Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 1059 What Did I Just...

Davis looked at the Pestilent Dragonfly Dust Spawn become attracted to the High-Level Earth Grade Poison Essence, like a moth that was drawn to a light source. It used its cunning nature to ambush once again displayed in its actions and caused it to incapacitate it successfully.

It didnʼt absorb quickly but had in it its grasp.

However, Davis could see that it had yet to digest the previous Poison Essence, or perhaps both.

His eyes brightened!

ʼMaybe I wonʼt need to use the Mid-Level Sky Grade Poison Essence after all...ʼ

He became satisfied with the Pestilent Dragonfly Dust Spawnʼs progress but didnʼt count on it much as he knew that his selfish expectations might be arbitrarily betrayed by reality. He silently watched it play with the captured High-Level Earth Grade Poison Essence, seemingly torturing it while it seemed to be screeching in pain as a result.

An hour passed, but it still appeared to be digesting. Moreover, it didnʼt seem to be wary of him anymore. It didnʼt even try to escape, nor did it look around, afraid that he might attack him.

”Nadia, are you fine? Maintaining this darkness shroud in a huge area for a long period of time might really take a toll on you. Besides, youʼre using your powers ingeniously and skillfully to make me aware of the surroundings.”

”Are you not tired?”

Nadia shook her head as she remained clinging to his arm from the side, her eyes still gleaming with a golden hue, ”This is nothing, master. My King-Tier Magical Beast Core allows me to maintain this state for many days. Besides, my energy consumption would lessen when night falls. Itʼs sunset already, so thereʼs no need to worry about me, master.”

”King-Tier Magical Beast Core, huh...” Davis mused out loud before your expression became strange.

”I donʼt know if I should say this, but both your body and magical beast core would sell for about a million or more Peak-Level Spirit Stones...” Davis wryly chuckled, ”You have that much of a value in the cultivation resources market... especially in front of people who practice Darkness Laws.”

”They would probably do anything to obtain your magical beast core...”

”That is...” Nadia turned to look at him, her golden eyes staring at him, ”Is Master implying that I am too valuable, or is it a warning that if I do not do my duty properly, that I will be killed?”

Davisʼs expression became stiff.

Okay, how could she get both nuances wrong? Davis inwardly cried as he had underestimated how a magical beast would think when he only meant it as a joke.

However, he stared back at her with his soul-gazing sapphire eyes, ”What do you think I meant?”

Nadia stared at his eyes for a few seconds before she reluctantly avoided his gaze, ”You didnʼt mean both.”

”Then whyʼd you ask me something like that? I meant it as a joke, not as a threat.”

”But I need to know...” Nadiaʼs melodious voice became strained.

”Am I a valuable magical beast?”

Davis didnʼt even hesitate, ”You are-”

Nadia interrupted, ”I can see that master and the others are rapidly increasing their cultivation base, and perhaps, it would only be a matter of time before all you surpass me. At that time, will I become someone who is only valuable in terms of cultivation resources?”

”Will I be killed and sold If I outlive my usefulness due to my bloodline limitations?”

Davis had his mouth slightly agape. He didnʼt think that Nadia would carry such simple yet deep worries, the same as humans. His words had perhaps prompted to call out the hidden concern she had in her heart.

But he wasnʼt surprised as Nadia was sympathetic and possessed a high emotional quotient among magical beasts, even able to express herself in words, unlike other magical beasts who only knew to express through anger and violence.

However, she had a point. Due to her bloodline limitations, she would only be able to each the Peak-Level of King Beast Stage, which is the Eighth Stage for a magical beastʼs cultivation system. Reaching the Ninth Stage would become naturally impossible since the bloodline change she needed to achieve would be massive to mutate!

Davis knew that there were two ways she would mutate.

The first way is that she would need to use her King-Tier Bloodline as a stepping stone and mutate to the next stage. However, she would lose her King-Tier Bloodline at that point, but she still needed some kind of catalyst to fuel her mutation even then.

The second way is to acquire a heavenly resource like the Million Emerald Vines Calamityʼs nectar. This way, she would maintain her status as a King-Tier Magical Beast and mutate to the next stage.

Davis mused that the Million Emerald Vines Calamityʼs nectar would not have much effect on Nadia since she is already a High-Level or even a Peak-Level King Beast Stage Magical Beast in terms of prowess. If it were to be graded, she would be a Mid-Level Emperor Grade existence, which is similar to the treasure grade of Million Emerald Vines Calamityʼs nectar.

Logically, he could understand that she transcended the usefulness of the nectar. But he still might try giving her some. After all...

”Nadia,” Davis raised his hand and touched the back of her palm to placate, ”I give you my word that even if you outlive your usefulness, youʼre still mine. Anyone who tries to harm you would have to deal with my wrath.”

Nadia became visibly taken aback as her pupils dilated.

ʼIsnʼt that what master would say to his... mates?ʼ

Feeling strange, she inched closer, her warm body stuck to him. Her head propelled closer to his head while her pursed and rosy lips slightly opened agape. However, she looked towards the left and gazed at the Pestilent Dragonfly Dust Spawn.

”Master, itʼs moving...”

”Ah...?, Yes...” Davis instantly turned his head and saw that the Pestilent Dragonfly Dust Spawn was on the move again.

It tended to look for the exit for a while before giving up because it couldnʼt get out. Of course, it wasnʼt able to get out because Davis and Nadia always followed it around, so the powers they deployed also followed them around, always entrapping it in the center of the darkness enshrouding.

So no matter how it went around trying to find the exit, it would be unable to find it unless an external influence twisted their powers.

Davis possessed a stiff expression on his face as he followed it around with Nadia still holding him.

ʼWhat was that!? What was that just now!!!?ʼ

ʼWas I deluded into thinking that... she was going to kiss!!!?ʼ

At that moment, Davis became momentarily entranced by her transcending beauty and her rosy lips that he totally froze. It wasnʼt that he froze, but he refused to take any actions as he wanted to see what she would do, and as expected, she was just distracted, perhaps looking for the truth in his eyes or something.

ʼYes, that must be it...ʼ He became convinced.

On the other hand, Nadiaʼs lips kept quivering while her eyes were slightly wide in disbelief.

ʼWhat was I doing...?ʼ

ʼWhat did I just try to do a while ago!?ʼ

She couldnʼt believe that she just tried to place her lips on her master like how her Mistresses would do! She couldnʼt believe she tried to kiss a human, who was also her master, the person she swore to be of service!

What blasphemy!
