He ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍looked like a brawny, muscular, rough man, but in fact, this man was a young master raised with a silver spoon in his mouth down to his bones.

The ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍son of the direct line of the Hebei Peng Clan’s head.

This ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍alone was enough to be born with a golden spoon, but he was the son the current clan head barely managed to have as his sixth child after having five daughters.

There ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍was no need to mention how preciously he was raised.

So ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍why did he come to the Twin Dragon Sect?

’Miss Sona...’

It is often when a man is blinded by beauty that he does reckless and foolish things.

Coming all the way to the remote Twin Dragon Sect in Gansu Province, all he did was watch Persona from a distance and admire her with a captivated expression.

’How can a human be that beautiful?’

She was not human.

She was a dragon.

In any case, he was happy.

At least, until yesterday.

”Focus!”

A single word from Persona.

And the powerful blow that followed had enough force to send Peng Mu-seong to heaven.

KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA-BOOM!

This was not a metaphorical expression.

If he did not block this, he might really go to meet his ancestors.

”Uwaaaaaaaah!”

Peng Mu-seong squeezed out his internal energy to the maximum and raised his saber ki.

Then, with an all-out downward strike, he struck down Persona’s attack that was bearing down on him.

The sharp blow split the wave of saber ki.

”I... I’m alive.”

The words that escaped him were from the heart.

However...

”Don’t space out!”

”Move now!”

Peng Mu-seong was about to get angry at the shouts of the other Twin Dragon Sect disciples from behind, but before that, Persona raised her saber again and shouted.

”Here comes another one!”

Seeing that sight, the disciples of the Twin Dragon Sect hurriedly rushed in.

”Keuk...”

”Block it!”

Persona’s attack was powerful in both its force and range, so blocking it beforehand was the best option.

They tried to block it somehow using that experience, but...

”Hahaha. Too hasty.”

”It’s not right to ignore us.”

Sanson and Oliver stood in their way, blocking those disciples.

As the two of them stood firmly in front of Persona, the fierce attacks of the Twin Dragon Sect disciples were useless.

And from behind, Persona, who had leisurely drawn up her saber ki, spoke with a gentle smile.

”Everyone, be careful.”

Please don’t launch an attack we need to be careful of in the first place.

Ignoring everyone’s sentiment, Persona’s saber unleashed a wide arc of saber ki.

KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA!

Once again, a wave of saber ki spread out wide like a fan.

And this time, it was not a single blow.

[ Dragon King Demon Slaying Saber: Second Form: Sea Dragon Ten Thousand Waves ]

It was a single swing, but dozens of saber ki waves crashed down on everyone consecutively like a tide.

”D... dodge!”

”Uwaaaaaah!”

The disciples of the Twin Dragon Sect hurriedly ran backward.

And as the disciples retreated, Peng Mu-seong was...

”Huh?”

”If everyone runs away, what about me...”

KRA-KRA-KRA-KRA-BOOM!

That was his last thought before he lost consciousness.

* * *

”Keuheuk...”

”Eeuuuk...”

”This... damn it...”

The members of the Twin Dragon Squad.

To be precise, the members of the Twin Dragon Squad who were not disciples of the Twin Dragon Sect gritted their teeth.

When they were first told they would be sparring, they were actually looking forward to it.

They were a bit flustered when told to attack all at once, but thinking it was a good opportunity as their opponents were three masters in the State of Harmony, they resolved to do their best.

However...

”What kind of sparring is this!”

At the words of Namgung Bi, the second son of the Namgung Clan, everyone else also gritted their teeth.

This was not sparring.

It was just a one-sided attack that deserved to be called assault.

And they had been beaten one-sidedly.

There was no distinction between men and women.

Even the young ladies who were treated as precious gems in their families and raised with care were no exception.

They would understand if this were a real battle.

But...

”To assault the disciples of other sects so one-sidedly under the pretext of sparring.”

”Is this the way of the Twin Dragon Sect?”

Jaegal Mun, the son of the Jaegal Clan, shouted while gritting his teeth.

The disciples from other sects agreed with him.

”This isn’t right.”

”No matter how you look at it, this isn’t right.”

”We must formally protest.”

”Let’s report this to the Martial Alliance through our clans.”

”That’s right.”

”This is not something we can just let slide.”

Just as they began to raise their voices in unison.

”If you hate it that much, why don’t you just quit?”

Someone retorted bluntly.

