Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 1778: Delivery Arrived

Davis let go of Lea Weissʼs hands and took a step forward, his body appearing to become ghostly spectral as he disappeared out of Lea Weissʼs gaze. Her eyes went wide as she couldnʼt find him momentarily, but then instinctively saw him appear right beside the person he pointed momentʼs later and elegantly spun around with a greyish-black scythe suddenly appearing in his hand.

The next moment, that personʼs head fell silently without anyone noticing, and before it could even make a ʼthudʼ sound on the floor, both the head and the body disappeared from existence, obviously taken into Davisʼs spatial ring.

ʼWhat terrifying assassination arts…!ʼ

Lea Weissʼs heart couldnʼt help but tremble.

She didnʼt know why Davis killed that person, but she could sense Peak-Level Law Rune Stage undulations lightly spread upon their death. It was so vague that if she hadnʼt looked at the scene, she wouldnʼt have been able to perceive it with her eyes, not to mention those remnant undulations that were released upon death were instantly suppressed by Davisʼs seamless soul force, which made his assassination arts seem more skillful.

She felt charmed, but the thing was, she never found despicable moves like this entrancing in her life as she looked down on people who didnʼt agree to a fair fight but stabbed from the shadows. However, her man appeared to know both, which made her feel complicated, both proud and a bit conflicted.

After all, she couldnʼt easily get rid of her five-thousand-year-old bias against Darkness Law cultivators who wreaked havoc in her Territory and other but fortunately, she personally knew Davis wasnʼt like them, using these powers wrongly, at least, she believed that it was the case until she could find evidence that it was different.

Besides, even Ancestor Cornelia, who had a wide overview and wise character, approved of Davis, so she was more assured of her decision to accept as her love.

Davis returned to Lea Weiss using the Waning Twilight Phantasm Steps.

Only then did he check who it was and couldnʼt help but be astonished.

ʼThis person has the insignia of the Deprived Hymn Abode...ʼ

Davis predicted the anarchy and chaos at this moment where many peopleʼs fate interwove, a place where many schemes were plotted and created a bubble where things got out of his hands, that is if he was weak. However, with him being becoming strong enough to kill Peak-Level Ninth Stage Powerhouses with his base cultivation alone, there was nothing for him to fear in this First Layer, so without much reservations like before, he used his ability to manipulate using Fallen Heaven and had a random person steal his killʼs loot, which is the Deprived Soulstir Emperorʼs spatial ring and his body.

It couldʼve been anyone, even some infamous assassin that was lying in wait to kill the Deprived Soulstir Emperor to take advantage of his plight and escape. However, it turned out to be one of the two Deprived Hymn Abodeʼs Ancestors, who then followed his manipulation of bringing that spatial ring to hide amidst the chaos, which was either this place or the Infernal Lightning Palaceʼs Infernal Mountain City, in a specific set of black robes that shouldʼve been nothing more than a hint of suggestion but was more closer to reality as he imagined and fueled.

However, Davis figured that this place would be implied as it wasnʼt the closest and also not the farthest to the Deprived Hymn Abode, making it optimal enough to hide underneath oneʼs foot. After all, this Ancestor seemed to have escaped from his own power, which made him a traitor, but not really, as that was what the wicked path cultivators did upon seeing an opportunity to make it big.

ʼAlthough I missed out on collecting the Deprived Soulstir Emperorʼs karmic sin, the loot will do…ʼ

He meant it when he said that Lea Weiss was more important. Even if he didnʼt get the loot, he wouldʼve been fine, but he could see that his manipulation over controlling the movements of people through Fallen Heaven had worked.

”Who was that?”

Lea Weissʼs voice echoed with curiosity, causing Davis to come out of his reverie.

”The one who carried Deprived Soulstir Emperorʼs body. Oh, I also gained his spatial ring as it seems like one of his Ancestors stole it and ran away. Lucky me…”

To his nonchalant voice, Lea Weiss shook her head in confusion.

”How- How did you-”

”… know that he was carrying Deprived Soulstir Emperorʼs body?”

