Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1678 - 0008: Wasnʼt that Yueʼer?

Chen Rong also frowned and said, ”Yueʼer, youʼve indeed regressed quite a bit. Havenʼt you been practicing well these days? This wonʼt do. Our Wang family now has only you as a man, and the future of the family relies on you.”

”Aunt, Iʼve taken your lesson to heart,” Wang Yue apologized verbally, but inside, he wasnʼt the least bit frightened.

He knew his aunt all too well; she was the kindest person, never scolding anyone. To put it bluntly, her character was even somewhat timid.

If it werenʼt for this, his second cousin Wang Yue wouldnʼt have forced herself to be so assertive. She did it to protect her weak mother and sister.

Come to think of it, the second generation of the Wang family was really quite peculiar. In other families, there was always fierce competition and strife between different branches, sometimes to the point of being like enemies.

But in the Wang family, Chen Rong, the eldest daughter-in-law, was the epitome of tolerance, never engaging in any disputes.

As for the second branch, which included Wang Yueʼs own family, his mother Su Mengyan was like a celestial being, detached from worldly affairs and incapable of participating in any secular disputes. His fatherʼs other de facto wife, Xue Yan, due to her ambiguous status, was more concerned with avoiding suspicion and wouldnʼt compete with anyone either.

As for the third branch, Wang Yueʼs aunt Huang Yuexiang was a renowned talent, who, aside from cultivation, immersed herself entirely in the arts of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, never involving herself in mundane matters.

There was a harmonious and joyful atmosphere among the branches, which had its advantages but also significant drawbacks.

The advantage was that the relationships between the branches were excellent, allowing for better unity and a united front against external challenges.

The drawback, however, was that for a family to develop, it needed a strong leader. With everyone being so uncompetitive, it was difficult to cultivate such a leader.

Fortunately, the third generation was somewhat better. The eldest daughter-in-law of the first branch, Liu Xinru, had the demeanor of a family head and was a capable leader. However, her cultivation talent was poor; she was already in her thirties and still only at the fifth layer of the Qi Refining stage.

Wang Yue and Wang Xinʼer could be considered geniuses in cultivation, especially Wang Yue, who was the only male in the Wang family at present.

However, they were still too young. To take charge independently, they would need at least another decade.

Every time she thought of these things, Liu Ruoshi, the head of the family, would sigh inwardly. Although she was already at the Heavenly Origin stage and had a lifespan of at least three hundred years, her current age was just the beginning of her life. If nothing unexpected happened, she could protect the Wang family for another two hundred years or more.

But one should never put all eggs in one basket. She had to think ahead while things were still safe. After all, life was full of surprises. What if something happened to her and the Wang family didnʼt even have a qualified successor?

Back to the main topic.

Sure enough, as soon as Wang Yue admitted his mistake, Chen Rong immediately smiled and said, ”Itʼs good that you know. You must practice more in the future.”

Then, she easily let Wang Yue off the hook and began to give pointers on the martial techniques that he and Liu Xinru had performed inadequately.

After guiding everyone, Chen Rong left and returned to the training ground for those above the Spirit Condensing stage. All members of the Wang family who were at the Spirit Condensing stage or higher were there, including Liu Ruoshi at the Heavenly Origin stage and Su Mengyan at the Earthly Realm stage.

In fact, there were not many people in the Wang family who were above the Spirit Condensing stage. Besides the higher stages of Liu Ruoshi and Su Mengyan, there were only Chen Rong, Xue Yan, and Huang Yuexiang.

If Wang Yue and Wang Xinʼer were considered geniuses, then their mother, Su Mengyan, was a genius among geniuses. Shortly after marrying into the Wang family, she ascended to the Earthly Realm stage and became the youngest Earthly Realm expert in Jinling. She even reached the peak of the Earthly Realm ten years ago.

However, the threshold from the peak of the Earthly Realm to the Heavenly Origin stage had been holding her back for a full decade, and she still couldnʼt break through.

The stages of Refining the Body, Refining the Qi, and Condensing the Spirit respectively refine a martial artistʼs essence, energy, and spirit, that is, the physique, internal energy, and mental focus. When one reaches the peak of the Spirit Condensing stage, these three most important factors are considered to be initially strengthened.

The Earthly Realm further refines a martial artistʼs physique and internal energy, integrating them perfectly. When one reaches the peak of this stage, they possess the most perfect physical body.

Then, driven by this perfect physical body, one further refines their mental power, which is the Heavenly Origin stage.