When they turned their heads toward the voice, they saw a disciple of the Twin Dragon Sect who was in a better state than they were.

His name was definitely...

”You said your name was Muwon?”

”For the great young master of the esteemed Jaegal Clan to remember the name of a mere commoner like myself.”

”Should I call this an honor for my family?”

”......?”

”But I’m sorry.”

”I’m an orphan, raised on the streets, so I don’t have a family.”

”What should I do?”

”No... that is...”

What?

What’s with this guy?

Jaegal Mun was flustered.

Born into the prestigious Jaegal Clan and raised surrounded by elegant and refined individuals, this was the first time he had encountered such a person.

Before the momentarily flustered man could say anything, someone else stepped forward.

”Hey.”

”Can’t you speak a little more nicely?”

Moyong Hye, the daughter of the Moyong Clan, stepped forward with her eyes raised.

She then continued...

”It’s a fact that this sparring session is beyond common sense, isn’t it?”

”What sect in the world conducts such a brutish sparring session?”

”Our sect does.”

”Haah, so you’re saying you always spar like this?”

”That masters in the State of Harmony beat you like rats every single day?”

”Yes.”

”See?”

”That’s... what?”

”I said yes.”

Muwon spoke bluntly to the flustered Moyong Hye.

At his words, not only Moyong Hye but everyone else was greatly flustered.

Was it just a bluff?

However...

”See.”

”It wasn’t like this in other sects.”

”Didn’t Bong-gong say that this level of hardship is natural if you want to become a master?”

”Do you still believe what Bong-gong says?”

”Damn it, I thought every martial artist went through hell like us to grow.”

Listening to what the other disciples were saying, it didn’t seem like it.

Come to think of it, during the sparring session just now, unlike themselves who were flustered and couldn’t mount a proper response, the disciples of the Twin Dragon Sect were tenaciously trying to do something.

Although the result was a failure, now that the sparring was over, their appearance was relatively a little better than their own.

All of this proved that what they were saying was not a bluff.

This ridiculously brutal training was truly a daily routine for them.

Momentarily at a loss for words, Moyong Hye said.

”Just because this is the way of the Twin Dragon Sect, does that mean you can force this method on the disciples of other sects?”

”That’s why I’m saying you should leave if you don’t like it.”

”Stop whining like a child and interfering with others’ training.”

”What did you say?”

The corners of Moyong Hye’s eyes shot up.

For her, who had a temper, Muwon’s blunt words must have sounded extremely insulting.

But fortunately...

”Stop it.”

Before the atmosphere could worsen, someone stepped forward to defuse the situation.

It was Sanghun, the second disciple of the Twin Dragon Sect.

Sanghun was usually taciturn and of few words.

But among the disciples, he held considerable influence.

Not only because of his skill, but also because of his composed personality and the fact that he rarely said anything wrong, he had the deep trust of the disciples.

Such a person, Sanghun, stepped forward to mediate the situation.

”They are people who are not accustomed to our sect’s training.”

”Must you be hostile just because they found the first day a little hard?”

”I’m sorry, Senior Brother.”

Muwon quietly apologized.

Then, Muwon, having convinced his junior brother, turned to the others and said.

”My junior brother’s words were a bit harsh, but his opinion itself can be said to represent our sect.”

”What do you mean?”

”If you cannot endure the training, you are free to leave.”

”......”

”From what I know of Bong-gong’s and the instructors’ personalities, they are not the type to change their training methods no matter what kind of protest you make.”

”So...”

Sanghun continued calmly but clearly.

”If the temple is not to your liking, shouldn’t the monk leave?”

His voice was calm and his words were polite, but the content was firm.

At Sanghun’s words, the others could not find a response.

Leave?

From here?

Among them were those who had joined the Twin Dragon Squad under their sect’s orders.

To scout the strengths and weaknesses from within the newly rising sect, the Twin Dragon Sect, and to become a member of the Twin Dragon Squad, the first martial battalion established by the Martial Alliance.

And they were to leave from here?

And the reason being that they couldn’t endure the training because it was too hard?

’There’s no way that would be accepted, right?’

’Damn it...’

’This is like they’re making fun of us.’

To the silent group, Sanghun spoke.

”I understand that the training is difficult.”

”But I can promise you two things.”

”What are they?”

To Namgung Bi, who asked back irritably, Sanghun said.

”First, this training will definitely make you stronger.”

Either you die or you get stronger.

