Evil MC's NTR Harem

Chapter 1249: Chapter 1249 Parity

Eric was the name of Anita’s husband.

He had been missing for months—captured during a mission that had gone terribly wrong.

When the rescue team finally brought him back to the base, bruised but alive, everyone called it a miracle.

Everyone except him.

Because the moment he stepped through the door of their quarters and saw Anita standing there, something felt… off.

She smiled. She hugged him. She even cried.

But it felt rehearsed. Measured.

As if she were performing the role of a relieved wife instead of being one.

A week had already passed since his return, yet the warmth he had clung to during his darkest hours in captivity never truly came back to him.

The base felt colder. Their room felt unfamiliar. And Anita—his Anita—felt like an alien wearing her face.

She avoided his gaze more often than not. Conversations died quickly.

When he tried to reminisce about old memories, she would nod politely, but her eyes seemed distant, distracted.

Like she was somewhere else.

“Anita,” he said one evening, his voice gentler than he felt.

She stood near the small counter, pretending to organize things that didn’t need organizing.

He stepped closer, closing the space between them. “Can we talk?”

She didn’t answer immediately. That hesitation—so small, yet so sharp—cut deeper than anything.

He reached for her hand.

She dodged him.

It wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t violent. It was subtle. But it was deliberate.

“Not tonight, Eric. I’m tired,” she said, keeping her eyes fixed on the counter.

The same line. The same tone. The same careful distance.

For days now, every attempt at closeness had ended the same way. No kisses.

No lingering touches. No quiet conversations in the dark like they used to have. She went to bed early.

Woke up early. Left before he could say much.

He felt like a guest in his own marriage.

That night, something inside him cracked.

“What’s happening with you, Anita?” His voice rose before he could stop it. “Why are you so distant since I got back?”

She stiffened but didn’t turn around.

“I survived,” he continued, his words tumbling out, raw and uncontrolled. “I came back to you. I thought you’d be happy. I thought we’d—” His voice faltered, then hardened. “Are you cheating on me? Is that it? Just tell me!”

Silence.

The kind of silence that felt louder than shouting.

She finally turned, and for a split second, he saw something in her eyes—not guilt, not anger… but fear.

“Don’t,” she whispered.

“Don’t what?” he demanded. “Don’t ask? Don’t notice that my own wife won’t even let me touch her?”

His fists clenched at his sides. “Every night it’s ‘I’m tired.’ Every conversation ends before it begins. You won’t look at me. You won’t hold me. What am I supposed to think?”

His anger filled the room, but beneath it lay something far more fragile—terror.

Because what scared him most wasn’t the possibility that she was cheating.

It was the possibility that she no longer loved him.

And the worst part?

The way she looked at him now… almost as if she were the one afraid of him.

“I think we need time and distance, Eric. I can’t be with you like this—full of bitterness and accusations.”

Anita’s voice didn’t rise. That hurt more than if she had screamed. It was calm. Controlled. Decided.

Eric stared at her as if she had just spoken in another language. “What are you saying?” he asked, his voice cracking despite himself.

She didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she walked past him to the closet and pulled out a travel bag.

The sound of the zipper sliding open felt sharp in the silence.

“I’m saying I can’t live like this,” she said at last. “Every conversation turns into suspicion. Every touch feels like an interrogation. I’m tired, Eric. Not physically. Emotionally.”

He watched her fold her clothes with mechanical precision.

“Anita, don’t do this,” he said, stepping closer. “I was just angry. I didn’t mean it.”

“You did mean it,” she replied quietly. “You wouldn’t have said it otherwise.”

The words struck him harder than any blow.

“I survived,” he whispered hoarsely. “I came back to you. I thought—”

“You came back different,” she cut in, finally turning to face him. Her eyes glistened, but no tears fell. “And I tried to be patient. I told myself you needed time. That what happened out there changed you. But you don’t talk to me, Eric. You look at me like I’m hiding something. Like I betrayed you.”