Once the mental power is also refined to perfection, and the essence, energy, and spirit are fully integrated into one, achieving the unity of the three elements, one reaches the True Return stage.

At the peak of the True Return stage, a martial artist has no weaknesses left. They then evolve towards an inconceivable realm, known as the Transcendence stage, which means gradually shedding the mortal body.

Of course, shedding the mortal body does not mean transcending the physical form and ascending to the heavens. It is merely a metaphor, indicating that at this stage, a person is no longer an ordinary human and possesses inconceivable power. With a mere gesture, they can split mountains and shatter rocks.

Once the mortal body is completely shed, a martial artist reaches the Detachment stage. At this stage, apart from other martial artists of the same realm, very few things in the world can pose a threat. Moreover, they can fly with their physical body, move mountains and fill seas, all with ease, achieving a state of perfection akin to an earthly immortal.

In this current era, the True Return stage is already the pinnacle of worldly power, with each minor stage having a vast difference between them.

The Detachment stage exists only in legends, with the belief that only one or two individuals in each martial arts sanctuary might reach it.

As for whether there are higher realms beyond the Detachment stage, no one knows.

The difficulty of breaking through increases with each major stage. Generally speaking, as long as one has a cultivation method, almost everyone can reach the Qi Refining stage. However, out of ten Qi Refining martial artists, not even one may be able to break through to the Spirit Condensing stage.

The Earthly Realm is even more challenging. Out of a hundred Spirit Condensing martial artists, having two or three break through to the Earthly Realm is already a high proportion.

The Heavenly Origin stage is somewhat easier; as long as one reaches the Earthly Realm, at least one out of three martial artists can break through to the Heavenly Origin stage.

Given Su Mengyanʼs top-tier talent, she shouldnʼt have been stuck at the peak of the Earthly Realm for so long. However, she was.

The reason was largely due to her character. The Heavenly Origin stage is about perfecting oneʼs mental power. As the saying goes: ”Temper the mind in the mundane world to achieve transcendence.”

However, Su Mengyanʼs character was too indifferent. She had never experienced significant emotional fluctuations. Even when nearly all the male members of the three major families disappeared three years ago, it didnʼt affect her much, even though it included her father and her nominal husband.

For this reason, many people thought Su Mengyan was cold-hearted. But the Wang family knew the truth.

Wang Jing didnʼt need to be mentioned; he and Su Mengyan were only nominally husband and wife, with no real feelings between them. If Su Mengyan had been heartbroken over his disappearance, it would have seemed fake to those who knew the truth.

As for her father, not to mention that he had forced Su Mengyan to marry into the Wang family for the sake of the family, but even before that, there had been deep conflicts between them. What these conflicts were, Su Mengyan always kept quiet, and no one else knew.

It was precisely because of the lack of emotional fluctuations and the insufficient strength of her internal energy to trigger a qualitative change that Su Mengyan remained stuck at the peak of the Earthly Realm, unable to make any progress. The current path of cultivation was completely different from the legendary immortal cultivation. Merely secluding oneself to cultivate and maintaining a calm mind was not conducive to cultivation.

The day quickly passed, and by eight in the evening, Chen Rong, who had finished washing up, sat on the bed but couldnʼt get into a state of cultivation. The performance of Wang Yue during the day kept replaying in her mind. She couldnʼt understand why the boy had regressed so much.

She remembered seeing him in action less than a week ago, and his performance at that time was much better than todayʼs. In just a few days, even if he hadnʼt made progress, he shouldnʼt have deteriorated to this extent. There must be some other reason.

Chen Rong truly cared about Wang Yue from the bottom of her heart. Although she had her own sons, they were both much older than Wang Yue, and even her granddaughter wasnʼt much younger than him. Among children of that age, Wang Yue was the only boy. Perhaps it was the rarity that made him precious, but Chen Rong liked him even more than she had liked her own sons.

Now that Wang Yueʼs cultivation seemed to have a problem, Chen Rong felt it was time to fulfill her duty as the eldest daughter-in-law and have a good talk with him.

So, after taking a bath and changing into her pajamas, she changed clothes again and left her residence, heading towards Wang Yueʼs courtyard.

It was almost nine in the evening, and the vast Wang family estate was very quiet, with not a soul in sight.

Chen Rong suddenly felt that it might not be appropriate for her to go to Wang Yueʼs place at this time. After all, he was already fifteen years old, not very young. In many families, boys of this age had already gotten married to quickly continue the family line.

