Chapter 267: Suggestions

”My student has made a fool of himself before you,” Zephyr said.

Kokoilo waved his hand and replied with a smile, ”Not at all. Children who are naturally active are more likely to become strong Marines in the future.”

Zephyr forced a faint smile and accepted the praise.

Axel’s status as a Rear Admiral, along with his terrifying strength, had not been publicized as widely as before. Only a few people knew the details.

Clearly, Kokoilo was not one of them.

Otherwise, he would never have said that.

”You mentioned last time that his change was triggered by the death of a close friend, and that he still has another friend alive.”

Kokoilo lowered his voice so that only Zephyr could hear.

”Can they meet? Perhaps it might trigger some change.”

Zephyr sighed and shook his head.

Binz believed that Ain falling into the sea was his responsibility.

He did not have the face to see Axel.

Zephyr did not force him.

Although Kokoilo did not understand the reason, he wisely changed the subject.

”Oh, right. Let me show you this.”

Kokoilo walked to the breakfast table, rummaged through some papers, then pulled a few sheets from beneath the documents and handed them over.

”This is the treatment approach I plan to take.”

Zephyr took the papers and said, ”I’m sorry for disturbing you while you’re eating breakfast.”

Then he began reading.

Kokoilo gave a light chuckle and did not interrupt him.

This was exactly the effect he wanted.

The documents had not actually been buried under a mess.

His rummaging was intentional.

He wanted Zephyr to notice the food on the table, an arrangement he had made after the nurse left.

Sometimes, details decided many things.

After Zephyr finished reading, Kokoilo asked, ”What do you think of this treatment plan?”

Zephyr frowned slightly, seemingly considering something.

Kokoilo noticed his expression and felt puzzled.

To a doctor like him, this was a solid proposal.

Was there something unsatisfactory?

Had he overlooked something?

”What is it? Is something wrong?”

”Not exactly.”

Zephyr looked at the papers again.

”I just feel these methods are too gentle.”

”Isn’t gentle good?” Kokoilo asked curiously.

”It’s not that it’s bad. I just don’t think gentle methods are necessary for this kid.”

Zephyr said it calmly.

”Using something tougher would be fine.”

No matter how tough the method was, if it endangered Axel’s body, his ability would automatically defend him.

That was why Zephyr had allowed Axel to train the way he did before.

”Uh... then what range of tough are we talking about?” Kokoilo asked cautiously.

”I heard that instantly stimulating the brain with high voltage, or methods like severe external impact, can also be effective,” Zephyr said.

He had consulted many materials and asked many people.

If there was any method that was effective and fast, it would be this kind of intense physical therapy.

Kokoilo shuddered violently.

Precisely because he was an expert in this field, he understood exactly what Zephyr was talking about.

If treatment were carried out according to Zephyr’s method, Kokoilo was certain that not even one in a hundred patients would survive.

This was not treatment.

This was murder.

He could not tell whether Zephyr was trying to protect this student or send him to his death.

”That is no longer treatment...”

Kokoilo’s expression became solemn.

”As I said before, the brain is an incredibly important part of the human body. Compared to other areas, it is extremely fragile.”

”Without a prior examination, I do not recommend using forceful methods.”

Aside from his duty as a doctor, Kokoilo also did not want a patient to die under his care.

That would affect his reputation.

”It won’t work?”

Zephyr frowned.

”But someone said there have been successful cases.”

”Heh... cases only use the success of a few to cover up the failure of the vast majority.”

Kokoilo spoke seriously.

”The brain holds infinite possibilities, and human knowledge of it is still minimal. There are indeed countless possible treatment methods, but a successful method requires time, accumulation, and repeated verification.”

”The method you mentioned is purely based on luck.”

”When the condition has not yet caused irreversible damage, I suggest not relying on luck.”

Zephyr nodded.

He did not know much about medical treatment, so he would not argue.

”In any case, try the methods marked on the paper first.”

At that moment, Axel took the documents from Zephyr’s hand.

Zephyr was stunned.

”What’s wrong?”

”I only want to personally confirm anything that will be applied to me,” Axel said coldly.

”What an interesting child,” Kokoilo joked.

”I don’t think so,” Zephyr said.

After a moment, Axel handed the documents back to Zephyr.

”This is useless to me.”

This time, Kokoilo was the one stunned.

He looked at Zephyr helplessly.

This was something he had spent time organizing, not something he had randomly made up.

How could it be useless?

Besides, how could a child understand this?

Even he, when unable to confirm the exact state of Axel’s brain, only dared to use the experience of predecessors to organize a suitable treatment.

These were valuable medical experiences.

They should apply to any brain patient.

”How can you be so sure?” Zephyr asked.

”I read these books while receiving treatment, so I’m certain they won’t help me,” Axel said calmly.

He was not lying.

They truly would not help him.

They might work for an ordinary person, but his brain structure was different.

Using this method would produce no result.

”Cough... reading doesn’t mean knowing how to use what you’ve read.”

Kokoilo quickly countered.

”Many people have read these works, but there are very few famous doctors, aren’t there?”

He did not believe a problem child like this could answer.

Axel did not waste words arguing.

He simply stated, ”It mentions Avery’s Brain Wave Theory and Enoch’s Circuit Trajectory. Although they appear to belong to different fields, these two theories actually conflict.”

”Yet you used them in the same method.”

”Therefore, this method is undoubtedly wrong.”

Famous theories might seem correct, but many theories overlapped or contradicted one another.

When contradictions appeared in the same place, it was undoubtedly an error.

Kokoilo’s face flushed red after hearing Axel’s words.

He realized he had indeed misapplied the method.

He did not dare say anything stupid like, ”You can still try the other methods.”

Having his mistake pointed out by a child, he was too embarrassed to claim the other methods were correct, even if they were.

”Ahem...”

Kokoilo took the documents back from Axel.

”This was my oversight. It seems these really won’t help you.”

He forced himself to remain composed.

”I’ll think of another way.”

Zephyr did not blame Kokoilo.

Instead, he looked at Axel meaningfully before turning back.

”Dr. Kokoilo, we’ll disturb you again next time. We’ll take our leave now.”

”Uh... wait.”

Kokoilo suddenly remembered something.

”I heard someone mention before that Vice Admiral Tsuru’s Devil Fruit ability seems to have the effect of purifying the heart.”

He looked at Zephyr.

”For problems caused by grief, you might consider asking her to try.”

Zephyr nodded.

He said nothing more and led Axel out.
