Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson

Leonard nearly tripped and stumbled to the ground upon hearing a gross accusation.

”That was a joke, right?” He cleared his throat. Someone like Eleanor had definitely investigated him. There was no way she wouldn’t know what his preference was.

Sure enough, Eleanor admitted almost immediately, but not without a twist.

”Wow, our Leon is indeed clever. You already know me so well.” She clasped her hands and took advantage of him.

”Do you even have any shame?”

”What is shame? Can they affect a blind person?”

”I-uhh—”

Leonard was rendered speechless again.

”Do you have any other strategy besides using blindness as your weapon?” He asked in a somewhat disgruntled tone.

”I do, but this one works so well. Why would I swap it?” Eleanor shrugged.

”People shouldn’t be too flashy. It’s better to keep their cards hidden to prevent your opponent from knowing what else you got.”

People shouldn’t be too flashy?

Then why in the world would you make the Crown Prince push your wheelchair?

As if knowing what was on his mind, Eleanor suddenly giggled. ”Are you wondering why I’m having you push my wheelchair?”

’I hate dealing with strategists.’ Leonard was mentally exhausted trying to deal with Eleanor.

Please give me another Darius or Wesley.

Those two were so much easier to deal with than Eleanor.

While Leonard remained silent, Eleanor continued her monologue. ”I want people to know that I’m on your side.”

”Why?” Leonard couldn’t comprehend her logic.

”I’ve already said it from the start. I want you. It’s just that you refused to believe me.”

”How can I believe it when you, the great strategist, have so many better options to choose from?”

”You’re right... a strategist’s words can never be blindly trusted.”

Eleanor smiled briefly and placed her hand on the wheel to stop it from moving.

Leonard also reacted promptly and stopped pushing the wheelchair, unsure of what she planned to do.

”Being paranoid and suspicious in your position is the wise choice. I’m glad to see you differ from the rumors.” She smiled gently.

Just when Leonard thought she was taking the gentle route, he was quickly caught off guard.

”But then again, the Leon I know is indeed such a person. I have verified that there are no external factors, so how can a person change this drastically? Could it be that you’re someone else or under control by someone or something?”

’She’s onto me??!’ Leonard kept a calm composure on the surface.

But silently, he was panicking and thinking that his secret might have been exposed.

Even though he was now the complete version of Leonard, the truth remained that the original Leonard was already gone.

Just when he thought she would press on, Eleanor suddenly giggled.

”Look at how afraid you are.” She teased. ”I can sense that you’re nervous, but you don’t have to be. I have this special ability that allows me to detect if there’s someone using some controlling magic on you.”

’What a scary threat,’ Leonard thought to himself.

At first glance, it seemed like she was reassuring him. But once you delve deeper, you would learn the words weren’t for him to listen to.

These words were meant for the parties who had been secretly trailing behind them or lurking in the shadows to listen.

Want to play dirty tricks?

Sorry, but that wouldn’t work!

This was her gentle reminder, as well as a threat to others, not to even think about controlling someone close to her or someone she appreciated.

Otherwise, the consequences wouldn’t be simple.

Sure enough, those hiding in the dark all noted this statement down.

’The strategist is warning us to leave.’ Some of them were more aware of the danger if they were to remain in the scene.

Without hesitation, they all fled the scene.

When the remaining few noticed the others’ movement, they all promptly decided to follow suit.

Not a single one of them wished to be captured and become a sacrificial pawn.

Alas, with so many people retreating simultaneously, it was hard for their sound movement to go undetected.

Flickers of shadows passed by, and Eleanor discreetly smiled maliciously.

’Finally peaceful.’ She was honestly starting to get annoyed with so many third parties disturbing her time with Leonard.

Now that there were no more disturbances, Eleanor finally went to the topic.

”I’ve heard that you controlled the economic capital.” She lightly commented.

”I wouldn’t say control. More like managing it.” He corrected her. As for denying the claim, he didn’t attempt such a foolish move.

”Then you really are poor at management.” Eleanor suddenly shook her head and sighed.

”Some might have thought you’re blind instead.”

”What do you mean?”

”Did you seriously think a juicy economic city like Velastra could be managed or controlled by you solely? Or did you seriously think an ant like Wesley is capable of doing that?”

’An ant?’ This particular term of address for someone whom he had gone against previously felt like an insult or taunt.

He had gone in disguise and even maneuvered carefully to take him down.

Yet in her eyes, the person was simply an ant, not even worthy of cleaning her shoes.

’Hmm, was I a bit too harsh?’ Eleanor frowned a bit when she sensed his slight discomfort and near-silent response.

”Ahem, anyway, the economic capital is not as simple as you think. Aside from the underground slum, the surface is also being maneuvered by many people. They simply hid themselves when you were present.” She cleared her throat and explained the overall situation.

”You seem to know a lot about our city for someone from another continent.” Leonard narrowed his eyes and deepened his tone.

”Of course, I do.” Unfazed by his tone, Eleanor curled her lips upward. ”I know more than just the Trade Crown. I even know how you crawled through the vents to escape. How cute of you~.”

Leonard shivered in place and felt goosebumps all over his body.

Why did this blind strategist choose him of all people?