In fact, it was difficult not to become stronger while enduring the training of the Twin Dragon Sect.

The members of the Twin Dragon Squad also thought so themselves.

”What’s the second?”

At Im Yeon-hwa’s question, Sanghun said with a sorrowful expression.

”The people who are having the hardest time at this very moment are not us.”

”...What?”

”Compared to the hell those two are experiencing, this is nothing.”

Sanghun’s gaze was directed towards the mountains behind Tianshui County.

They should be there right now.

The two people who were enduring a hell on earth.

* * *

”These... baaastards.”

”You’ve gone crazy, nuts, and then spun around again, haven’t you?”

”Huh?”

Patrick’s expression was viciously contorted.

And in front of him...

”Keu... keuuuuk...”

”Wh... why me...?”

The great disciple of the Twin Dragon Sect and the precious eldest son of the Namgung Clan were rolling around, half-dead.

Patrick looked at the two of them and said.

”You won and came in second in a tournament where a bunch of chicks were pecking at each other, so you thought you were hot stuff, didn’t you?”

”Huh?”

”You thought, ’If I keep this up, I’ll be the number one under the heavens in the future.’”

”You were having some dog-like delusion like that, weren’t you?”

”Huh?”

”......”

”......”

At Patrick’s words, the shoulders of the two people sprawled on the ground flinched.

It seemed they had indeed been thinking something like that.

To those two...

”You’re still faaaar from it, you bastards.”

”How dare you challenge me with such baseless confidence?”

”Huh?”

”A challenge?”

”A chaaalleeenge?”

”You?”

”To me?”

”A chaaalleeenge?!”

It might not seem like a strange scene, so you might not feel the incongruity, but...

First, let me briefly explain why Patrick was so worked up.

* * *

A little while ago.

Patrick had personally taken these two, who he had appointed as vice-captains, to begin their training.

Since the other squad members were using the training ground within the sect, he had brought the two of them out to the mountains behind Tianshui County.

However...

”Captain.”

”Huh?”

”Why’d you call?”

”Before we begin training, I wish to confirm if you are qualified to teach me.”

Namgung Jin suddenly did something crazy.

”...Huh?”

Patrick momentarily doubted his own hearing, and alarm bells went off in Mun Yul’s head.

’I... I have to run.’

He never thought this perfectly normal-looking man next to him would suddenly do something so insane.

And what’s more...

”In truth, I have never seen your skills.”

”Ah, so?”

”Although your seniority is higher than mine, the age difference between us is not that great, so I must confirm whether you are truly qualified to be the captain.”

”Oh, really?”

”Confirmation?”

”In other words, you want to see some of my skills?”

Namgung Jin’s crazy act did not end with just one instance but was ongoing.

’Stop it, you crazy bastard!’

Regardless of whether Mun Yul next to him was screaming internally, Namgung Jin drew his sword, pointed it at Patrick, and raised his momentum as he spoke.

”Accept my challenge, Evil-Breaking Swordsman Patri— ughk!”

CRACK!

It should be seen as a matter of course that Patrick’s fist slammed into Namgung Jin’s face.

A perfectly landed fist.

Namgung Jin spun round and round in the air and was about to fall to the ground...

GRAB!

...but he couldn’t.

Patrick grabbed him by the collar mid-air.

And then...

”Hehehe.”

”A challenge?”

”A challenge?”

”A chaaaalleeeeenge?”

After a long time, Patrick’s madness exploded.

Then, he repeatedly slammed his fist into Namgung Jin’s face and said.

”Has this bastard gone crazy?”

”How dare you spout nonsense like a challenge?”

”Huh?”

SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK!

Fists landed squarely on the face of the precious young master.

”You brat, I drank with your ancestors, ate with them, cut down the Unorthodox Alliance with them, I did it all, you brat!”

”Keok. Keuk... that... keok... what...”

”This ill-mannered punk dares to challenge me?”

”A chaaalleeeeenge?!”

Was the word ’challenge’ a word that could be regarded as such a heinous, world-shaking crime?

Patrick grabbed Namgung Jin by the collar and threw him to one side.

KABOOM!

”Keoheok!”

Namgung Jin, flying parallel to the ground, broke several trees before crashing into a rock.

”Keoheok...”

He coughed up blood and thought.

’This... this wasn’t supposed to happen.’

It was from this day on.

That the life of the precious eldest son of the Namgung Clan began to be filled with trials and tribulations.
