lunariaʼs name and witnessing her identity badge, this old man turned reverential in an instant as though he was receiving a decree from the emperor, no, the empress. Moreover, it seemed like he became a young man in an instant, seemingly blushing as though he was personally graced by her majestyʼs presence, causing Davis to inwardly gawk at this sight.

Just now, this elder was extremely intimidating, but he instantly turned into a child.

It seemed like there were a fair number of suitors in the past for Saintess Lunaria. Otherwise, this shrewd and collected old man wouldnʼt turn into a young teenager who was still wet behind the ears in an instant.

However, Davis didnʼt expect Ellia to use her masterʼs name in this situation. Seems like she wasnʼt aversed to using what she could use. As expected of Myria. She had trained a fine disciple.

”Saintess Lunaria has taken a new disciple? Sigh, no one would dare to impersonate or use her eminenceʼs name. I suppose that you are indeed her disciple as no one knows what that grand existence is thinking, doing as she pleases. However, I believe that itʼll be for the betterment of the Aurora Cloud Gate as it has always been.”

The elder smiled lightly as he heaved a sigh of relief, ”Regardless, I, Aradiel Furiose, a Law Enforcement Elder of the Aurora Cloud Gate, welcome you two with open arms. I look forward to the day that your names are announced in the rankings so I can watch you grow up like I watched many Divergents grow up and leave the world.”

”...!”

Davis and Ellia became stunned at this shocking piece of information that was seemingly inserted out of nowhere.

”Of course, there were also many who chose to stay or failed to make their way up and turned evil. I hope you two donʼt-”

”So youʼve arrived.”

At this moment, a soft yet majestic female voice churned out from the huge sword, causing both Davis and the elder to flinch. The latter became shocked before he hurriedly bowed his head towards the artifact, his body bending ninety degrees.

”Junior Aradiel greets Guardian Saintess.”

”Mhm~” A voice of acknowledgment echoed, causing the elder to tremble.

”Davis Loret. Step into the portal, and you shall be led to my palace.”

”...?”

Davis unceremoniously looked around, noticing a spatial vortex behind him.

When did it appear? He didnʼt even notice even the slightest of spatial undulations, causing him to swallow his saliva. However, he recognized the aura of the spatial vortex as it was the same one that sent him flying towards this place.

Taking a deep breath, he swiped his hand to the side and took the status plate that appeared in mid-air.

Without even taking a look at it, he kept it inside his spatial ring and walked towards the spatial vortex, and Ellia similarly followed him. The elder was about to stop her from pure instinct, but knowing that she was Saintess Lunariaʼs personal disciple, he ultimately didnʼt stop her.
