My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early

Chapter 436: Chapter 289: Parachute Following

Li Xiang took a satellite phone out of his system inventory. It was military-issued, and he usually kept it hidden away in storage.

But this was no time for discretion. He first called Luo Feifei, but she didn’t pick up. So, he called Xu Xuan next and briefly explained what had happened.

Although Xu Xuan’s strength was only average on the team, he had connections and was skilled at handling official matters, so Li Xiang asked him to coordinate things.

Afterward, he called Yao Yao and the others to inform them of the situation.

Yao Yao and the others were thrilled. They could finally go out on an adventure with Brother Xiang again. Running a shop at the scenic spot and selling goods on livestreams every day was getting pretty boring.

Besides, Li Xiang had been gone for a long time, and the three of them—Yao Yao, Zhao Xueqing, and Lei Xiaohui—missed him terribly.

They quickly arranged their work affairs to ensure everything would continue to run smoothly in their absence.

They had experience with this from before, so it wasn’t a big deal.

Shipping and security were once again left in Lei Xiaonan’s charge.

To everyone’s disappointment, although Lei Xiaonan’s Martial Arts had improved significantly, he still hadn’t become an Extraordinary Being, so Li Xiang didn’t call him for this mission.

Lei Xiaonan had been very dejected at first, but he had come to accept it. He didn’t give up; instead, he continued to train diligently every day. Even if he couldn’t become an Extraordinary Being, becoming a Martial Arts master was still a worthy goal.

The Martial Arts Li Xiang had taught them were all profound and esoteric. Moreover, Lei Xiaonan had also consumed Spiritual Medicine, which had greatly enhanced his physical constitution. He was still young, making it the perfect time for him to practice Martial Arts.

Not long after he finished his calls with the people from Li Family Village, Luo Feifei called him back.

”Miss me?” Luo Feifei murmured.

”Get over here and work. South America,” Li Xiang said.

”Tch~ Making me work the moment you see me? Shouldn’t you at least treat me to a candlelight dinner first?” Luo Feifei pouted. ’I’m still a minor, you know,’ she thought. ’Making me work is child labor abuse. So many people can’t even get me to go on a date, and you’re just ordering me to work?’

Li Xiang reminded her, ”I’m using a military phone right now.”

Luo Feifei covered her mouth and stopped teasing him. ”I’m busy these next few days, but if there are official military orders, I can definitely get out of my work commitments.”

Not only could she get out of them, but she wouldn’t have to pay any breach of contract fees. Of course, the work would be postponed, not canceled altogether.

Li Xiang said, ”Let’s talk more when we meet. You can contact Yao Yao and the others first, and then you can all come over together.”

Since it was a military-issued satellite phone, the two of them didn’t talk for long.

After hanging up, however, Luo Feifei was ecstatic. Her unusual expression drew the attention of everyone on the film set. They all wondered what happy news the little beauty had received. Her smile was truly captivating enough to topple kingdoms, charming a whole crowd of people!

Someone more experienced muttered to the person next to them, ”Look at that lovestruck expression after her call. She was probably on the phone with her boyfriend.”

”That call was way too short. Don’t those lovey-dovey calls last for at least an hour or two? Besides, since when does she have a boyfriend? Oh, you don’t mean... her rumored other half?”

”That Li Xiang is one lucky guy, managing to bag a young beauty like Luo Feifei, the number one prettiest girl in the universe.”

Although the thing between Li Xiang and Luo Feifei was just a rumor, most people felt there was no smoke without fire, and it was likely close to the truth.

Many fans were heartbroken that Luo Feifei had been snatched up. But even so, her fans remained loyal and continued to support her. This made other female stars burn with envy, jealousy, and hate. How could she have so many die-hard fans?

Still, Luo Feifei’s beauty was undeniable, a fact everyone acknowledged. It was said that at industry events, when many top-tier handsome actors and beautiful actresses were gathered together chatting—including some very famous female stars—the moment Luo Feifei walked in, all conversation would spontaneously stop. Everyone, men and women alike, would turn to look at her.

At fifteen or sixteen, in the flower of her youth, an A-list actress with devastating beauty—she was truly without equal.

