Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson

With Albert’s clear and concise explanation, Curtis found himself lost for words.

It would indeed be ridiculous to demand a blind person to board another ship in a shaky sea environment.

Not only would demanding this make them look terrible, but it would also raise questions about the Crown Prince’s character.

”Since your princess is that delicate and fragile, then I might as well head over there. I just want to know how she would compensate for my ship’s resources.” Leonard suddenly chimed in.

He knew Curtis had lost the verbal sparring against a veteran man like Albert.

Each word spouted from Albert was laced with traps, and his subtle action was also filled with poison.

By acting humbly and speaking in a lower tone, Albert painted himself in a helpless position.

Added to the fact that he was accompanied by a blind princess, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say they were both tragic characters.

People tend to criticize those who undermine or bully the tragic characters, because they themselves wouldn’t lend a helping hand either. But they sure as hell would take joy in others’ misfortune to stumble across such an incident.

And currently, Leonard was this unfortunate person who stumbled across this staged incident, where he had to relent and play along with Eleanor’s game.

’Using blindness as a weapon. Why is she even more difficult to deal with than Wesley and Darius?’ Leonard cried inwardly.

Could there be no resting period for him?

He only enjoyed a few massages, and now his back must ache again!

Sometime later, Albert calmly led the way for Leonard.

Both Curtis and Mirelle followed along.

Although the two seriously doubted Leonard would encounter danger when the opposing side had revealed their identity already, they still needed to be cautious.

For this aspect, Albert didn’t say much and silently agreed to it.

It was only when they arrived at the ship and were about to enter Eleanor’s private room that Albert halted their advance.

”Apologies, but the Miss only wishes to meet with the Crown Prince.” Albert placed a hand on his chest and bowed lightly.

”Your miss wants to meet with me?” Before the two could respond, Leonard intervened.

With his chin raised up high, he smirked, ”Isn’t your Miss blind? How can she even meet me?”

’Crown Prince?!!’ Both Curtis and Mirelle got a fright and nearly fainted on the spot.

Speaking the word blind wasn’t considered taboo.

But even Curtis knows that directly saying the blind person can’t even see was a big taboo. Even the nearby guards protecting Eleanor trembled in place.

As for Albert, he was stupefied for a moment.

”The Crown Prince sure knows how to joke around.” In the end, he mustered a brief smile and gestured for Leonard to enter.

Had it been anyone else who dared to utter such words, then Albert would have long eliminated them.

Not even Eleanor’s father or siblings would dare to speak those words earlier.

Everyone had a reverse scale, and those people knew what it meant to touch it, even if it was by accident.

Needless to say, Leonard obviously knew what the reverse scale of a blind person was. Thus, he was quite amazed by Albert’s endurance.

’I doubt he was appreciative, so could it be that the princess really knows me?’ Leonard was certain that he felt a very faint trace of killing intent when he insulted Eleanor’s blindness. However, that moment quickly vanished—or more precisely, it was suppressed heavily.

As Albert opened the door, Leonard casually entered without caring about any etiquette.

Once he was inside, the door stayed shut. It was clear that Albert had no intention of revealing too much of the interior to anyone else.

’What is this? A tiger’s den?’ Leonard twitched his brows. He glanced around the surroundings and noticed the room was very simplistic. Not a single piece of decoration could be spotted.

However, there was precisely one bowl that was encased.

”A bowl?” He approached it and noticed some faint engraving symbols. It was just a pity that the symbol seemed to have been discolored with the passage of time, making it difficult to discern the image.

”Does the Crown Prince admire my bowl?” Amidst his concentration, a feminine voice suddenly echoed from behind.

Leonard turned around and spotted the woman sitting in a wheelchair.

Despite appearing ordinary, he felt a powerful sensation emitted from the wheelchair.

”You must be that Princess Eleanor, right?” He stared at her from top to bottom.

”I thought you were only blind. I didn’t expect you to be crippled in the legs as well.”

The tone was completely informal and impolite. It even carried a faint hint of taunting and teasing.

”I’m blind, so movement isn’t ideal. Having a wheelchair will make my movement easier.” Eleanor replied sweetly.

”I can tell the wheelchair is some magical crafting. Not being able to see is indeed quite pathetic since movement gets hindered too. You’re smart to sit in the wheelchair to avoid troubling others too much.”

Leonard expected a fierce or at least somewhat hostile response from this remark of his.

He wasn’t being discriminatory, but based on the setting that the original Leonard was in, he must continue such behavior to avoid any suspicion.

A great strategist from the Xundraeth Continent.

Even one slip-up would give her lots of intel against him.

Alas, Leonard severely underestimated the woman in front of him.

”Is the Crown Prince complimenting me?” Eleanor smiled brightly and controlled the wheelchair to get closer to him.

Once the distance was fixed at a mere 2 meters, she extended her hand. ”Do I get some reward?”

”...”

Leonard was rendered speechless.

How come she doesn’t play by the rules?

Or did she not understand that he was speaking sarcastically?

Wait a second!

Why was she the one asking for a reward when it should have been him?

’Damn, I’m being toyed with like a puppet.’ He had thought he controlled the flow of the conversation. But in just a few sentences, the controller had been changed to her.