But then she thought again, Wang Yue was a boy she had watched grow up, almost like her own son. As his elder, there was nothing wrong with her visiting his home in the middle of the night.

With this somewhat conflicted feeling, Chen Rong quickly arrived near Wang Yueʼs courtyard. She was about to use the communicator on her wrist to call him and ask him to open the door for her when she saw the courtyard gate open a crack and a figure flash out from inside.

Wasnʼt that Yueʼer?

Chen Rong was about to call out to him when she suddenly had a thought: What is Yueʼer doing coming out at this time? Could his regression in martial arts be related to this?

Chen Rongʼs character was somewhat peculiar. Besides being quite timid, she had a much stronger curiosity than most people. So when she saw Wang Yue leaving at this hour, the first thing she wanted to do was not to stop him, but to quietly follow and see what the boy was up to.

Thus, Chen Rong followed Wang Yue at a distance, watching as he slipped into a courtyard.

”Isnʼt this Xue Yanʼs residence? What is Yueʼer doing here?” Chen Rong wondered to herself.

But then she laughed it off. Although Xue Yan was not Wang Yueʼs biological mother, she was still his mother in a sense, and their relationship was even closer than hers with Wang Yue. If she could visit Wang Yue in the middle of the night, why couldnʼt he visit his mother at this time?

Although she felt relieved inside, that damned curiosity still drove her to follow. Seeing that the courtyard gate had been locked from the inside, she simply leaped up and flew into the yard.

Since the houses of the Wang familyʼs courtyards were constructed from special materials, once the doors were closed, no sound from inside could get out, and likewise, no sound from outside could get in.

So although Chen Rong made a little noise when she landed, neither Wang Yue nor Xue Yan, whose real cultivation levels were higher than hers, heard it.

”The door is locked too, what on earth is going on?” Seeing that Wang Yue had locked the door after entering, Chen Rongʼs curiosity grew even stronger.

But the house was sealed so well that not only could no sound get out, but all the curtains on the windows were also drawn. Chen Rong couldnʼt hear anything inside, nor could she see what was happening.

If it had been someone else, they might have just turned around and left. After all, it was not unusual for mother and son to be together. But that damned curiosity made Chen Rong increasingly eager to know what Wang Yue was doing at Xue Yanʼs place.

Driven by curiosity, a personʼs motivation is limitless.

Chen Rong quickly thought of the fact that in order to prevent problems during individual cultivation, each residence was not only equipped with a very complete alarm system for self-rescue, but also each courtyard had a set of spare keys, which were kept in the Wang family armory.

So Chen Rong immediately left the courtyard and went straight to the armory.

The so-called armory was a place to store weapons and equipment, including cold weapons such as swords and various armors, and there was also no shortage of light and heavy thermal weapons. After all, although the human territory was now established and quite stable, the threat of the beast tribes still existed. Thermal weapons were open to all humans, especially for large families like the Wang family, who could obtain some powerful weapons that could even harm Earthly Realm, or even Heavenly Origin martial artists.

With Chen Rongʼs status, there was no place in the Wang family that she couldnʼt go. After the intelligent recognition at the entrance, she directly entered the armory, found the spare key to Xue Yanʼs residence in the spare key room, and immediately left the armory.

Coming to Xue Yanʼs place again, Chen Rong used the key to open the door. As soon as she entered, she heard intermittent moans coming from the direction of the bedroom. And for Chen Rong, who was a woman of experience, these sounds were not unfamiliar at all.

”Could it be that Yueʼer has already left, and Xue Yan is masturbating to relieve her loneliness?” Chen Rong thought to herself, not finding it strange at all. After all, she herself had done the same thing in the past three years.

In an instant, another kind of curiosity surged in Chen Rongʼs heart: How does Xue Yan do it herself?

All of them were poor women without men. Maybe she could secretly learn one or two masturbation techniques from her, so that she could feel more comfortable when she did it herself in the future.

Chen Rong thought that although Xue Yanʼs cultivation was two minor stages higher than hers and she was now at the seventh layer of the Spirit Condensing stage, she was currently masturbating. As long as she was careful, she probably wouldnʼt be discovered.

At this moment, Chen Rong had no idea that Xue Yanʼs cultivation had reached the peak of the ninth layer of the Spirit Condensing stage yesterday, not the seventh layer as she thought.

But she did get one thing right: Xue Yan was indeed immersed in her lust at this moment. Even if she made some noise with her footsteps, Xue Yan might not have noticed.
