I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 1146, Recruiting Another One to Join?

“Laying the groundwork beforehand?” Yu Ying’s face showed complete bafflement.

“They stayed at the Restful Night Building for several days, didn’t they? Can you guess what they were doing at that time?” Su Bai asked in return.

“They were probably going out to have a look around, mainly to get a sense of our Tribe.” Yu Ying said immediately.

“That’s right. So what could they see? Wasn’t everything they saw exactly what we wanted them to see?” Su Bai continued.

“I understand now. The Shaman must have had the Chieftain arrange all sorts of things for them to see, so they knew very clearly how strong our Tribe is.” Yu Ying said at once.

“Precisely. I already had the Chieftain make a point of showing off our Tribe’s strength. Anyone who isn’t dim would know they’re no match for us.” Su Bai said calmly.

Long before those Tribes had moved into the building, he had already given Yan Jiao special instructions to arrange everything.

That meant deliberately having the Totem Warriors train in full view of everyone, in order to properly display the imposing force of the Flame Dragon Tribe’s Warriors.

“Was it our Tribe’s secret weapon?” Yu Ying blinked her delicate pink eyes.

“Of course. Only those things have enough lethality. Otherwise why would those people have backed down?” Su Bai nodded.

Things like smashing rocks on the chest or splitting bricks with a bare hand were small matters. What truly struck people with awe was the bolt-action rifle.

Of course, the bolt-action rifle’s appearance had not been fully exposed to everyone. It had been given a special disguise.

Many leaves and vines had been draped over the bolt-action rifle, so that the people from the other Tribes could only see fire sparks shooting out from beneath the leaves and vines, and then the target before them would already be struck down.

“I see. I imagine after watching that weapon demonstration, they would certainly have been frightened.” Yu Ying nodded firmly.

“That was only one of the demonstrations. The truly impactful one was the explosives.” Su Bai’s mouth curved slightly upward.

“Explosive packages? But I never heard any explosions inside the Tribe. Those were always outside.” Yu Ying said, puzzled.

“None of it was demonstrated inside the Tribe. It was demonstrated by the river. The target of the demonstration was the Ferocious Beasts in the river.” Su Bai gave a simple explanation.

As long as the people from the other Tribes did not do anything excessive, their freedom within the Flame Dragon Tribe was not restricted. Naturally, they could also walk to the great river and watch the explosive package demonstration.

Even if some were slow to react, hearing the sound of the explosion would be enough for them to understand, and running out of the Tribe afterwards to look would be entirely in time.

“Now I know why the Horned Goat Tribe agreed so readily. So, all of this groundwork has been laid.” Yu Ying covered her mouth and laughed, the realisation hitting her belatedly.

She could sense the pressure that radiated from Su Bai, and although it was very strong, it was not enough on its own to make an entire Tribe submit so quickly.

She hadn’t imagined that so much preparation had gone in beforehand, but the effect had certainly been very clear.

“That was only one kind of groundwork. There were several other kinds as well.” Su Bai smiled.

“Was it the barbecue gathering in the middle of the Tribe a few days ago?” Yu Ying began to piece it together.

A few days earlier, the Tribe’s square had hosted a barbecue gathering, and throughout the day, four or five large wild beasts had been roasted one after another in the square.

The wild beasts were very large, about the size of a great wild bull from Earth.

Just roasting one whole beast that size was more than enough to feed several dozen people, let alone roasting several throughout the day.

“That’s right. The barbecue is fragrant enough to make you drool.” Su Bai nodded.

The aroma from just a single beast was enough to fill the entire Tribe with fragrance. No other reason, mainly because of the seasonings.

Roasting a single beast on its own certainly had a smell, but it couldn’t compare to what seasonings added.

Roasted meat sizzling with oil, sprinkled with cumin, chilli powder and salt, the aroma was something that stayed with you long after you had smelled it.

“I was curious at the time about why the Shaman had specifically arranged a barbecue in the middle of the square. So, it was to show off our Tribe’s food reserves.” Yu Ying understood immediately.

Looking at the Central Market alone certainly couldn’t convey a Tribe’s food stockpiling strength, but roasting meat in the square and distributing it to everyone was a different matter entirely.

Some Tribes could barely even get their high-ranking members to eat meat every day. The Flame Dragon Tribe, by contrast, was roasting meat right in the square and sharing it with everyone. One could well imagine just how much food they had.

“Of course. Making other Tribes understand that we are not short of food, and that our strength is something they dare not provoke. Only then would our negotiations go more smoothly.” Su Bai smiled and nodded.

Otherwise, he could have received those Tribe representatives long ago, without needing to say he was busy with many things every day.

Being busy was just a cover. The main purpose was to let those Tribes observe the Flame Dragon Tribe’s foundation.

One or two days was nowhere near enough. They had to be allowed to observe for four or five days, only then would they be thoroughly convinced.

“So the Shaman had been thinking about so many things all along. I had assumed it was simply to share roasted meat with everyone.” Yu Ying laughed awkwardly.

At the time of the barbecue in the square, Yu Ying had specifically gone and eaten a couple of bites.

Although it wasn’t quite as good as the barbecue inside the Restful Night Building, it was absolutely far better than anything they had eaten before.

“This is called preparation before the rain comes. It applies to many things, and only by doing this can everything go without a hitch.” Su Bai patted the other party on the head.

“Shaman, shall we see the last remaining Tribe?” Yu Ying raised her head and asked curiously.

“Of course. Since they’ve come all this way, there’s no reason not to see them. They’ve already waited long enough.” Su Bai said quietly.

He already had a new idea forming in his mind, but it would have to wait until after meeting the Coiled Goat Tribe.

“Alright.” Yu Ying said softly.

“Then I’ll go have them come up and get ready.” Sha Lan went out swishing her cat tail.

“Shaman, why specifically approach the people of the Coiled Goat Tribe? Haven’t we already gained the entire Horned Goat Tribe?” Yu Ying asked.

Su Bai unhurriedly lifted a cup of tea, took a slow sip, and then asked: “Aren’t you curious about the story between those two Tribes?”

He remembered that those two Tribes had always been at odds, and he was particularly curious about the reason. If it was something the Flame Dragon Tribe could resolve, wouldn’t that mean gaining yet another Tribe?

“Is the Shaman thinking of drawing the Coiled Goat Tribe into joining our Tribe?” Yu Ying asked in surprise.

“Wait until they arrive and you’ll know.” Su Bai was deliberately mysterious.