Of course, many also believed that Luo Feifei hadn’t been ”snatched up” yet. Rumor had it that there was a difference in the shape of a woman’s legs and her posture before and after losing her virginity—something a seasoned playboy could spot. And Luo Feifei’s physique perfectly matched that of a girl who was still inexperienced.

Then again, that wasn’t necessarily accurate.

「Some twenty hours later.」

A Y-20 transport plane, nicknamed ”Chubby Girl,” appeared near the coordinates Li Xiang had provided.

The roar of the Y-20’s turbofan engines shook water from the treetops as seven figures leaped from the sky.

”WOO-HOO~~~” Yao Yao screamed in mid-air, thrilled by her first parachute jump.

In fact, out of the seven of them, only Xu Xuan and Zhang Youyou had extensive parachuting experience. The others, including Luo Feifei, had never done it before.

But when it came to being the group’s hype man, Yao Yao was number one.

As Extraordinary Beings, their physical conditioning surpassed that of any special forces soldier. So even though they hadn’t jumped before, a little bit of training was all they needed.

To be safe and to avoid getting scattered too far apart upon landing, Zhao Xueqing used her Vine Technique to connect everyone together, with several dozen meters between each person.

It was just like the ”follow jump” feature in video games.

Yao Yao was secretly amazed. ’Zhao Green Tea’s Vine Technique is getting more and more incredible,’ she thought. ’She can manifest vines this long? They must be four or five hundred meters long in total, and they’re covering such a wide area. I wonder how long that tail of hers has gotten. It’s been a while since I’ve seen her show that sensitive tail.’

In fact, Zhao Xueqing’s tail—which was not quite a vine and not quite flesh, had a pink flower bud at its tip that could secrete Spirit Dew Rain—had not been seen by outsiders since its first demonstration, after which Yao Yao had grabbed it and teased her. She had never revealed it in front of others again.

If she were to show it, she would only show it to Li Xiang. After all, the Flower Demon’s tail could add a lot of spice to certain... critical moments.

The ground grew closer, and seven parachute canopies blossomed in the air.

Lei Jiaming gripped his lines tightly, his goggles reflecting the jadeite-colored sea of trees below. ”Holy shit! Old Xu, look at that man-eating flower! Its petals are bigger than a car!”

Although Lei Jiaming had been to quite a few places and had even received firearms training from Xu Xuan, he still hadn’t seen much of the world and was easily startled.

”Watch out, sudden wind shift!” Xu Xuan and Zhang Youyou, being the most experienced jumpers, shouted over the comms, reminding everyone to be careful and adjust their parachute lines.

They all had the Obsidian Battle Armor that Li Xiang had given them, but none of them were wearing it. It wouldn’t be too late to put it on right before landing.

Wearing the Spirit Armor would have dampened the thrill of the high-altitude jump. In fact, none of them were even using Spiritual Power to shield their bodies.

The coordinates Li Xiang had given were still some distance from the Demon’s Nest, so they wouldn’t be landing directly in the Polluted Area.

Soon, the group of seven landed in the rainforest. Because the jungle was so incredibly lush and dense, all seven of their parachutes got caught in the trees.

Lei Jiaming used his Mountain-Cutting Blade to hack away the Strangler Fig entangling his parachute. The blade struck an aerial root, sending milky-white sap splashing and startling three toucans whose feathers shimmered with a metallic sheen.

Yao Yao’s parachute was caught on a Heaven-Reaching Tree. Hanging upside down, she drew her Tactical Dagger. With a flash of the blade, the parachute lines snapped. She twisted her body gracefully, her Snake Skin Soft Boots tapping against the tree trunk seven times before she landed lightly on the ground.

The others freed themselves with similar skill. They regrouped, all carrying backpacks and holding rifles. Lei Jiaming was even carrying a sniper rifle with an 8x scope.

Everything was provided by the military, so they figured they might as well take what they could get. It was fun to play around with the gear.

Even though they were all Extraordinary Beings with Superpowers and had each mastered Martial Arts, using firearms was often just easier.

Not everyone was a monster like Li Xiang, who had so many different abilities up his sleeve.