“I was scared!” he burst out. “I lost control of everything out there. I needed something stable. I needed you.”

“And instead of leaning on me, you pushed me away,” she said.

The bag was full now. She zipped it shut.

“Anita, wait. Please.” His composure shattered. “I’m sorry. I’ll fix it. I’ll get help. Just don’t leave.”

For a moment—just a moment—she hesitated at the door.

But hesitation wasn’t enough.

“I need space,” she said softly. “For both of us.”

Then she walked out.

***

The quarters felt too big without her.

Too quiet.

The bed seemed colder. The air heavier.

Eric told himself he would respect her wishes. That he would give her the distance she asked for.

By the second day, he broke.

He started noticing her schedule again. The times she left for duty.

The routes she took through the base. He told himself it wasn’t stalking.

He told himself he just wanted reassurance.

But deep down, he knew what it was.

Obsession born from fear.

He followed from afar—never close enough to confront her, but close enough to see.

In the cafeteria, she sat alone or with colleagues, speaking only about work.

In training simulations, she was sharp, focused, professional.

When her shift ended, she returned directly to her newly assigned quarters.

No secret glances.

No hushed meetings.

No unfamiliar men lingering near her door.

Another week passed.

Nothing.

Eric leaned against a wall one evening, watching her disappear into her room again, and something inside him deflated.

“Was I truly wrong?” he muttered under his breath. “She’s not cheating… she never was.”

He had spent seven days searching for evidence of betrayal and found none.

Only proof of his own insecurity.

Memories from captivity crept into his mind—interrogations, manipulation, the constant feeling that trust was a weakness.

Somewhere along the way, that poison had followed him home.

And he had poured it onto the one person who had waited for him.

“I’m an idiot,” he whispered bitterly.

The realization didn’t bring relief.

It brought shame.

***

He approached her again a few days later, this time without anger, without suspicion.

She stood outside the command building reviewing a data pad when he stopped a few feet away.

“Anita,” he said quietly.

She looked up. No hostility. Just caution.

“I owe you more than an apology,” he continued. “I let my fear control me. I accused you because I was scared of losing you… and in doing that, I pushed you away.”

She listened without interrupting.

“I was wrong,” he said firmly. “You didn’t deserve that.”

A long silence followed.

“I know you were hurting,” Anita said at last. “I know what you went through changed you. But it changed me too.”

He frowned slightly. “What do you mean?”

“I spent months thinking you were dead,” she replied. “I learned how to function without you. I built walls just to survive the possibility that you weren’t coming back.”

Her voice wavered for the first time.

“When you returned, I was relieved. But I was also… afraid. Afraid to let those walls down again. And when you started accusing me, it felt like confirmation that we weren’t the same people anymore.”

Eric felt the weight of her words settle into his chest.

“I don’t recognize the man who looks at me like I’m guilty before I even speak,” she said softly. “And I don’t think you recognize the woman who had to learn how to live without you.”

He swallowed hard.

“So that’s it?” he asked quietly. “We just end?”

She shook her head gently. “I’m not saying it’s over forever. I’m saying we need space. Real space. To figure out who we are now.”

Her gaze met his fully this time—sad, but steady.

“You’ve changed. And I’ve changed too. I think we’re better off apart for now.”

The words weren’t cruel.

They were honest.

And that honesty hurt more than any accusation ever could.

Eric stood there long after she walked away, the weight of his own mistakes pressing down on him.

For the first time since his rescue, he understood something clearly:

Coming back alive wasn’t the same as coming back whole.

***

What Eric didn’t know—what he could never have suspected—was that Ross had been fucking his wife in secret.

“Ahhhhh…”

“Ohhhhh…”

“Ughhhh…”

Anita’s moans spilled shamelessly through the bedroom, raw and unguarded, rising in pitch each time Ross drove deeper.

The headboard tapped the wall in slow, deliberate rhythm.

She clutched the sheets, knuckles white, thighs trembling around his hips as he pinned her exactly the way she’d begged him to the first time they crossed the line.