Davis continued her question before he shot a secretive smile at her.

”Well, I could simply say that I marked him with my mystical arts but letʼs just say that it involves something that shouldnʼt be spoken about. It complicates things more than you could think...”

Lea Weiss pursed her lips before she nodded, seemingly having managed to suppress her curiosity.

”Alright.”

Investigating the secrets of others, including trump cards and treasures, was taboo, and Lea Weiss knew that all too well. Besides, she knew that she hadnʼt done anything to earn his boundless trust, so she wasnʼt discouraged at all but instead relaxed that he wasnʼt a total fool instead, although she also felt that she wouldʼve been happy to know his secrets as it would make her feel closer.

ʼWhat…?ʼ

Lea Weiss couldnʼt understand her own thoughts as it was all over the place.

She couldnʼt help but feel love was truly blinding her eyes, and her experience of watching many other women be ruined because of a silly promise from men in her long life flashed in her mind, but above all that, it still made her feel happier than before, making her want to know more about him.

It was a feeling that she couldnʼt describe properly, one that kept building up the more she saw his handsome face fill up her heart and soul.

On the other hand, Davis relaxed that she didnʼt pursue further.

As he returned his gaze back to his spatial ring, he felt that he was becoming more proficient in manipulating his victims and dancing to his tune when using Fallen Heaven. However, he also looked at the plethora of peak powerhouses who have gathered in secret.

Yang Hellflame Emperor…

Fiendish Yin Empress…

Myriad Poison Emperor…

Dark Ironroar Emperor and even a few others he wasnʼt aware of but still radiated an aura as powerful as them. They were all here, not in the ravaged Infernal Mountain City nor the empty Poison Rift Valley devoid of their powerhouses, but specifically here.

Clearly, the manipulation of fate would ultimately result in his death if he had been much weaker, and considering that killing and stealing loot from a peak wicked path powerhouse shouldnʼt have much of a change in fate as he was stronger, the resulting consequences were also lower, allowing him to walk free of consequences.

Davis was beginning to feel that he was getting the gist of how Fallen Heavensʼs karmic manipulation power worked now that he had used it enough times, but still, he knew he wasnʼt wise enough to be calculating all the ways of ʼtwisting fateʼ could screw him over. After all…

ʼPerhaps, this is how most of Fallen Heavenʼs previous hosts died, most of them succumbing to twisting fate that screwed them in the end...ʼ

Suddenly, a soft feeling took hold of his hand. He turned to look at Lea Weiss, watching her intensely look at him with those misty crimson eyes of hers as though she wanted a kiss. Due to their position on top of the mountains, they were also not in anyoneʼs gaze, so they naturally moved to kiss.

But suddenly, two figures flashed beside them, causing Lea Weiss to jerk away from him while he remained relatively unshaken but still possessed an awkward expression on his face as he turned to look at the two newcomers.

”Evelynn… Isabella… Whatʼs up?”

Lea Weiss instinctively let his hand go as she couldnʼt help but feel that she was doing something wrong, especially when viewed by his two powerful wives, the Hex Demoness and the Earth Dragon Queen.

Both of them seemed to be soul bodies, looking at them with sharp, narrowed eyes that struck a bit of shame and a heightened sense of anxiety into her heart.

Nevertheless, they cast their look at Davis.

”We were wondering whatʼs taking you so much time to kill a few mere wicked path hegemons, but now we could see what made you take so long...” Evelynn coldly uttered.

”Scoundrel, pervert, and a big deviant...” Isabella harrumphed with a fierce voice, ”Shirley even gifted you Zestria Domitian, but you couldnʼt keep your hands to yourself from touching her Sect Master?”

Lea Weiss turned to look at him once as soon as she heard about Zestria Domitian from Isabellaʼs mouth.

”Wait… I can explain…!”

Davis raised his hands as he looked at the three of them.

”Shut up! I was completely worried about you for nothing!~”

Isabella threw herself at him, embracing him while screaming at him, causing him to not be able to utter anything other than to blink.
